What is your preference - one button or 3 buttons to fire in an action game?

hahah its so painfully obvious you never played the game lol
its L1 to lock on then R1 to fire but if you wish to enter first person mode then you tab triangle not hold it lol
oh and it works quite well
So I take it sniping wile holding you're breath in CoD4 is to hard also?
I would really love to play against these people
The contriols are not actually like that and they work perfectly fine.
But i still  at Yahtzee's reviews, i love 'em.
controls are well done, imo. You just need to hold L1 while shooting, then just press triangle once to get into FPview thats it...let it all go and it goe's back to normal. If he thinks thats hard, then my god he doesn't play games often.
you dont even need to hit triangle if you just set it to stick in the options.controls are well done, imo. I think Yahtzee's reviews are funny when he exaggerates, but his MGS4 review was just straight up lying.
TC: It's not true.
wow. i liked that part. if you don't change anything on the settings you have to hold down triangle to go to fps mode. at least on mine you do.
spoiler..
it really helps when you're fighting against vamp in shadow moses.

no. on regular settings all you have to do is tap triangle once to go into first person.

hmm. not on mine. well it's my friends, i'm just borrowing it so i can play mgs. one of my favorite series.
.... you don't have to press 3 buttons to fire. he's just picking at straws because he ran out of unfunny jokes.
it's L1 to aim and R1 to shoot.
I can't believe there are this many misinformed gamers out there. really, get a clue.
It's L1 to aim, R1 to fire. IF you want to go into FPS mode you hit triangle ONCE!!! It isn't hard folks. Nor is it much different from any other games.
Wow this resurgence of the lost gets annoying.
Can you at least fire without having to press L1?wizardwd
That's the one thing you cannot do.
But the first thing that I did when I booted up the game is I went to the options menu (I hated that toggle crap in the beta) and I set it to FPS/TPS MEMORY, which means that when I press L1 it goes into the last aim mode I toggled instead of going from TPS first to FPS.
That way all I do is press L1 and then R1 to fire. It's exactly like bringing up your ironsights in COD. You press L1 to ready weapon and R1 to fire.
Not even close to being complicated. It's as intuitive as you can possibly make a transition from third person isometric or 3rd person with a 3d camera to first person. It's just gravy that you can switch to over-the-shoulder on top of that.
Yahtzee has no dice and he needs to get over himself on this review. I'd like to see him admit at least a few mistakes. The controls in this game were not even close to clunky, he just didn't know how to play. In my opinion, honestly, every game that involves a gun should have the same control scheme as MGS4. I think that it was damn near revolutionary, save the options menus, which are clunky when used in real-time.
I prefer MGS4's control scheme and it's shameful that Yahtzee couldn't note, as, let's say, Game Informer has, that the controls eliminated every single prior issue with control scheme in past Metal Gears. He didn't even mention the exceptional freedom of movement and choice in directing yourself to completing your objective. Flank, grab one guy, cut his throat, shoot the other guy, avoid them altogether, choose seperate paths, help the militia, help the PMCs, wreak havoc, whatever.

Options menu>remember first person>L1-R1 to fire in first-person
Having the top shoulder to shoot in any game is a bad design IMO. Especially since the six axis and DS3 have triggers on the R2, why not use that to shoot.

Nothing but lies. There are no options in the menu to let you do that. Why would you want to change it to that even if you could? Get this. Pick up your controller, put both fingers on R1 and L1. Now take your right thumb off the right analog stick and hold down triangle with your thumb. Your thumb is off the analog stick you use to aim. It's physically impossible to play like that. You're full of ****.I heard you can't even shoot around corners your hiding behind, thats pretty bad in and of itself. Especially for a "stealth" game. Either that or everyone I've talked to about the game sucks really bad at controlling it. They told me you have to like back up from the cover and slowly move around the corner.
My friends have also told me that moving around and firing and turning corners is kind of clunky and not done very well.
This L1 R1 firing thing is fine, thats how its done in gears of war and I prefered it. Although In gears you can fire with just 1 button if you really want to.diped

The people you talked to lied.
That's how MGS has always been. :|
Yahtzee exaggerates. It's barely a problem.. -_-
ChrnoTrigger
Only MGS4 requires you to hold L1 to aim. In the others, it's just the Square button.. They all have great controls.
It's simply an option. You can push L1 for third person over the shoulder view, or push triangle to zoom into first person view. It's simply an option, not mandatory. I went through half the game not knowing you could push triangle to zoom into first person view.
It's not a bad thing, it's a good thing. Simply an option that not many games will ever give you... the option of 3rd or 1st person.
