If I felt betrayed by any company it's Blizzard. Not really though. It wasn't a surprise when they got so big that the inevitable greed kicked in and took over everything else.

People should feel betrayed by their country than being betrayed by a private entity they can freely choose to support. Microsoft is not the government and unlike the government, I do not hold any loyalty towards it.

Anyways MS went to Halo, Gears, Forza + Kinect and completely shit the bed at E3 2013 and they've been paying for it ever since.

However they have redeemed themselves in my estimation with gamepass and their focus on BC + free upgrades ... which I think that had a positive influence on Sony and other devs/publishers with regards to next gen patches.

I could understand feeling betrayed by Stadia, but not any of the big three. Both MS and SONY offer replacements or free service for the first 2 years.

I want to say no, but that's just not true. It was specifically with the release of Halo 2. We had been running Halo CE lans every Sunday for over a year (and many more after that) and couldn't be more excited to play the newest version. We repeatedly watched the E3 demo where they showed off dual wielding, stealing ghosts, a full-auto unzoomed battle rifle with single shot zoomed, etc. We were regularly watching a new webseries (pretty new concept) called Red vs Blue. Hell, I even got my roommate to buy an Xbox so we could practice throughout the week. He was going to use the second copy I won with my other buddies in a Halo tournament, since I had my steel case version pre-ordered. I bought the $70 (I think) Xbox live starter kit (a year, plus that uncomfortable wraparound headset). I was set!

We finished our normal Sunday games around 2 in the morning, then I got about 5 hours of sleep before I had to get up for work. Worked all day, flew down to give my buddy the gift card for my tournament copy (they all met a specific Walmart), then I went to get my pre-ordered copy from GameStop. It was freezing outside, but I was so pumped that I didn't mind. There were even a couple dudes dressed like Mario and Luigi lighting stuff in fire...I don't know why. I finally get the game, head to my buddies apartment, which is just packed to the brim with dorks! After the Steve Vai intro tingled my nethers, it was time to play. We fuddled through creating profiles and loaded up Coagulation. First thing we encounter is a bunch of icons over everyone's head, obscuring half the screen. It just got worse from there, but the high was sustaining hope. We played til morning, with a revolving cast of people who would fill in as someone had to get to class or work. I managed to pass out from 10-11 before I had to run home, shower and be at work by 12. I worked til 10 that night, and went back for more. We played through the whole campaign, which took us to about 8am, then grabbed some food and crashed til noon.

Long story long, we tried to play it for our Sunday lans, but I just couldn't. I was so disappointed with everything they had done, and couldn't believe how far they had strayed from greatness. I literally bought an Xbox just for CE, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I've had countless hours of fun, met lifelong friends, ate more dominos and drank more mountain dew than any human should! It is undoubtedly the best time of my life...and then there's Halo 2. I just don't think I have the words to express how upset I felt. And I know they didn't specifically target me... but I definitely did feel betrayed. I've never bought another Xbox since.

Companies have allegiance to money, you're just the thing that acts as a transaction.

Yes. Totally felt betrayed by MS.

They promised me that they believed in generations, and that you needed their “next gen” console to play their latest games.

They promised me that they would enable 3D sound to work on any speakers if I sent a picture of my ears.

They told me they were delaying the SSD expansion because only Sony certified drives would achieve the results necessary.

They promised me it would be easy to get game save states from my last console. They promised me interchangeable plates.

They promised me they had an answer to gamepass.

I feel totally betrayed.

Even the PS4 Pro has this issue too?!! Crazy. My original PS4 is the same. Cannot believe Sony didn't rectify this issue,

Yes. I upgraded to an Xbox One S from my original model that was flagging a bit. Immediately out of the box the wireless card failed. Now, I should have taken it back to the store, but I was a dumbass and contacted MS. Send it in they say. Boxed up everything (controller, cords, ect) in the original box and send it back to them...per their instructions. Not sure what happened, but it took them two months to send it back to me. BUT they did not send me my unit or even one of the same quality. Meaning it wasn't new. They sent me a One S that was wrapped in bubble wrap. No box. No controller. No cords. Just an Xbox in a cardboard brown box.

I call them and they say they will make it right. I get a reference number and am told I will receive replacements in a few weeks. Three weeks later, nothing has arrived so I call back. They have no record of this number. This person says they will need to investigate the incident and it will take another few weeks to get to the bottom of it. A few weeks later...nothing. So I call back and am livid this time. We are months into the process now and I am frustrated. I get a supervisor this time and am assured that the matter will be put to the top of the priority line. If I don't hear back from them in none week, then please call back.

Well, when I didn't get a call I finally called back. I spoke to a nice lady there who heard me and wanted to help. It took her three hours on the phone to me to get this settled. Finally. She had to jump through hoops to get a controller and some power cords sent out to someone who was a long time customer. I felt so very unimportant and it's taken until now for me to even consider another Xbox. I will probably get an XSX at some point this gen. I'm intrigued by some titles...but ugh...

The entire experience still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

@Jendeh: That sounds awful! Did you ever go through the process of cancelling Xbox live? Wasn't as bad you're story, but sitting on the phone for 2.5 hours, only to have them hangup on you, sucks.

@Jendeh: Damn that sucks. I understand it's a principle thing but honestly at that point would probably have just bought a new cord and controller rather than dealing with that (then again in my view time=money).

Anyway back to thread, no never felt "betrayed" by a faceless company, as that requires one to get emotionally invested in a company (which imo is kinda sad). Another crappy thread by a broke fanboy...

All 3 of the big console makers have had periods of time where they were let downs.

No. I did feel betrayed by Sega with the 32x and by Sony with the PS2.

I grew up and never felt that way anymore. Gaming is a business like any other. I support the systems and games that i feel are suited for me, and i rarely get disappointed.

It is insane to me seeing this many people that were betrayed by Microsoft. I knew it was bad, but i would've never imagined it being this bad. If the same thread was created about Sony, we wouldn't be in the same situation, because Sony doesn't betray their fans. If we were talking about Nintendo, sheep would be pretending (as always) that everything is perfectly fine, but then you look at Dread and what Nintendo has done to the Metroid series, and its real hard to deny that they have betrayed Metroid fans.

Thinking about that word...betrayal. The more I think about it, the more I come up with one instance where I really feel like I'm being done wrong, like where I take it personally, and that's the fact that there hasn't been a new/remastered Socom. Yea...MS screwed up big time last gen with the XB1 launch, but they righted the ship and I played PS for a bit of the gen anyways. Yea, RROD was bad, but luckily I didn't get hit with it. All sorts of goof ups from any gen that can be pointed to. Just for me personally, I can only think of one thing that I feel kicked in the nuts on, and that's the lack of Socom.
