Hah. Unsurprising.
Haze's hype and selling power is ENTIRELY based off of the developer shooting their mouth off and being "Oh, we're going to take on Halo 3 for you, Sony fans!" which makes the Sony fans go wild and buy it in droves...
And then they cash in a few months later by releasing it on 360 with the tag "PS3's best selling game comes to 360!" and is bought by tonnes of 360 fanboys.
I'm not falling for it.
Could it be based on the fact that these are the same guys that made GoldenEye and Perfect Dark?Hah. Unsurprising.

Halo 2 is still better then most of these half ass shooters what are coming out.
People can hate all they want, but Halo is the Godfather of console shooters.

Nope. Because if it was it would've been hyped before it was made PS3 timed exclusive. And it wasn't.
[QUOTE="Newnab"]Could it be based on the fact that these are the same guys that made GoldenEye? UM WRONG. these guys are like producers and minor dudes from that team. Rares best were gone to other devs or just gone period. The director, lead programmers, story writers for PD, etc are not on this team. TImesplitters plays alot like an upgraded perfect dark and goldeneye but it lacks that Rare greatness and u cant tell. There are so many main people from that goldeneye and PD dev team missing, giving these guys credit for that game is BS.Hah. Unsurprising.

Halo, sure. Halo 2, no way. Multiplayer isn't in itself enough to justify naming a game the godfather of console FPS. and multiplayer was the only thing of value in Halo 2.
He's right though. The single player is repetitive, mediocre garbage and the multiplayer is a n00b fest filled with one of the worst community's I've ever seen.
At least theys eem to have fixed this judging by the Halo 3 beta....though no doubt the poor community will still be there :(

id argue that the story was worth it 2. it had a great story bad ending though. I was ticked at the ending. but the story was very well done. it brought new aspects. people hate on the arbiter because hes basically the raiden of Halo. which is sad because personally MGS 2>MGS 3 in story as well. allthough i thought Halo 1>Halo 2 and MGS 1>MGS 2>MGS 3[QUOTE="YEZZER"]im, pretty sure everyone hates halo 2, even lemming dont n=like it. the halo serious just sells on hype, and with the 3rd one coming out it seems as if the hype has calmed down and shifted elsswhere...................................killzone 2 anyone TheOwnerOner

If we base on how good a game is based on how many people play it, Halo 2 already lost to several titles.
The Haze developer is exaggerating...but there is a reason why the lower scoring Halif-Life 2 did win over Halo 2 for FPSGOTY.

Yeah, but because it looses and its one of the most talked about/hyped games, you're pretty much validating the developer's opinion. Its hype is unwarranted when theres several other games out there that are played by more people, even over a longer period of time.
Calling Halo 2 mediocre is a little much. Its probably one of the top 10 best console FPSes of all time and its online matchmaking system is unparalleled even today. But it is overrated. Also I think the guy might be a little jealous. Free Radical's TimeSplitters games were never really any good and those guys peaked with Goldeneye.hazuki87
TimeSplitters had some of the most enjoyable multiplayer I've ever played.

I would actually say that Goldeneye wins that title pretty easy, but if you look a little more modern then perhaps you are true. But then again, I don't really see what in the original Halo and Halo 2 that made it so overhyped, yes it's good and I enjoyed playing it but I don't see it as one of my top5 first person shooters.
OT:
There is a good chance that this is a joke/trick to make it appear more on forums like this ;)

That might speak more about the quality of online games currently available then the quality of the game.

I found the games sort of archaic. I mean for the time they were released they were way behind. Its not that the games were bad, they just never were really all that good. Though I bet multiplayer was probably fun. I'll admit I didnt play a whole lot of it.

The problem with the story, however, was its presentation. The only thing redeeming about the Halo 2 campaign was the arbiter. everything else was lame. Also, bungies level designers only seem to put effort in the multiplayer maps. Cause somehow the multiplayer maps are well designed, but the single player maps are garbage.

ofcourse people are going to start talking about it again.
The hype did not come on accident,
It's rightfully earned, there is no secret on why Halo is a great game.

I think a lot of hype for Haze has been based on some of the nice images that we've all seen. That obviously doesn't make anything more true but it is better than "based off of the developer shooting their mouth off." And I seem to remember a lot more users in here praising the game before it was announced as a timed PS3 exclusive.
And doesn't MS "cash in" when they release it on PC?
None of us are falling for your denials.
He was asked what he thought was the worst game ever and he answered Halo 2, but then he said it's not the worst game ever in the same sentence :|TheWalrusBeast
If you read the quote, he says the game is the best game at being mediocre and he is right, Halo 2 is completely mediocre in all aspects, the only good thing about it is that the auto aim compensates for terrible aiming with a controller. I would not be suprised if Halo 3 gets an AA score or lower since essentially it is just another repeat of a boring franchise that I hope dies after its 3rd installment instead of being milked to death like other trilogies with spin offs like Lord of the Rings and WarCraft.

But the real deal with the Ts games was that they weren't aiming to make games modern of up to date. they only made them because they wanted to make a good fun solid game. and that is what they did. Haze, however, is them getting serious. I don't actually know if they are able to pull it off this time.

Combat Evolved deffiantly is, though Halo 2 can be Sonny. Strong and fierce, but not too well rounded. Halo 3 will be Michael and Killzone 2/Haze can be Fredo.

If the hype for Haze was based off the images, again, the hype would've started when they RELEASED those images, which was aaages before they announced timed exclusivity. Haze was shown off, I remember, in OXM a good two or three months at least before the timed exclusivity, and I'm sure OPM or any other Playstation mag would've had somethimg similar.
And if you think there was real hype for Haze before said timed exclusivity was announced, you're crazy. Because there just wasn't. Though I'm open to persuasion if you feel like going back that far in the forums and taking a look. You can deny this if you want, it doesn't especially matter to me. But you're the one who may (potentially) be tricked into buying a (possibly) bad game by Haze's clever marketing decisions.

I agree completely with what you said. There not enough original IP anymore. There all just remakes and rehashes.
