Before BioShock and Halo fans get up in a ruckus and start throwing bananas at the screen, you might first consider that Haze does have more vehicular and environmental physics, as well as dynamic vehicle damage, than the original Halo (i.e., Note that the headline does not read Halo 3 but just Halo). And yes, it does contain more vehicles than BioShock. But then again, no one is going to contest that Haze doesn't have more vehicles than BioShock. Anyway that was just to get the air clear before fanboys take the entire headline out of proportion.
Now on to business. We still have part 2 of the remaining interview with Rob Yescombe for you, as well as a few new screenshots to accompany the interview. You can check them both out below. And judging from the polls from Haze Hype Day 6, it looks like a lot of you would prefer Haze to have a one-on-one with Kill Zone 2. It will be tough deciding what trick to pull out of the hat for both games, but I'm sure you all would probably like to be surprised. That will be for Day 8, just in case you were wondering. In the meantime, check out the interview and screenshots below.
CB Games: We've already seen the two jeep transport vehicles. But how many and what other kind of vehicles will be present in Haze?
Rob: Both the Promise Hand and Mantel have a number of vehicles at their disposal. I can't talk numbers yet, but the quad bikes are my personal favourite.
CB Games: Can vehicles be damaged or do they simply get destroyed? Or will certain vehicles be invulnerable like the Warthog on the original Halo?
Rob: The vehicles are destructable, and have progressive damage states. They'll fall apart just like you'd expect the real things to do.
CB Games: How destructible are the environments and how much of a factor will it play during shootouts?
Rob: There is a very thick layer of destructability in the game. We didn't want people to feel like they couldn't have an effect on the game world, so you can rest assured you'll be able to smash the place up a bit. As for how that effects things tactically, well, if you're hiding behind a corrugated iron barrier, don't expect protection from a grenade.
CB Games: What will the final shooting mechanics be like? Will the shooting mechanics center around being more arcade-like, or will it be more simulation oriented, like Brothers in Arms or Ghost Recon?
Rob: It's certainly not a sim, but your tactical approach to the game will change depending which side you're on. For the more gung-ho player, Mantel will fit them to a tee, but for the more wily players out there, The Promise Hand will be ideal.
And that concludes part 2 of our interview with Rob. You can check out those screenshots and be sure to look for the Haze Hype Button icon to the left side of the screen if you want to take a look at our previous coverage of Haze.
