[QUOTE="Not-A-Stalker"][QUOTE="Bansheesdie"]I have a question about Haze's physics, does the vegetation respond to players, bullets, explosions, etc.?Bansheesdie
I think so. I'm not 100% sure though...
And this William Usher guy (the guy writing all the Haze hype articles) just seems stupider and stupider each day... I wasn't even aware Bioshock had vehicles...
What was shown at E3 didn't have it, and I don't think thats something that can be programmed in over night.
Ah you're right. I thought it did for some reason, but I just watched a few Ubidays videos and got nothing... I don't really care about that kind of stuff anyways. By the way, all the Haze presentations in E3 that I saw didn't even have vegetation, they were all in urban areas. :o
oh yeah and bioshock doesnt even have vehicles!:P when i read this topic i was like wtf??p0op
LOL, exactly
PS3 is my preferred console, and I am anticipating Haze as well, as it sounds like it is going to have some great features, but all these guys are doing by continually playing the "better than Halo" card is setting the game up for unrealistic expectations, and hence, disappointment. Would it not be better to let this game stand on it's own merits, and speak for itself without having the devs go on overkill trying to generate hype by constantly touting how much better it is than Halo?
All this constant "Haze is better than Halo" talk does is prove that the devs are trying to get name recognition for their product by riding on the wave of the Halo name....which is kind of pathetic. Because it shows that they are not confident enough to advertise Haze on it's own, without having to constantly compare the game to Halo. I am no huge Halo fan, but I recognize it's success, and it is indeed a proven franchise, whereas Haze is a new IP that is completely untested, and unproven.
In my opinion, and just being a realist here, it would be far better for Free Radical to walk softly, but carry a big stick with Haze, and then take everyone by storm if the game is indeed going to be so good, rather than be overconfident, talk a big game....and then underdeliver when the final product is released.:|

Bioshock has vehicles?emawk
Thats what I was thinking.
I just thought TC mixed up the games.
But Haze doesn't seem like its gonna have good gameplay, I only wanna play it because the story sounds like it could turn out to be a good singleplayer game. Actually it sounds more intriguing than most consoleshooters.

No, TC got it right. That is exactly what the article says.
FRD's Halo bash reference #4305. Seriously, give it up already. Out of all the FPS coming over the next 2 years Haze looks the most standard and generic of them all and I'm being 100% honest with you.
Comparing Haze to a perfect 10 like BioShock is automatic pwnage.

I'm not sure which is funnier, that or the fact that article makes it sound like surpasing Halo (note: not Halo 3, Halo CE) in physics is somehow an accomplishment.

I was under the impression that it was based on an interview with the devs? Oh well, even so....my point still stands. If I were Free Radical, I would tell all of the media outlets that Haze is Haze, and will be judged by it's own merits, and does not need a"Halo killer" label in order to be recognized as a great game. In other words, I would stop all of the "better than Halo" talk because all it will do is set the game up for utter disappointment. Personally, I would like to see it succeed on it's own, if it is indeed what is being promised, how about you?

when you are competing in any genre you always compare your game(or whatever your making) to the top game or games in the market and right not that top game is halo.
"And yes, it does contain more vehicles than BioShock............ " So saints row is better then haze because it has more cars, hookers and FBI Suv'sTHE_PREZIDENTViva Pinata is better than Haze, more pinatas

Maybe they are thinking 'screw going after Halo 3, Let beat Halo 1?'
I am sure the previewer messed up. He said it has more vehciles than Bioshock but then said no one is going to contest that Haze doesn't have more vehciles than Bioshock. It is just badly written.
So let me get this straight, the best they can do to hype this game is "Haze has better vehicle physics than a 6 year old game, and more vehicles than a game in which having vehicles wouldn't even make sense!"TyrantDragon55
Spot on evaluation.

Well the interview was with Rob Yescomb, but he didn't even come close to mentioning Halo in this interview.
But I do completely agree with you. And FRD hasn't even said anything about Halo in forever... It's always the media, not FRD. Just look at all of Cinemablends Haze hype articles...
Its instances like these (media calling out Halo, not FRD) when people read wrong and somehow think that it's FRD calling out Halo. Because they're not.

Not every successful FPS that comes out tries to claim to be a "Halo killer." And there is no need for Haze to be constantly compared to Halo in order to be recognized for what it is. Afterall, if it is going to be so innovative, and so spectacular, why does it need the "better than Halo" label?
Free Radical, and Ubisoft can market the game competively as just another game, and if it is indeed so spectacular, the reviews and hype will take care of itself, and then maybe it can actually EARN the title of Halo killer. But, the fact of the matter is that it is unproven, therefore, subject to criticism when such lofty comparisons are made to a proven hit, such as Halo. And odds are, such unearned, and unfounded hype will only set the game up for utter disappointment and ridicule. If it is beter than Halo, let it be proven.
Talk and unearned hype against something that is proven, and has earned hype is cheap. That is just looking at it from a realistic point of view instead of a wishful one.

LMAO! My bad. Cinemaboobs are idiots then.
I'm buying Haze when I get a PS3.
I know FRD are talented and I expect this game to have the great SP and MP it's been hyped by FRD to have. They're good devs so I'm expecting good things from Haze.

