Yes definitely, they did it to themselves though so i feel no pitty, MS are ruthless and take no prisoners, if it benefits them then it gets done and they did just that.

Compared to the PS and PS2 generations...certainly. The Xbox and Nintendo brands are both more powerful today and I never would have guessed that 6-7 years ago.

I'm surprised where Nintendo is right now. I really thought Nintendo was gonna fail with the Wii especially after the gamecubes respectful but far from incredible showing last gen. But it seems their approach this gen has cost them next gen.

Yes because of the $599 PS3 price and making it into a Blu-Ray player first and gaming console second for the first couple of years.

Sony's name in general has fallen. In the past, Sony was the best of the best in electronics and their name brand was super popular. You either had a Sony or you didn't.

Now a days, Sony is no longer the king of electronics like they use to. The Playstation name has fallen with it.

I could see that. I used to own all Sony tvs. Their trinitron tvs were awesome. But now I own LG and samsung tvs in my house. And I don't have a sony music player which sounds strange.

I don't think so, but if they want to position their next home console as a "casualbox" and use a different strategy then they should come up with something new which would help differentiate it.

What really is the point of presenting these Kinect games? Microsoft just expanding to another demographic, big woop. Did you forget about the countless casual games Sony published in the PS2 days? Sony needs to return to that.

Nothing wrong with casual games. Its the cows that are trying to demonize it somehow because its bringing MS success. Believe me, if it was bringing Sony equal success they would have no issues with it.

I completely agree. The Playstation and Sony brands aren't as strong as they were 4-5 years ago. The poor launch of the PS3 and then the poor sales of Sony's electronics (laptops, blu-ray players, HDTV's, receivers, etc..) Before that time Sony was the brand to own for HDTV, DVD and Blu-ray players. Now the competition is fierce. Samsung, LG and Panasonic are very strong in America now. Sony is no longer the top dog. They also made a batch of bad LCD HDTV about 10 years ago that had component issues. I still have my 55in Sony LCD HDTV with a blue blurry haze on the screen. Will cost like $500 to fix. Thankfully Sony replaced the HDTV, but would not take the broken one back. I still ended up pay $700 for the new LED HDTV, but at the time it retailed for almost $1900. I could not get this HDTV today for about $1200. Sony needs to make some serious changes if they want to survive this downswing.

I dun think so, playstation remains the strongest brand ingaming .... it's just that the market is becoming more competitive, Sony has made some big mistakes at the begining of this generation but things are going well now for the PS3 at least.

Compared to the PS2 of course it's a step back, but any console will look like a step back when compared to PS2, right?

Not a sheep. And don't even own a Wii. (360 and PS3 owner)

But I definitely don't care for Kinect or Move or Motion Sensing in general.

Yes it's funny how hypocracy works, especially if it spits right back to those who deserve it ;)

My god your sig attempts to create a coorelation based on two points on a plane. How silly.

Yes, it holds strength, but its weaker. If anyone thinks that brand name matters though then they are kidding themselves. Sony won the very first generation they participated in. Nintendo came in last place last generation behind a new comer and with the most brand recognition. Its all about how you market your name.

As for getting rid of the Playstation name? That's silly, Sony would be better off adopting Playstation as their corporate name, its the only division thats in the black.

That's debatable.
