[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"][QUOTE="3picuri3"] he's taking the quote from epic out of context anyways, i wouldn't take it too seriously. cows love to try to spin that quote, here's the full quote: '"I'm not the technical guy... all I know is that with the two to three more years of optimization that we've had, we're much further along than I think, three years ago, we thought we were going to get. So I think we're certainly approaching the upper end of it, as far as what developers are able to do with it, but just looking at all the demos we saw today -- ours and others -- it's clear that all the games just keep improving, and keep pushing that bar. I think it's just a matter of, you know, it's a slow cycle; you only get a kick at it every couple years, and so it takes a while for people to see that progress."'Thewbacca
Not only that, but Cliff Bleszinski said, "[Rod Fergusson's] quote that was taken out of context," Bleszinski told Videogaming247. "I think we're pushing the 360, but the system's not going to get any more RAM, it's not going to get a faster processor, but at the same time that puts the impetus on our programmers and artists to be smarter with what they work with."

Bleszinski went on to compare the Xbox 360 life cycle to that of the Super Nintendo console; graphics gradually increased in quality and just as it seems to reach its limit someone uses "ninja code tricks" to push more out of the system. "It's amazing what programmers can do. I wouldn't count our guys out yet," Cliff added.

So, he's comparing a system of coding that had been working with a standard console, but was untried, and was thuis able to get more things out of it (Like the NES, the Playstation 2, etc.) to a system of coding that was ages old, and relies on new hardware to make it sparkle (the 360, which is based on PC coding, which we already know well enough). Whichever way you slice it, that system has peaked, while th other three still have better years ahead of them.

Why is it that only the 360 has peaked? you're telling me that the Wii still has yet more to give?

It's obvious that you despise the 360 and that's why people will be taking your opinions with a grain of salt mate. No offence but you just sound like a die-hard cow!

agree i haven't seen much of a argument from the lems. with a pc and ps3 i don't have to worry about rrod or paying ms to play online. halo 3??? thats going to be on the pc one day.... and since im not interested in halo i could care less about the 360. the few games the 360 has that are just on the 360 don't seem worth it in my opinion.

why get a ps3 if you have a 360 and a pc? i'm not going to throw stones and list what people perceive as faults in the ps3 or where the 360 is better than a ps3.
both systems have exclusives. i can only assume that the reason you need a ps3 for this supposed "best combo" is because of the exclusives it has to offer. if you start listing of anything other than exclusives then consider what the 360 also has to offer outside of its exclusives. honestly though, if there is a "best combo" for this gen, and you all believe that the PC has a large number of the games already on the powerhouse consoles, then the obvious best combo this generation is PC/Wii, or 360/Wii, or PS3/Wii.
silly topic.

Did I not mention "exclusives" in my first post? BTW, why would you bring the Wii up into a thread where it is unwanted?

Its no secret I despise the 360 for a variety of reasons (I have a Ps3, a Wii, and am working on upgrading my PC - it is a useless abomination that is dragging down gaming), but lets look at this practically. The 360 has an almost identical programming structure to the PC, right? The PC is a constantly evolving creature, requiring more and more as the years go by. At its time (2005), the Xbox 360 was a mid-to-low end PC mass produced. Everyone knew the coding structure almost by heart - that was how it was able to snap up third party support. So it has now reached a point where developers have reached the peak of what it is capable of. Theres no magic new way to code for it, everybody worked them out years ago. That my main point - the Ps3 has new intricasies, new prospects, because no-one had seen anything like it before. New PCs, the Wii - same thing. We've seen the 360 many times, we know what it can do, and the results aren't that spectacular.

I have all of them a gaming rig, PS3 and a 360, and I play the PS3 the least. Some shooters I prefer on the 360 (convenience, controller, splitscreen) currently I am gaming on my PC the most immersed at my desk playing MMO and RTS.

you have zero evidence of this, there is actually more evidence out there to prove you wrong - as you can even see in the one quote you try to use for evidence. but hey, who likes evidence. it can ruin a perfectly sound argument.

Not that stupid considering in you last post you say you despise the 360 for no real reasons. And what do fanboys like doing, despising other console for no real reasons. Stop kidding yourself and look at the vast array of AAA's and AA's the 360 has and enjoy all consoles.

