I've played all three of them extensively. But for some reason,Prime 2 is missing from my collection; I can't recall what I did with it,but I plan on adding it back into my collection soon.
played and beaten them all.. easily one of my favorite series of all time
EDIT: and did anyone else notice that Prime 1 still looks better than 80% of games on the wii?
I played the first, and didn't even beat the first level (I couldn't take the controls, but I got it for like $5). Then I got some what far in the third game, and loved it. I just never got around to beating it. I sold both around a month ago, and I'm getting the Trilogy.
I can't wait. I love the Wii Controls. :D
I played prime 1 right when it came out back in 2002 and it freakin' blew my mind, i played prime 2 right when it came out in 04, played it for a while, and decided that, i hated it. Seriously i know that metroids whole thing is about exploration, but my god... this game, is too hard, you get too lost, you will have no idea what to do unless you have a guide glued to your forehead . And i played prime 3, i liked the first parts of the game, but i think it just kinda fizzled out as it went on. It started out like it was going to be a completely different metroid from all the others, be like the awesome cinematic experience, maybe alittle more action in it, but then it just fell into the same patern as all the others, which was dissapointing. It was still really good, but i was hoping they were going to just completely break free of the normal metroid formula, because thats what it seemed like they were aiming for at first
I own and have played all three.
I've played the first about 8 or 9 times through. I've played the second about 3 or 4 times through. And I've played the third once through. My favourite is the second, and I'd say in terms of complete package quality, the second is also the best (music, atmosphere, story, items, areas, bosses, difficulty, etc.).
The first is a fantastic remake of Super Metroid in 3D but the second took everything good about the first and made a "new" area for Metroid, instead of recycling all the old areas with new names (hell, even Magmoor Caverns had the Lower Norfair theme from SM).
The third however, in terms of graphics and controls was a step up from the second, but in every other case (adventure, replayability, non-linearity, puzzle solving, platforming, etc.) it was a step down. It became more of a "shooter" than a first-person action-adventure with shooting elements. And was also a pretty big disappointment when I heard that there was going to be a full voice cast and not only were the characters incredibly one-dimensional and shallow, but Samus still didn't talk. It felt like they were trying to get with the times, but ended up getting with the mid-1990's times instead of 2007.
Here's hoping Other M is going to be good... but it could go either way. I'm still waiting for a full 2D, Wii Metroid: Fusion sequel... but that's not going to happen. Which is why I've got Shadow Complex to fill the large hole I've had for 2D speed-running games.

yeah im kinda worried about other M, i mean team ninja isnt exactly known for making games with heavy exploration or puzzle elements, which metroid is known for. I think nintendo should have had them make a new star fox, that would have been more up their ally, because that series is all action oriented
I played Metroid Prime 3 and Metroid Prime Hunters. MP3 I played and beat with 100% and got the secret ending. It was a good game, but I guess I missed whatever it was that made it so great for other people. MPH on the other hand was horrible... it was only fun when playing multiplayer and even then it was fun because we took the game as a joke.
Best game I've ever played. 2 and 3 were great too. thriteenthmonkeThis. Along with some Final Fantasy games. Nothing touches Metroid Prime.
nope, I've never played a MP game. I do own the third one for the wii.. but I barely touched it. It cost me 9 bucks

I've heard you mention this before, and I still don't agree with part 3 feeling more like a shooter. Yeah, the controls may have been changed to the point where it controls much more like one, but that's where the comparison ends for me. Since part 2 was my least favourite in the series (still pretty good, though), I thought 3 was also a big step up and delivered on nearly every level, ESPECIALLY the control method, and I'm really looking forward to playing through the first two again with the Wii controls.

They're working along side series director Yoshio Sakamoto and Nintendo. Its basically Team Ninja along with Sakamoto and his team working together to make the game.Played all 3 and was the so called 'halo beater' lol. What happened, it wasnt even close.
Its the only good fps adventure game on the wii/gc.g0ddyX
"Halo beater" made me lol. Anyway, in all fairness the two can't be compared at all. One is an FPS with a great, straight-forward campaign and great multiplayer while the other is a first person adventure game with shooting elements.

They're not even comparable....:?
But if we had to, Metroid Prime wins.lol - All the people that compare Halo to Metroid ... are strange.Played all 3 and was the so called 'halo beater' lol. What happened, it wasnt even close.

I played all the Prime games that were developed by Retro Studios and I plan on playing Metroid Prime Trilogy because it is my next game on my Gamefly list. I'm not going to buy it unless I really like it but I would want to play it.