How long have you been saying "when I get a PS3"?
Bioshock is genius and will take a dump on every other FPS coming out this year. Comparing it to any other game is an insult to Ken Levine.foxhound_fox

What about the commercial jet airliner?
Everytime the devs talk about Haze they sound more and more desperate to be taken seriously, only to lose more and more credibility.myke2010

Wtf lol, Haze looks cool but those are horrible points to hype a game on If a game DIDN'T have better physicsthen the first Halo, it would be just plain sad. And Bioshock doesn't even have vehicles...Haze looks kinda cool, I'm still waiting for it to be released on the 360.Shrapnel99
It's always dangerous to compare a new IP to Halo. Look at what happened to Brute Force (if you remeber that game).
which is just silly cuz we all clearly know which game is going to be the better game between Halo 3 and KZ2....the game that will OBVIOUSLY have the most innovation and rock the industry the most....we all know which game its going to be...okay so...first you state your "argument"...then you state why your "argument" is absolutely pointless and isn't really a valid argument.
This is just pathetic.
Halo 3 is better than killzone 2 because killzone 2 has less master chief's!!! That's essentially what you said.

Last time I heard something from them they were spouting off how Haze would be comparable to Halo and such. My first glimpse of the article and I assumed it was them shooting their mouths off again due to the Bioshock and Halo references being in the same italicized font as the FRD comments. I reread it and see my mistake.Bioshock is genius and will take a dump on every other FPS coming out this year. Comparing it to any other game is an insult to Ken Levine.foxhound_fox
We haven't played both games yet.
Haze could turn out better than Bioshock for all we know. I'm hyping both AA, but the main reason I want Haze is because I know FRD make a killer MP portion in their games.
Before BioShock and Halo fans get up in a ruckus and start throwing bananas at the screen, you might first consider that Haze does have more vehicular and environmental physics, as well as dynamic vehicle damage, than the original Halo (i.e., Note that the headline does not read Halo 3 but just Halo). And yes, it does contain more vehicles than BioShock. But then again, no one is going to contest that Haze doesn't have more vehicles than BioShock. Anyway that was just to get the air clear before fanboys take the entire headline out of proportion.
Now on to business. We still have part 2 of the remaining interview with Rob Yescombe for you, as well as a few new screenshots to accompany the interview. You can check them both out below. And judging from the polls from Haze Hype Day 6, it looks like a lot of you would prefer Haze to have a one-on-one with Kill Zone 2. It will be tough deciding what trick to pull out of the hat for both games, but I'm sure you all would probably like to be surprised. That will be for Day 8, just in case you were wondering. In the meantime, check out the interview and screenshots below.CB Games: We've already seen the two jeep transport vehicles. But how many and what other kind of vehicles will be present in Haze?
Rob: Both the Promise Hand and Mantel have a number of vehicles at their disposal. I can't talk numbers yet, but the quad bikes are my personal favourite.
CB Games: Can vehicles be damaged or do they simply get destroyed? Or will certain vehicles be invulnerable like the Warthog on the original Halo?
Rob: The vehicles are destructable, and have progressive damage states. They'll fall apart just like you'd expect the real things to do.
CB Games: How destructible are the environments and how much of a factor will it play during shootouts?
Rob: There is a very thick layer of destructability in the game. We didn't want people to feel like they couldn't have an effect on the game world, so you can rest assured you'll be able to smash the place up a bit. As for how that effects things tactically, well, if you're hiding behind a corrugated iron barrier, don't expect protection from a grenade.
CB Games: What will the final shooting mechanics be like? Will the shooting mechanics center around being more arcade-like, or will it be more simulation oriented, like Brothers in Arms or Ghost Recon?
Rob: It's certainly not a sim, but your tactical approach to the game will change depending which side you're on. For the more gung-ho player, Mantel will fit them to a tee, but for the more wily players out there, The Promise Hand will be ideal.
And that concludes part 2 of our interview with Rob. You can check out those screenshots and be sure to look for the Haze Hype Button icon to the left side of the screen if you want to take a look at our previous coverage of Haze.Link

no,no,no,no Bioshock allready blew this game out of the water. Sorry IMO Bioshock is all but a lock for AAA(yes casey i know nothing is a lock fo AAA). as for Haze it could go either way really. Free Radical could deliver on the single player aspect and since we know they can do MP. that would be AAA. but if the SP stinks which i think it will for all the junk they are talking, id say it will be AA. But if the MP is as fun as Timesplitters who is going to complain really.[QUOTE="KAS3Y_JAM3Z"]which is just silly cuz we all clearly know which game is going to be the better game between Halo 3 and KZ2....the game that will OBVIOUSLY have the most innovation and rock the industry the most....we all know which game its going to be...okay so...first you state your "argument"...then you state why your "argument" is absolutely pointless and isn't really a valid argument.

Sigh, this article gets the same responses everywhere...
The devs did NOT say that, Cinemablend did.
Bioshock obviously doesn't have any vehicles (as far as I know) and they didn't say which Halo, it's meant to be a joke but it backfired horribly.
Read the article before you comment.
These guys made Goldeneye, Timesplitters and Perfect Dark. They have a better console FPS track record than Bungie does.gingerdividthey dont have everybody from goldeneye and perfect dark. they are missing some key people like the director, lead programmer, etc.
also the goldeney and perfect dark formula is allready proven dated considering Timesplitters is a throwback shooter tha plays like those 2 shooters.
Bungie made 2 AAA in Halo and Halo 2. Both games played different from each other because of the different things they added in the second game.
Bungie also made the marathon and myst series. both AAA marathon was a shooter. MYst was an rts. both genres have stiff competition on PC and Bungie delivered. In fact when Bungie made Halo for PC it was AAA. when someone else made a port it got A.
If anything Bungie is a mile ahead of free radical in quality. Its not even close.

Free Radical still consists of almost the whole team who made Goldeneye and PD, Haze seems to be a little different and dosen't rely on the dated mechanics that were in PD and Goldeneye. I call sleeper hit on this one, granted it wont be no Halo... but the point I made still remains.
