Your right, I for one would be ecstatic to plug in a 3rd party cable just to get HDMI, why would i want and HDMI Cable itself when i can have a 3rd party, probably going to break your system, HDMI Adapter. Your logic is a little flawed my friend, if you really wanted to make it hurt you would find the price for this thing then pull up the fact that its still cheaper then the PS3.

if this is true, then Microsoft has miked the lemmings like crazy because ALOT of people traded in there regular 360 for a elite one just for HDMI, which does not include me because i didnt wanna spend an extra 300 for hdmi and a bigger harddrive :) so yay, im not owned

if you think a hdmi adapter will brick a xbox 360 system, then your dillusional its not a intec cooler, it doesnt take power away from the 360, its an adapter like a HDMI to DVI adapter, its not going to harm the console

Your right i have never had a crappy adapter or a 3rd party memory card break anything. Oh wait, my game cube says differently. With that aside you may be right, but im betting that this adapter isnt going to be top notch, and its output will show that.

It is still analog. Analog signals can be sent over HDMI. So unless this cable has a D/A converter built in (doubt because of the cost) or your TV has one the signal that will be sent over the cable will be analog. Even with a D/A converter you still get signal loss.

It pains me to say this as a somewhat obsessive home theater hobbyist, but HDMI is so fluffy. If it weren't for the audio quality, it would be well into whiz-bang territory. Most people don't even know what the hell HDMI is besides the fact that it is NEW and has HD in the name so therefore must be good, let alone how it compares to high quality component hook-ups. I couldn't fathom paying hundreds of dollars for an HDMI port on a console. That's insanity.

It can't do a digital signal. That box is converting analog signals back into digital signals, which is stupid.

Ditto, literally.

Aquos tvs kick ass and 1080p never looked prettier.

Besides, wouldn't a converter for the 360 make it look like straight up ass due to loss of signal in the transition?

GREAT! ANOTHER addon for the xbox to, more expensively, give you what the PS3 already has. And as usual, it's worse. Analog to digital output isn't the same as direct digital output. The conversion process makes it lose quality.

But good for xbox people who are not able to use HDMI.

Digital to analog conversions happen all the time and on a number of devices: video game consoles, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, etc. These conversions can happen on the main system board several times before the signal is sent from the mainboard to the TV for viewing. It really depends on how well it does it. The conversion process can be lossless.

Forget debating the quality of the video, I support that HDMI does remove a lot of the clutter, although the cable itself is somewhat rigid and hard to fold/bend without ruining it, but still, it's better than 6 outputs from one wire.

My guess would be no. The 360 (premium version) itself will still be required to output an analog signal (which would be converted to digital outside the unit) and thus it won't upscale a DVD since it has no way of knowing HDMI is enabled. The only way it could is if the HDMI adapter uses a vga connection at its source.

yet another item that MS will be putting out there to rip its customers off
