No. It simply depicts the slow and terrible poison that has started sinking into the veins of Nintendo and its fans. The poison could remain the same or grow worse (depending on how further Wii penetrates the mainstream market).
Quite frankly, the lineup looks like the shallow simplistic trash that I've grown to expect with the Wii. And the trash will only grow more stinky, if it changes at all.

A few titles and nothing on the level of Spore, Crysis, Halo 3, MGS4, Little Big Planet, or Mass Effect?
THIS is supposed to change our minds?
Is this for people that don't/didn't want a Wii?Nintendo_Ownes7No this, is a question for all the people who keep on saying that the Wii is a fad, and like to compare it to the GameCube. I'm ok with people not wanting a Wii. In fact, if you're a hardcore gamer with lots of free time, the 360 is probably a better choice. For me, the Wii was better, but I know it's not the ideal system for everyone.
sigh . . . . some people just don't get it. Besides quite possibly Halo 3, none of those games is going to sell more then a game like Nintendogs. This thread is not asking about whether you personally would buy a Wii after these recent annoucements, this thread is about whether anybody's opinions of whether the Wii could win this gen has changed. BTW, except for Little Big Plaent all those games were annouced quite some time ago and if you do that then the Wii has it's own set of games that can compete with those in Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl, not to mention the next Zelda game which has been in development for well over a year.A few titles and nothing on the level of Spore, Crysis, Halo 3, MGS4, Little Big Planet, or Mass Effect?

Those titles you mention didn't save the gamecube from its fate, also why should anyone compare the Wii with the DS?

How much you wanna bet a casual game on the Wii will sell more than these games other than Halo 3. Â

I've yet to see one decent refutation of the principles that I have listed. Remember, I harbor no original bias towards any developer or consoler manufactuerer in this industry. I simply offer the amount of praise (or criticism) a company deserves.
I'm sorry if Nintendo fans so ensnared within the marketing icons that Nintendo has created that they fail to see how terribly low their standards have become (and the fact that Nintendo is offering them a vastly inferior product at an inflated price, using a mission statement that contradictions the very progression and nature of the gaming industry).
It hasn't changed my mind about anything. I still see next to nothing that I want to play on the system.RyeferdJeezus, trying to have a constructive conversation with people on Gamespot is like trying to talk to a brick wall. You guys always miss the point of the topic and give answers to questions that were never asked.ME: Do you think with all the new game announcements that perhaps the Wii could win this gen?GAMESPOT POSTERS: I don't like those games!I wonder to myself how someone can think that their personal taste has such a huge impact on who wins this gen . . . .
Metriod, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, NMH, Man Hunt 2, Dragon Quest Sword, FF:CC,... i don't care what you think.A few titles and nothing on the level of Spore, Crysis, Halo 3, MGS4, Little Big Planet, or Mass Effect?

Actually this has not changed my mind at all on the Wii (in terms of 3rd party support I guess is the Question)........I mean none of these games are ground-breaking, or on the level of say Crysis, Halo, Mass Effect, MGS4, FFXIII, etc.....

How can someone refute your preference in games and fun? It's up to you to prove your case, really. Prove the manufacturing costs are incredibly low and that reviews are artificially inflated because of what you claim. You can't.Â

If you are not talking about sales, then why are you posting in this topic? This main point of this topic is whether peoples opinions have changed on whether the Wii will "win" this generation and "winning" a generation is pretty much a question of sales. I even went out of my way to say how I don't even reccomend the Wii for everyone and how it's probably smarter for most hardcore gamers to go with something like the 360, just to show that this isn't a topic about what system has the most games that hardcore gamers will ike, but yet you still can't get that through your head.[QUOTE="callmewaffle"][QUOTE="phatkav"][QUOTE="callmewaffle"]A few titles and nothing on the level of Spore, Crysis, Halo 3, MGS4, Little Big Planet, or Mass Effect?

I'm sure most hardcore car fanatics would prefer a BMW M5 over a Honda Accord but do you think if I started a post about which car will sell more, there would be BMW fanatics completely ignoring the question is saying M5, quality>quantity!! and garbage like that? No, the know the M5 has more horsepower and more luxuries then a Honda Accord, but they also know that the Accord has been a big hit with main-stream consumers because it offers things they like such as reliability and gas mileage. Why is this concept so hard for gamespot posters to grasp?I didn't know winning was simply a matter of sales, if the PS2 had no games worth playing would you still have said it won?
[QUOTE="callmewaffle"]I didn't know winning was simply a matter of sales, if the PS2 had no games worth playing would you still have said it won?But it got all those games because it sold, even though the Xbox and the GC were better hardware wise (and price).Â

Yeah, it's really hard to pick apart reasons a system "wins"........you kinda have to look at all the factors as a whole and not individually.

I think more need to be announced to convince others that third parties are really on board.karicha9
The only convincing anyone should need are the Japanese sales numbers. Any publisher that wants to sell any home console games in Japan is going to have to release Wii games. Xbox 360 is not relevant and PS3 is going completely GameCube. DS ate PS2's software sales. The strongest Sony platform in Japan right now and for the forseeable future is the PSP, which will always be a distant second to the DS, especially where software sales are concerned. DS: PSP is 3:1 in hardware but 6:1 in software in that region.
In short, Nintendo has the software market of the entire Japanese region under their thumb in much the way that Sony did with their PlayStation at the start of the last generation. Moreso, actually, because the Gameboy brand was stronger in software then than the PSP is now.
Wii is *still* supply constrained. It's shattered expectations. At the current rate of production and sales the userbase will be unstoppably viable within months. Microsoft has lowered their shipment forecast and Nintendo is working to increase production. Wii will be the global leader well before the start of the end-of-year holidays.

I hate when fanboys say this, everyone knows the PS1 won, and yet there are a lot of people who like the Nintendo 64 games better, and N64 had the game most people would say was the best game from that gen and maybe the best game of all time (Ocarina of Time). So why do people say the PS1 won that gen? Because it had more sales. You are free to like whatever system you want, but "winning" very much has to do with sales. Just like how everybody says the DS is "winning" and yet a lot of posters on these boards like the PSP's games better. That's fine, the PSP does have some great games, but it doesn't change the fact that the DS is "winning." As for your question about what if the PS2 won but it had no games worth playing? Well that's not possible, a system is not going to get the most sales with no games worth playing.Have all the Recent Wii Game Annoucements changed anybody's mind about the possibility of the Wii winning this gen? Just to recap in the last several weeks, it's been announced that a sequel to NiGHTS is coming, Sega will be collaborating with Nintendo on Sonic & Mario sports title, EA unveiled their plans to do a rhythm game called Boogie, Capcom announced that in addition to an exclusive Wii RE game (Umbrella Chronicles) that they will be doing a remake of Resident Evil 4, a new Guitar Hero game for the Wii is on the way, and the ultra violent Manhunt 2 will also be going to the Wii.

PS2 ports and they are better on PS2 (see latest Metal Slug Antology review for PS2 and Wii)
OMG, I'm on the verge of giving up. You guys are too hopeless.