I think the point of it is. Have each console for a different reason. For example. I have the XBox 360 for the game's that I like!!

[QUOTE="JKusanagi"]To the point of really needing to have a 360 having a PC and a PS3 of course not, but if you still have the money and time to explore yet another platform, go for the 360, that way you can focus only on playing the best games each has to offerThewbacca
But thats the thing - it doesn't have good things now, and it won't in the future (or did you miss hearing Epic saying the 360 had reached its peak?). The 360 is effectively a dead console now, and a burden on the other three.

Oh really? Epic said the Xbox 360 was at its peak? I'd like to see you prove that.

um there are more AAA exclusives and AA exclusives for the 360 than the PS3 Halo 3, Forza 2, Gears of War 2, PDZ, Kameo, VIva Pinata Trouble in Paradise, Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, GRAW, DOA 4, Ninja Gaiden 2, PGR 3, PGR 4, Dead RIsing, Tales of Vesperia, Fable 2, Ace Combat 6, etc There are more than enough games on the 360.....throw in the fact that the 360 offers the PC gamers the best Online console gaming....and how multiplats usually have bigger communities on the 360, and more active in the long run as well.

Yes you did mention exclusives. Why do you ask? And I brought the Wii into this discussion because using the logic given in this topic; if you have a PC then you dont need a 360 because many of the 360s games are found on the PC. The same is true of the PS3. The Wii however has many unique games and offers unique gameplay due to their controllers. Even games on the Wii that are also on the PC|PS3|360 are still unique because of the control schemes. And I doubt that everyone dislikes the Wii as youre suggesting. I bet that most of the hate for the Wii is mainly due to the fact that the Wii is dominating in sales. I see no reason to hate the Wii. I prefer games on the PC|PS3|360 over what the Wii offers, but I still like the Wii. Don t own one, but Id certainly take one if someone gave it to me. I'd rather have a 360/PC combo or a PS3/PC combo, but I'm just pointing out the lameness of this topic by showing that the reverse of the topics title can be said, meaning "Have a PC, have a 360 - What the hell is the point of the PS3?"

I wans't arguing that the PS3 doesn't have games....i was just saying that the 360 has more than enough games that a PS3/PC owner would consider buying a 360 for....and that from a critical standpoint...the 360 has more critically well recieved games than the PS3.... Either way you couldn't really go wrong with either.....

That's my combo :P

Don't have the greatest PC though, but enough to run Left 4 Dead(Played it for 20 minutes and I've had it for a long time), Fallout 3 and Red Alert 3.

Best combo imo :P Don't see a reason to get a 360 tbh...

Lemmings and cows stand tall when it comes to the 'fact' that the PC is a dying platform.

Yet they will gladly hide behind it, and use its massive library of multiplats as ammunition against each other.:|

[QUOTE="locopatho"]Gotta love that argument. Lets combine a ~400 euro PS3, and ~1000 euro PC, and put them against the 360(200 euro). And 360 still has a load of good games not on either.thetruespin
I think its the fact that most people have a PC anyway. I mean, all you guys posting at the moment are on a PC (or maybe a MAC).

Actually, i am on my cell.

pretty sure the combo this gen is PC / 360. there are still some great games on the 360 that you can't get on PC and vice-versa. all you need to do is look at a list of games to figure that one out.

the only reason i'd go PC / PS3 is if you're a huge MGS fan, or want LBP, or KZ2, etc. all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day.

Yeah, there is only a couple people at my school with a PS3, and all of them got a 360 after they got the PS3, now they are constantly on XBL. Most of them have a custom rig too. I have a 360, a custom rig, and a Wii, which I've only bought one game for over the past 5 months and haven't played it since September. Kind of a waste of money, I should have listened.

I have a PS3 and am finally getting a new PC. However, it got me thinking. With games like Gears (and no doubt Gears 2 soon) & Mass Effect also available on the PC, and the PC having the best verrsion of games like Left4Dead, what is the point of the 360? Halo 3?

