Teh sad things is you will likely be suspended for a day at least, some of the staff have issues or just dont actually read the report before banning ... Ive been done for some ridiculous things.
[QUOTE="BitterExtract"]Have you played Halo 3? mIf you have I don't think you would make such a statement. Well, I've played it (albeit just some online at a friend's) but my main complaint about the game was the lighting and the extreme bright/dark. HDR is great if used right. Like in HL2 and the episodes, or like in MP3.
But for example in Twilight Princess, when you're in the wolf form in the twilight, especially in the snowy mountain area = eyes am burned.

I like it. It was very nice in both MP3 and H3 . Its really nice when it comes to the sun. Its the only way to make it realistic. Not that it matters.meetroid8MP3 uses Bloom, not HDR.

Thats what I thought but I wasn't sure......Oh well HDR isn't bad its not particularly great or anything but its not bad.

you really must be an amateur at gaming. A truecasual amongst a group of casuals. Halo 3 is a perfect example of how HDR lighting is done. It's not terrible, it is pointless if you do not have an HDR capable TV.SER69HDR has nothing to do with your TV. :?

yeah over the weekend i got reported twice and suspended for two thought out and unharmful posts. i found no reason at all why i could be reported and suspended for 3 DAYS! even after i read over the posts a few times. i dont even think they read the post they just saw it and clicked suspend when there was nothing unsulting in it what so ever.

tell me about it i got banned ages ago for laughing the terrible way they had constructed their sentence because english wasnt their first language, next time someone had written something illegible i asked if english was their first language and got banned for trolling cos they took offense, just highlights the ignorance of mods at times

It does...
Dynamic Range
The term dynamic range refers to the maximum range between the darkest and brightest parts of a displayed image. Compared to a 600:1 contrast ratio for conventional CRTs and 500:1 for a good flat-panel LCD, the HDR display technology offers a contrast ratio of 200,000:1. This means displays using our technology offer more than ten times higher brightness as well as a black that is more than ten times darker than any commercially available display. This remarkable display capability covers nearly the entire luminance range encountered in the real world-in increments so small, they are not even distinguishable to the human eye.
High-Dynamic-Range Displays
The DR37-P is a spectacular breakthrough in display technology. It uses an array of individually modulated LED backlights to provide 10 times the brightness and 100 times the contrast of existing television and computer monitors. The Extreme Dynamic Range display delivers more vibrant images, enabling you to see information onscreen in vivid detail.
Extreme Dynamic Range
Over 3,000 cd/m2 brightness
0.015 cd/m2 black level
Contrast ratio > 200,000:1
High-definition 1,920 x 1,080
37-inch screen
16 bits per color
Array of individually modulated LED (IMLED) backlights

No, that's a TV that corrects contrast ratio. HDR (the one used in games) is done by the GPU alone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_rendering[QUOTE="SER69"]HDR has nothing to do with your TV. :?[QUOTE="MagnuzGuerra"][QUOTE="SER69"]It's not terrible, it is pointless if you do not have an HDR capable TV.MagnuzGuerra

It's like watching a 1080p blu-ray movie on a SD-TV... it will look somewhat better... but for the full experience you will need a 1080p TV.

Sorry, you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.
BD will not look any better on an SD TV, in fact HD resolutions won't even play on a SD TV. SD TV don't have HDMI inputs either. You can't play Blu Ray discs on a SD TV. Standard def TV's CAN NOT accept any incoming resolutions greater than 480i.
And there is no "HDR-capable" monitor (HDR in the sense of the lighting scheme used in games) television. There are TV's with varying contrast ratios and what not (and lots of those numbers are pure vodoo science, NO LCDmonitor has come close to matching the black levels of a superb CRT monitor.) The monitor you listed will not perform any better black-level wise than a CRT monitor, it's the nature of the differences between LCD and CRT.
And BTW, that Brightside model you listed isn't a consumer model and it costs about 50,000.
The only special thing about it is its contrast ratio and blinding brightness. Again though, it has NOTHING to do with HDR lighting used in gaming.

HDR in GPU (the correct algorithm) only corrects contrast too, since the output color range is limited. What blurs the screen is the "bloom effect", a separate process that can be done with/without HDR. The "burned eye" effect is only an accumulation and interpolation of the color range calculation. HDR doesn't have anything to do with resolution either. Please Log In to post.
