250 K sold? I guess there goes that argument that because of the amount of money thrown at the developers for the game means it will instantly be a hit. Reyes360

it has sold horrible.
I think a majority of gamers simply rented HS, its not worth the buy cause of how short it is and if it sells at least 400k it will then start making profit (don't forget production and marketting cause they take a chunk out of profits). As for the killzone 2 comment if that game is anything less then a freakin 10 with how much money and resources is behind it then GG needs to be bombed an wiped from existance (you could say the same for MGS4).

Excuses for what?
The problem with many next gen games is that they are spending all their money on making the game look nice but because of that most of them are very short. If they would have added about 5-7 more hours more gameplay on to HS it would have sold much better. But a number of new gen games are having this problem.HarlockJC
But wasn't Blu-ray supposed to be the end-all, be-all to this problem?

well they should have made more content instead of putting 2389579867 different languages on the disc
same thing is happening to Lair alsoEltroz
Except Lair was a bad game. Heavenly Sword was only above average, but very short. Does anyone know where to actually get these sales figure, because they pop up infrequently on gaming sites but I can't find them online.

Heavenly Sword was a one day rental.

I never said it wasn't. I was just saying that Lair failed because it was a bad game. HS failed because it was so short. Sony should drop the price down to forty dollars or something and try to increase sail through the holiday season.

No lower costs will be the only fix to it...Has long has gaming company spend to much money to give us eye candy games are going to keep being short. There will be some games like Mass Effect that this does not apply. But they will be few compared to the games that are less than 15 hours of game play.

GeoW only cost 10 million to make and was longer then HS and a much better game. Throwing money at crappy devs doesnt make the game better in the end. 40 million budget for killzone 2 might allow them to hire a crap lode of artists and programmers which makes the graphics awsome but the fact remains Guerilla is still Guerilla and I havent heard any news of them hiring any competent designers.

NO way will Killzone 2 match its hype.
NO way will Killzone 2 match its hype.Reyes360Of Gears of War? Maybe, I doubt it'll match in quality though. But then again Gears cost 10 million to make.

The game was well worth my money.[QUOTE="TOAO_Cyrus1"][QUOTE="HarlockJC"]The problem with many next gen games is that they are spending all their money on making the game look nice but because of that most of them are very short. What what? I am not talking about hype I am just saying its possibleto make games that have great graphics witout 40 million budgets as long as the developers are good. Imagine what Epic could have done with 20 or 40 million dollars.
[QUOTE="godlyinsane"]Wait it says heavely sword sold 221k on VGcharts Reyes360
ok go with 221K.. what a success
Its better than 125kServes them right for charging people $60 for a 6 hour game, which automatically equates to $10 per hour, 6 minutes per dollar. There's nothing logical about buying the game rather than renting it.
HS has been out for like a month IIRC...and has sold 130k+....not good...but not bad...130,000 X $60 = $7.8m...also Holiday Season will help and advertising too...I expect HS to sell about 400-500k by the end of the year...-D3MO-
Utter failure. I think Halo 3 outsold Heavenly Sword total sales right now in about 10 minutes.

and this a huge reason as to why bluray is unnecessaryFlopped but it will make it's money back. And 125K is not accurate. Holiday sales will increase, look at UK, surge in sales of HS and resistance last week.jdang307
How? 20 mil doesn't include marketing (does it also include shipping, packaging, etc?). Plus its not like they'll be getting all the money from the game, that gets split in all different directions.