Surely best combo this gen is PC & PS3?

thats all true, but the most important thing this gen is community and friends. All of my friends own a 360, some also own ps3 and all own some sort of PC. But when we game online its usually on the xbox, though we do hit the PS3 if something good comes out like KZ2. No one plays 360 games on PC other than hard core cows. If I can buy a PS3 being a 360 leaning gamer, then you can buy a 200 dollar 360 for the games you listed. You cant even get a decent GPU for that money

Yes we all have PCs so what's the point of your thread?

Cows still can't hold their own weight against lemmings and resort to the "but i have teh PC" remark.

Pathetic tbh

[QUOTE="naydaslayer"][QUOTE="Fumpa"]why get a ps3 if you have a 360 and a pc? im not going to throw stones and list what people perceive as faults in the ps3 or where the 360 is better than a ps3. both systems have exclusives. i can only assume that the reason you need a ps3 for this supposed "best combo" is because of the exclusives it has to offer. if you start listing of anything other than exclusives then consider what the 360 also has to offer outside of its exclusives. honestly though, if there is a "best combo" for this gen, and you all believe that the PC has a large number of the games already on the powerhouse consoles, then the obvious best combo this generation is PC|Wii, or 360|Wii, or PS3|Wii. silly topic.Fumpa
Did I not mention "exclusives" in my first post? BTW, why would you bring the Wii up into a thread where it is unwanted?

I don't hate the Wii. I like it, I'm just saying that it didn't have anything to do with this thread. I asked because you said the only reason to get a 360 is exclusives, which was exactly what I said. The reason to get a PS3 if you have a 360 and a PC is because alot of games that are "exclusive" with the 360 are also on the PC, whereas the PS3's aren't. I think this is because Microsoft generally designs software for CPUs, but I'm not sure.

So you have a PC, but... now you're getting one? Which is it?Stevo_the_gamer

We get that alot here, they love PC & PS3 but they aslo state how they're gonna upgrade or buy a gaming PC. I bet most who obviously hide behind the PC don't even own a high end gaming PC. I mean who loves PC gaming so much that they buy a Wii over upgrading their PC? I don't think they like the PC as much as they try to make us believe.

TC is actually saying that when you combine the PC and the PS3, you have the gaming equivalent of a 360. I actually agree and think he gave lems a major compliment by mistake.

but you don't right? i mean i game primarily on PC / 360 and I know full well plenty of great games on the 360 that I just can't play on my PC. it's the same when you exclude the PS3 though, you're missing out on MGS, LBP, etc. it's the same when you exclude the Wii, you're miising out on Zelda, Mario, Mad World it's the same when you exclude the PC, miss out on Crysis, Stalker, etc, etc. There is no way to get a 'full' gaming experience without owning all - i think that's what should be taken from this thread. Unless you can say with all honesty that you don't care about any game on a particular system it's foolish to say otherwise. there is no replacement for owning all /thread.

I included the Wii because I wanted to refute the claim of a best combo. If TC said that the PS3/PC was the best combo where the only other combo possible was the PC/360 then I wouldn't have thrown the Wii into the mix. This is from the TC's original post: "Surely best combothis gen is PC & PS3?"

There isn't much of a reason to get a 360 after you have pc and ps3, but they have some exclusives that are only on the 360.naydaslayer
Just like there isn't much of a reason to get a PS3 after you have a PC and 360. Any 2 out of the 3 will cover the majority of games...I don't get why cows think this is some kind of thing to thump their chest over.

You mean Metal Gay Solid that game blows. Seriously, do you really think your post is helping to prove anything since most people don't think Halo 3 blows, just like most don't think MGS blows.

What's even funnier is people still play Halo3 whereas people stopped playing MGS4 2 weeks after it was released...

I'd rather have a 360 and a PS3 for the best combo IMO. Who wouldn't want to enjoy games like Gears 2, Halo 3, MGS4, Resistance 2, KZ2, Left 4 Dead etc...

Owning all 3 is for loser gamers where gaming = their life. Or rich kids. There is a difference between the "full gaming experience" and playing every game released in a generation. The gamer experience to me is having fun playing videogames and getting caught up in the excitement of playing games. You can only own a NES and still have a full gaming experience.

It has exclusives such as Halo 3, local multiplayer, is much cheaper, and being a console is less troublesome to manage for the average person and is thus more attractive.
