Actually its sold nearly double your quoted figure. Lifetime US sales will easily be above 600k (It will be another 15-20 weeks before it settles to 3-5k a week, and even at that rate it will sell atleast another 100k) Not great, but ok.

EDIT: This is based on Motorstorm performance, which Heavenly sword is roughly performing the same as. Motorstorm is currently above 500k

While that is true, the install base at the moment is considerbaly higher, and will also get a massive boost in the coming weeks after the price drop. Also these figures are for US only. Its not inconceivable that it has sold half a million worldwide, but a more realistic estimate is 350-450k.

Who knows. I think Heavenly sword may benefit from that launch phase window. Early (good) titles on the 360 even to this day sell decent numbers from people buying new consoles. Oblivion and gears of war have both been doing very well ever since Bioshock kick started the 360 back in August. Resistance and motorstorm have both seen this effect also, and i think warhawk and heavenly sword will also benefit from this.

given the extra time ($) and effort (more $) it takes to make a ps3 game, i'd say many publishers will lose muuuuch money on the ps3..

then again, this was correctly speculated the day sony announced the ridiculous price point...

At least my old GBA games could last me 200 TOTAL HOURS because of replayability. Thats right, game boy games, with game boy graphics. Your telling me that a ps3 game trades better graphics for 190 something hours of gameplay?!?!

What has happened to this world

Heavenly Sword could've been a good AAA and GOTY Nominee if it were a good 40 hours.

But that's an if. I blame Sony and blu-ray and humans for speaking too many languages.

The problem with many next gen games is that they are spending all their money on making the game look nice but because of that most of them are very short. If they would have added about 5-7 more hours more gameplay on to HS it would have sold much better. But a number of new gen games are having this problem.HarlockJC

No no no.

Blu-ray was supposed to automatically guarantee a game would be long.

Heavenly Sword has definitely done better than 125K, although unless that budget you quoted includes marketing, etc. it will be hard to tell how many they need to sell to see a profit, but I know its definitely done better than 125K even just in the first month and it will likely make a profit in the end.

Tell that to a enterprise division that is barely staying afloat, and losing roughly 12 million every game they produce...

250 K sold? I guess there goes that argument that because of the amount of money thrown at the developers for the game means it will instantly be a hit. Reyes360

Reyes, I see your back, and I guess you are truly one of the stupidest lemmings on this entire board. You are not even worth arguing with. I feel dirty from just bumping your thread.

killzone will obviously make a profit since there will be no other games besides MGS. unless it turns out like lair, but i doubt it...the controls wont be as crappy.

Totally agree. Just because a game has an XXXX amount of budget doesn't mean it will sell as much or would sell more to make profit. Heavenly Sword is just one example of a Sony exclusive game with a big budget that didn't sell well and didn't make them any profits. Sony is losing money. Not just in hardware, in software too. Sony will lose more with Killzone 2.

This game will definately sell over 500k, making it profitable for sony. Alot of games don't sell to there potential till months after, it took Shadow Of Colossus several months before coming a million seller on PS2!

This is weak flaimbait. Killzone 2 will sell well, for this reason.
PREMIERE FPS on PLAYSTATION 3(meaning its supposed be better than the eventual bioshock port and UT3 and COD4).

As with movies, large budgets don't mean anything if you are creatively bankrupt. heretrix

What does that have to do with what he just said? Because you have money to make the movie doesn't mean its going to be good creatively as with games.

i dont know how accurate your numbers are, but i think it will get in the green eventually and probably sell a million worldwide like motorstorm and resistance.

when i get my ps3 im gonna buy it, not for $60 but i will get it discounted at target or something.

This argument is so dumb my head hurts. also, Heavenly Swrod sold 184K copies in its first three weeks... more than resistance did, which has now sold almost two million copies...

The size of the budget doesn't really affect the quality of the game that much, since so much of its quality is based on design decisions. Lost Planet was only okay, and it had a huge bidget.

Personally, I see Killzone 2 being crippled by average gameplay and graphics that look really nice but are dull.

Well, not really. Thats what the retail stores got, Sony probably didn't sell them copies of Heavenly Sword for $60 each, plus you have to subtract the advertising costs.

Resistence sold 2 million 0.o Motorstorm(Some how, before bundle) sold 1 million. Killzone 2 will have to sell atleast 1 million to recover that high as crap budget. or 900K. which i can see it doing. Liberation was good and it sold...

Large budgets =/= success.

For example, Geometry Wars is a smash hit, and the "budget" is pretty much nonexistant.

No. It's supposed to be the end-all, be-all to the barrier to this problem. It's up to the dev's to take advantage of it.

Resistance and Heavenly Sword were the two big movers in the surge in the UK with the price drop. It will move units when the price is dropped worldwide.

Killzone will probably be one of the best selling titles of next year (on any system).

Hope it turns out good but I must admit I'm much more hyped about other PS3 titles like MGSIV, GT5, LBP, and a few more big ones next year.

I dont see why its so hard for people to understand. HS was a great game and it tore up the rental charts. Why didnt people buy it? Because its 6 hours long and has no online componets . In other words it has no replay value. KZ2 will have multiplayer and a longer campagine. Thus yes it will probably sell more.
