. Bottom line, the game is not a first person shooter and it doesn't feature unrealistic character models or characters. The game has a compelling story and adult dialouge and situations. As a gamer that's in his late 20's I can't wait for that. But I can understand how a younger gamer would be dismissive of the game. To each their own. Not saying all younger gamers are down on it either. I just think that the people complaining about this game aren't the people it was targeted at and most of those people are in their teens or very early 20s. Finally something for the older and grownup gamer. CyanX73

this on the money. i think most of the people bashing this are the young mtv teens who happen to unfortunately be the lowest common denominator that gets catered to corporately for the entire passing of their youth (omg teh grafx r so gud so it must AAAAAAAAAAA game lets drink mountain dewz and listen to soulja boy) . i say this because most of the people i know who are in their 20's are old enough to see this for what it is, an interactive story/movie which is thoroughly awesome. if you want to say this is like dragons lair because "something happens and you must press buttons in the right order to succed" guess what, thats every gradius, mario bros, final fantasy, pac man, metal gear solid, resident evil, castlevania.... in fact, THATS EVERY VIDEO GAME EVER MADE. in EVERY VIDEO GAME EVER MADE you must PRESS BUTTONS IN THE RIGHT ORDER TO SUCCED..... thats kinda the point.

also from what i understand you DO control the character, you DO control their actions, you DO control what happens in a situation by how you react and you DO have different dialogue options which may or may not affect the rest of the game. if you don't consider that in depth then i dunno what is.

Your character walks by pressing R2, not the analog stick (it's used only to look), and all the combat scenerios are QTE's. It is a very on-rails experience, but not in the traditional sense. There's nothing wrong with that for me. I love when QTE's are done right and can be used to create a compelling cinematic presentation that normal gameplay usually can't. With that said, if this were a multiplat, everyone would be trashing it.

[QUOTE="hy4k"] what's the difference?

None. Everyone knows that you look for clues in Dragon's Lair. :roll: Knock this game for being simplistic all you want. I'd much rather have Heavy Rain to get my wife and other casuals into playing instead of some casual/pimp-my-ride-trash. This will actually have depth and will probably be a great story.

MGS has movies in between gameplay. Heavy rain has interactive movies instead of gameplay I love the way cows have convinced themselves that quick time events are awesome now. they're pretty much the worst thing about every game they're in

I doubt this will bring the casual in. Despite its simplistic design, it's very niche, as are all of Quantic Dream's previous titles. I expect under 200,000 units the first week and a slow stream after that. It's a shame, but their games never seem to catch on and Heavy Rain is in the same vein as an Indigo Prophecy. Not to mention, it's one of the more adult games we've seen, so that'll cut off a good portion of the casual market. It already has been confirmed to have sex, nudity, violence, and very vulgar language. And this is why I can't wait for it.8)

lol so you'll be playing a videogame for the story. pretty much confirms my interactive movie theory and what depth are you talking about? all you do is press the right button at the right time to further the game. if that's your idea of depth then casual/pimp-my-ride-trashmay be too advanced for you you should probably start out with a Whac-A-Mole game and work your way up from there

What's wrong with taking a different kind of approach to the way a creator tells a story in a game? Sure, it's not a traditional game. Sure, it's more of an interactive movie that you press buttons to. But you're still more involved in it than a movie, but less than a normal game, or actually even more so, because you build a stronger bond with the characters due to the players direct involvement. There's no game over screens here. If you mess up, that character dies and is cut out of the script, which in return makes you more involved to keep said character alive. Don't like it, don't buy it. I welcome it, though.
