Haze to differ from American FPS games .

Just ignore the "Halo-killer" hype.

Halo is still the biggest FPS series so saying "Halo-killer" automatically gets attention. It doesn't necessarily mean this game will "kill" Halo.

I expect it to be a solid FPS game, just like PD, Goldeneye, and Timesplitters. Great multiplayer for sure, that's why I'm most excited about it.

I am looking foward to this even without prior history. But since it was mentioned like 2 weeks ago. I get mixed feelings. Had great fun with Golden Eye and PD. But TS to me was passable. I had one bad experience and one ok experience with the games. But Haze had me from the first trailer. I just didn't expect the hype to be this big really.

My theory is that people want to see people gather around a game other than Halo. Halo has a huge fanbase and legion of followers. I don't think it's so much one game beating another as one game being more iconic than the other, and there are multiple ways to achieve that other than gameplay.

I believe the original hatred began due to all of the praise that Halo received even though games like Half Life, Doom,& Far Cry were already better FPS experiences... the initial hatred came from hermits and compared to PC FPS, Halo has already been beaten on more than one occassion. The PS2 fanbase is obviously pretty huge and one of the things that kept us from buying an xbox in the first place was the fact that a good number of us WERE also 'hermits' and had access to most of the library on PC. After finally playing Halo, it was somewhat disappointing but I did have to put it in perspective with other console FPS and not compare it to my favorite shooters on PC. All in all, it's a good series but not as untouchable as ppl make it out to be. It is however a cult phenomina which will likely gather critical attention no matter how good the game actually is. (not that it will suck, but I do think we will see better shooters this gen based off of my experience so far)

I think it's because people didn't expect to see good exclusive FPS games coming to the PS3 this gen after how little the PS2 had in that department.

Resistance was solid, so there's hope for these exclusive FPS games I think.

I mean, I knew Haze was going to be awesome the moment it was announced cause I think FRD are brilliant, but yeah, lack of exclusive FPS games for the PS2 and the sudden change now is probably the reason for so much hype.

That and the fact that this game is being developed by good devs (unlike GRG) so it could actually match Halo.

For me for any console shooter to match halo it has to be in the MP department. I can play Halo for hours straight MP alone rather its split screen lan or online. Well I can't go back to Halo 2 because the Beta has spoiled me. I'm interested to see what's in Haze's MP.

Don't call me a console gamer. Read the sig. I'm a bigtime PC gamer (have been for years) and I still think Halo is a great FPS. It sure as hell beats FarCry, in my opinion.
