Having to press both shoulder buttons triangle 2 aim/fire is not good design

Yeah, when I saw that I instantly went, "huh?" Yahtzee got it wrong, you can play through the entire game quite happily without even so much as pressing the triangle button. He also says something about "having to stand up to shoot" which is also completely wrong as you can aim and shoot from any stance. And since when does having a plethora of items in a game become a flaw just because you made the decision not to use most of them? :? I have a feeling Yahtzee is going to get hit hard with a mailbag showdown...

I love how everyone complains about something Yahtzee gets wrong as if he said something about their mom. It's precisely why the SSBM mailbag episode was a classic.

I think its pretty weird that he made a completely inaccurate criticism, i would get if it was a joke where it was vastly over exaggerated (like hold down the 2 shoulders and triggers and use your tongue to move the analog or something) but this is presented as what you actually have to do, which is wrong. Its like lots of current action games where 1 button is ready your gun and 1 button is shoothmac777

How was it an inaccurate criticism? You're taking this all far too literally. I'm fairly sure he was simply saying that the controls for aiming/firing/switching between views could be better. Simple.

Erm... nope. :? He ripped Oblivion, Mario Galaxy and Uncharted (Some of my favourite games this generation) to shreds but always dealt with actual flaws that were present. I have no qualms with his bad-mouthing the story or the long cutscenes because he never strayed from his truthful (if exaggurated) impression of it.

Why you're choosing to take that as a literal attempt to say that you need press all three at all times to deliberately give out false information is beyond me.

You obviously havent played the game. You hold L1 to aim in third person. Then press R1 to shoot. You can press triangle to go into first person view. It is an option. I used it about three times in the game only.p4ddym

Its really only helpful if you have a scope anyways. The red dot and iron sights are pretty useless. It does look dang neat to move around in FP mode though.

having actually played the game extensively, it's not as bad as people think .. it's actually quite good

What's starkly obvious to anyone that has played the game is that... you haven't.

It's not like it's debatable or anything either. Watching a Youtube video or going over to a buddies house and sneering at his Perfect 10/10 game while he plays it doesn't count as playing it, and picking up a controller for 30 seconds as if it has radiation poisoning doesn't constitute playing either.

At this point fanboys are just looking for anything. Yahtzee is a well-liked member of the gaming community, and people will take his satire to the bank as if it's serious information, since nobody else is slamming the game, even in jest. When respected review sites are going 9.3 and up, you have to find ammo wherever it's available.

You DO have to press all of those, but you never have to hold down three buttons to do anything. L1 is the only button you actually hold. Triangle toggles FPS view and R1 is a trigger so I don't see anyone "holding it down" in MGS.

I think that is what they are saying. It was completely a joke meant to make it sound even more difficult to control than it actually is, and lemmings/sheep are going for the goal line with it and pretending they actually played it and remember having to hold three buttons, even though it is totally false.

That idiot failed to mention that you don't have to hold all 3 to fire. L1 is aim, R1 is fire, and triangle TOGGLES the iron-sights. :roll:
