Steam Reviews: 9/10
.
Sounds like a must play for ARPG fans and a good example of Early Access being used properly. Grim Dawn is very enjoyable and up there with the best in the genre. Have you played it? Do you plan to pick it up?

@Cloud_imperium:
Been playing back when it was only act 1. It's amazing. Of course I loved titan quest and this was made by many of the same devs. I knew it was going to rock before I even bought it.
If you like Diablo2, sacred series 1 and 2, Titan quest, torchlight, poe, you will love this game. If you only like diablo3 , probably not.
I have it on my steam wish list for the holiday sales since I still have 60+ games I haven't touched at all.
i have no interest in low budget indie junk with 90s gameplay, not when i have DS3 to play
just a few more days......
Small inventory? It's quite huge compared to every other other aRPG, did the reviewer play far enough to notice that you get extra inventory tabs?
And yes I've been playing it since I got code from kickstarter

That's incredibly short sighted.

I'm afraid i'm in same thinking as Shepard. Dying to play DS 3, no care for games as Grim Dawn lol. But i wish you and other who enjoy indie games enjoy it very much, looks nifty and got solid review. Never could get into indie games. Now you can insult me as much as you can HeHe.

Some people are crazy hoarders.

But nope, it looks awesome for those into these games. I just grew out of games with this type of combat awhile ago, shit is gonna give you RSI. The last of these games I played was Path of Exile, which I admire quite abit even if I played that for like 6 or so hours.

Yeh they aren't for everyone, PoE is brilliant tho, the game has so much depth to it

Being "indie" or "non indie" have nothing to do with it. A good game is a good game. Being "indie" also doesn't mean "low budget". Just because something is made by independent developers doesn't mean it's always artsy fartsy games with 8 bit colors.
"no one care for games as Grim Dawn". That's not true at all. It's top down ARPG like Diablo 3 that have sold over 30 million copies so far. It was the fastest selling PC game of all time when it first came out. Of course Grim Dawn won't sell that much because it lacks marketing budget of Diablo 3 and brand loyalty.
Now I understand if you are not into ARPGs, then this will not interest you and that's perfectly fine. But saying that no one cares about it or it's bad because it's "low budget" or pretending that being "indie" is some new kind of genre instead of being just a term to describe a developer that is not owned by anyone, is wrong way to look at things.

True and i agree with you completely. as i play very limited games on limited time, i couldn't get into indie games no matter how good they are. Just get a garunteed satisfaction from the games by popular game studious which i like to play :)
Yes. I played it when it was early access (quite late early access) and thought it was great. Was awesome to have a game of this kind to play since Diablo 3 ultra flopped for me.

You guys are crazy. I'm playing both!

I actually used to like them quite alot. Played through stuff like Dungeon Siege and Titan Quest, even Sacred 2 back when I was crazy about open world stuff. Of course, there's Diablo and both Torchlight games (#TeamPetKitten) which had me playing them for some time. I made abit of a ruckus everywhere when I was going around telling people how better Diablo 3 was over Torchlight 2 when Diablo 3 during the RMT/Always Online fiasco lol.
I just got sick of the usual item grind and the sticky and clinical combat, which is what did it for me. I prefer Isometric stuff being more turn based or on the strategic side of things and action stuff actually being more of an action game with fluid active combat.
It sucks that U lost interest before I played Path of Exile, because I think that's the best "Isometric ARPG" I've played. It's an Action RPG with a real upgrade system filled with fun interesting active effects and side grades, which is what a good ARPG should be, as opposed to a game like Witcher 3, which is just filled with boring % damage boosts to attacks/spells that you have access to from the tutorial.
Diablo 3 looks like shit, but then again I wasn't a big fan of Titan quest either.
I still think the original Diablo was the greatest, some if it's charm was lost in 2, although 2 was better in more areas. Although it did get a bit hectic later in the game when you had to quickly whip off your trousers mid fight because if they broke that was the end of them.
Big fan of the Diablo franchise so hopefully the devs consider a port of this to PS4.
Loved D1 & D2, played D2 for countless hours. Zeal Paladin ftw. D3 is also crack cocaine lately and my Crusader is a tank.
How does it compare to D3?
My only bummer about D3 is that it's fallen quite far from its gothic horror roots and I'm craving a horror style game like Diablo or at least for blizzard to make D4 horror based.

D3 is a cartoon game. Grim Dawn is gothic horror.
I don't play Early Access. So is it complete now?
Of course it is... that's why they reviewed the game. The complete edition was released last month.

@Cloud_imperium: Does CDPR still qualify as an Indie or are they "big publishers" now?

That game looks interesting. Maybe I'll buy it later.

Don't know man. They have shareholders now. It's not 100% private company anymore. They wasted money when making Rise of the White Wolf for Consoles, and that nearly bankrupted them. They had to join stock business to save the company. After that they canceled ROTWW and started working on Witcher 2 instead.
Hyper Light Drifter and this game are two Kickstarter success stories.
If it wasn't for Kickstarter and Early Access we would've never had these great games.
I hope to buy Grim Dawn soon and play it. Looked great since its inception.
... and Divinity: Original Sin that benefited from kickstarter, possible D:OS 2 too. Don't know if you're talking about this year alone. :)
