Wizardry: Proving grounds of the mad overlord turned 30 this year this series was instrumental in the creation of the RPG as a videogame genre, even the creator of Dragon Quest said he was heavy into computer RPG's at the time and that even simple things like the slime creature was taken from the Wizardry games

yet here we are, the series turned 30 and no one remembered it

well I remembered it

happy Birthday Wizardry

Never played it. Wasn't around for it.

But since your oldschool RPG.

Happy 30th Birthday.

See you again in ten years time when someone brings up your 40th.

Back when buying a computer RPG was an incredibly niche thing.

Here's to another 30 years of Western RPGs!

I'm sure at the time the game was ground breaking and has inspired tons of developers with ideas for other RPGs, but I would assume that the RPG experience would seem extremely bare bones compared to other RPGs in the past 10-15 years. I appreciate all the old school games that were the foundation of what we have today, but going back and playing some of them is tough for me. I mean I started playing games on the NES and I feel like my fond memories of those games would be tarnished if I went back and played them again.

I played Perfect Dark on the N64 over the summer, and being one of my favorite games of all time back when I played it, I still couldn't get past how horrible the controls were and the auto aiming. I ended up not finishing it because it seemed so bad by today's standards

Happy B-Day! :D

Thanks for inspiring countless games of the same kind and helping pave way for the new generation of RPGs.

I'd certainly be open to trying the game.

I'd also love to try out the Ultima series.

I want to get a 25 year old computer, and play them. That way I get the ultimate experience.
