As we sit here, two years (one year for some consoles) into this new gen I'm not so sure.

I think we're still in a waivering part of this generation. I dont' think any one console is invulnerable to falling (or jumping up) from its current position. I'm waiting for something (we probably won't know what that "thing" is until this gen is over) to shift the tides of the "war".

What do you think?

I think the Wii will be the leader of this gen.

As for who ends up in 2nd and 3rd, this is up for debate. I'm guessing the 360 will fall to third place. I'm just not impressed by how it's doing so far.

The Wii will not be the "PS2" of this gen. As of right now, the Xbox 360 is looking more like the "PS2" than the Wii. The Wii is just like the Gamecube: great first party Nintendo titles, crappy third party titles.

Not even close. The wii has to have both sales and games to be the next PS2. Right now they have the sales but the games, they do not have.

I doubt there will be a PS2 this gen, none of the consoles are really going to totally dominate like the PS2 did.

That said the wii is the closest its will get, hell its getting more PS2 games atm than the PS2 is.

The Wii will stay strong reguardless this generation. Titles like Wii Fit are going to keep people buying it. I'm sure it will start a news frenzy once released like Wii Sports did.

360 seems to be going steady. PS3 seems like its having an identity crisis with all the price point and sku changes. I'm sure Sony is trying to position it in the best light but it will take a bit more time.

It is a very tough call. I don't see the Wii selling 120 million units, because they do not break down as frequently as PS2's, lol.

No. It's selling well like the PS2, but where are all the quality third party titles?

Not even close. The wii has to have both sales and games to be the next PS2. Right now they have the sales but the games, they do not have.

But they started out stronger than any of the other 2 in its first year. The 360 has the games right now because of the extra year, but if you look at their respective first years, the Wii's is comparable. Next year should be even better as 3rd parties start to put more effort on the Wii. There's already quite a few games that look interesting. Here's a few: No More Heroes, King Story, Tales of Symphonia 2, and Fatal Frame 4. This is not to mention the strong 1st party line up by Nintendo with Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, and the new IP Disaster.

Looks like the Wii is headed in the direction of having both sales and games.

wii sells consoles but the 360 is kind ofhated onin japan because everybody down there is loyal to nintendo and sony. i mean even japan has bought more PS3s than 360s almost 3:1 over there so you know something is wrong with them.

in north america the only place where it matters the 360 has sold almost 2.5 million more consoles.

and wii has no good games unless you are like 10. no multiplats, bad online, bad graphics and it doesnt even play DVDs, no HD. it shouldnt even be considered next gen.

First of all, the US isn't the only market that matters. And even if it was, the 360 is quickly losing its lead there to the Wii. So in the end, it'll be the Wii that'll end up selling more than the others.

Secondly, please stop with the Wii has no good games arguments. Seriously, it's getting old and redundant how this myth keeps being thrown around here.

Lastly, no one cares about being able to play DVDs on the Wii. At least I don't. That's why I have DVD players.

As a fellow Laker fan, I would at least hope that you'd come prepared at the top of your game. Don't be a Smush Parker, be a Magic or a Kobe.

the ps2 has sooo much AAA and AA games....will the wii be able to achieve that?? as of right now, it only has one, and its not even accessable to everybody....wii MIGHT come close to the ps2 with sales, but it needs the games to be on par with the ps2 my friend..

The PS2 is still out. 360 released 2 early. What are we to believe of this so called "new gen"? When did the old gen end?
