I mean seriously. Who didn't play all the Jak and Dexter games all ready. The only thing different is it is HD. Big deal. The graphics were fine on the PS2. You can pick up these games for like 5 bucks a piece these days. The same is with sly cooper. The splinter cell series was a terrible HD remake. I don't think Chaos theory could look much better than it did on the Xbox. The graphics were amazing. Atleast on the 3ds the remakes are in 3d so its worth playing them again. Like Zelda on the 3ds also has upgraded graphics from the 64 version. They only put these ports on 3ds so they would have a better line up at launch until other new games could be developed. I myself will be boycotting these remakes.

I didn't play Jax and Dexter, or Sly Cooper. Played Shadows of the Colossus not Ico, but SOTC was so good it's still worth it. Played GoW 1 and 2 before, but never got my own copies.

At least with HD collections the choice is up to you whether to invest in it or not, unlike DLCs where the complete experience requires you to shell out additional cash for a game you already bought.

[QUOTE="Joedgabe"]

It depends on the Bundle. I think the MG one is fantastic I mean 3 games really? o_o

The Jack and Daxter one are 3 games also so that's fine. However the Ico and Shadow of the Colussus was more Fan Service and a little too much considering it was only 2 games should have been 30$ or at least included some kind of Art book.

2Chalupas

You know there's only two team ICO games that even could have been on such a PS2 remaster, right? The God of War collection that started it all was also "only" 2 games, but Sony did such great jobs with these that it basically got the ball rolling with that GoW collection. And actually God of War was "only" 720P/60fps, whereas when they created ICO they made it 1080P native and smooth framerates all around (if I recall ICO was 60fps, and Shadow was 30fps whereas Shadow had miserable framerates on the PS2). I think it's alot more than "fan service", it will draw in alot of people like me that never played these on PS2.

Just to prove that a collection with 3 games isn't always better than 2, look at the junk job Ubisoft did with Splinter Cell collection. They ddin't even bother optimizing it for 30fps, let alone 1080p/60fps. Each game in that collection should have EASILY been at least 720p/60fps or 1080p/30fps with just a little optimization work... but Ubisoft just went for the cash without putting the necessary time in.

That being said I definitely plan on getting the MGS set just because it sounds like it's a solid collection. 3 games is of course a better value, and if there are 3 or 4 PS2 games available I would hope they'd bundle them all together as one "HD remastered" set. The one I really want would be a Ratchet and Clank collection.

I recently played and platinumed ICO. It's probably the most fulfilling experience i've had in a game. I missed out on these on PS2, so I'm very grateful for the HD re-release; it looks beautiful too. Will play SOTC soon!

I kind of like the HD remakes. They seem stupid if you have already played the game, but if you missed out, it's nice to get a good older game without the cringingly bad graphics.

People this gen has been spoiled by today's definition of "remake." A remake is like Resident Evil on the PS1 to Resident Evil on the Gamecube. That's a remake. Today's definition of remakes are just upscale games. pathetic.

i like them. i bought the god of war collection a bit back vefore GoW3 came out because i never played them. i also plan on getting ico and SotC since i havent played those either and the last guardian has sparked my interest. i probably wont get the jak and daxters though as they dont interest me. i am getting the halo CE remake here soon as well as i havent played CE in like 8 years and i have been wanteing to play it for a while.

rereleases are good if you ask me.

A better idea is if the studios were to just simply make newer games instead of rehashing old crap.

I think developers aren't prepared to take the risk of a new IP/installment of a franchise in case it doesn't sell well/ruins the franchise. They know with re-releases that they're guaranteed to sell and be appreciated; it's less of a risk.

Actually think HD re-releases are great. Didn't used to get things re-released, maybe you missed it, maybe wasn't your thing then, maybe you just want to play it again in HD.

Sometimes its re-releasing a game so that gamers of the current gen can experience some of the great games that we gamers from past gens have experienced without trying to find older consoles/games at retail or on ebay.

huh...then I guess "pure milkage" is a fundamental aspect of capitalism (getting people to purchase products they really don't need by convincing them they do). If someone wants an HD remake, more power to them. If you don't personally like them, don't buy them.

I actually never played the Jak and Dexter games. I am interested. The Resident Evil HD remakes are sweet too. Not sure what the problem is.

HD remakes usually mean a revamp of the graphics. For some, that's good enough. Judging from the gripes many have with BF3, I'm wondering what if DICE merely made a remake of BF2 (PC)? Same game except with 2011 graphics standards.

i have to agree, i totally regret getting ico/sotc and it was only $25 during the launch sale.

crap post processing 3d and tbo there was not really any point in upgrading the gfx those games, never depended on gfx to be classics.

i should have spent the money on something i had never played before.

oh well, lesson learned.

I agree even though HD collections are good for gamers who missed last gen, the real versions of the games are on and always will be on the last gen consoles and sony should add backwards compatability to the slim like microsoft has did to their slim.

I think they're good personally. I haven't played any of the MGS games yet so I'll be getting the HD collection when it comes out.

Well...no s***.

But also, not totally. If somebody never played Halo on the XBOX they can now play it on the 360 with better graphics instead of having to hunt down a copy of the original.
