Major kudos to Cage and the talented team! Great news!

Awesome, great for interactive narrative and nonlinear storytelling. The closest thing to Heavy Rain was Facade, an autonomous AI experiment.
Good to hear! Im glad that Heavy Rain and Alan Wake are selling copies :)
Sometimes games like these two dont sell well at all.
But I really do think both games will sell well for years to come as well. They are both quite unique.
Heavy Rain might not be the best game on the ps3.. but ya know what? Its the most FUN ive had on the ps3. I couldnt put the controller down when I got this game, it was just so addicting and I really wanted to see how the story played out.
One of only 3 games I completed this year RDR(well almost done) and Singularity. It was a lot of fun but ofcourse didn't have the length like a RDR game. It was different and I really enjoyed it but I just wish there were some more QTE fights as those were the best parts of the game.

Alan Wake is selling well? That game is getting price drops like crazy. It's already $30-$40.[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]Alan Wake is selling well? That game is getting price drops like crazy. It's already $30-$40.Good to hear! Im glad that Heavy Rain and Alan Wake are selling copies :)

Yeah, Alan Wake isn't selling well like the above poster mentions. I plan to pick up the game though when AW hits $29.99 mark.
Nice to see a good new IP sell well :) Unfortunately it wasn't the case for Alan Wake...bobcheeseballAlan wake hasn't been out nearly as long as HR. Either way it was one of the worse games ive played (the demo) But great sales none the less

Alan Wake is selling well? That game is getting price drops like crazy. It's already $30-$40. Thats why its getting price drops, because no one will buy it.It's probably worth noting from the article that the game has managed to sell this many copies while largely holding a full retail price.
For above, I'm unaware of this game ever being bundled.

It was #1 in the UK for a long time, also sold decent in USA and Canada to.
Not Halo numbers, but its selling pretty well for a niche game that is a brand new IP.
I think for Heavy Rain and Alan Wake both to sell over 1 million in there first year is/would be pretty impressive. They are not your normal type of games that sell extremely well or that are very popular in the main stream like COD or HALO. But for what types of games they are, im pretty glad they are selling what they have.
Lets not forget that Alan Wake was released the same day as Rockstars blockbuster RED DEAD REDEMPTION. For beign released on the same day as one of the years biggest and msot hyped games, its doign well imo when you take all that into consideration.
I didnt expect Alan Wake or Heavy Rain to sell as well as they have been. Maybe its just me, I donno.

Alan Wake is $30-$40 after 3 months that means it sales are fail so, it doesn't matter. Heavy Rain is still $60 and is maintaining good sales. Didn't you say to me yesterday that using the "but but wait longer" for Gran Turismo's 5 sales would bedamage control.

Because no games that sell well go on sale 4 months later right?....
Come on now.
heavy Rain also wasnt released on the same day as the years most hyped title, Red Dead Redemption.

It was only number #1 in the UK it's opening week as far as I'm aware.I don't really see why people refer to Alan Wake as "niche."

ya i think people are forgetting that selling a million copies of a video game is huge. Most games dont come close to a million, no matter how well call of duty or halo sell.[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]

Your wrong about it only being #1 in UK for opening week, it was there for atleast a month.
Heavy Rain and Alan Wake are Niche titles to me.
If you came to me with these games and asked if they would sell well or be mainstream hits I would say "NO". But they are what they are... games that are veyr unique and that are a niche and only for certain gamers.
Your not gonna get alot of hte COD or Halo crowed with these two games, its more select groups of people.

I just looked at the ChartTrack individual formats chart. So no, no it was not. That's Microsoft's fault. Alan Wake has more appeal then Heavy Rain in general being that it's gameplay mechanics while unique take have a somewhat standard feel (3rd Person Shooter). Most games that are $30 after a couple months generally are games that sell poorly unless there's a Black Friday or something. Alan Wake isn't just $30-$40 at Gamestop having a sale dude. Go check Amazon, Gamestop, Gameexpress etc... It's a price drop not a sale dude.[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]

646,299 worldwide sales is pretty impressive for a brand new IP that was released on the same day as Rockstars latest hit Red Dead Redemption.
For a Niche title that is also exclusive and a new IP, that is pretty impressive imo.
Bottomline is that for the types of games Heavy Rain and Alan Wake are, they have sold well imo.
good for them, I wonder how much of that is from bundles and the like.
Don't think they bundle Heavy Rain with anything, normally Sony use platinum releases for bundles. Correct. I never saw a Heavy Rain Bundle. Sony uses major titles for Bundles (GOW / LBP etc...) The next bundle will be Gran Turismo 5.[QUOTE="TerrorRizzing"]Don't think they bundle Heavy Rain with anything, normally Sony use platinum releases for bundles. well then well done. those kinda sales figures are hard to come by, most games come nowhere near that.good for them, I wonder how much of that is from bundles and the like.

VGChartz is not a source. NPD, Media Create, Famitsu, Dengeki, ELSPA and Gfk-ChartTrack are sources.http://www.vgchartz.com/game.php?id=13817

If Remedy releases numbers then that's a source.
Heavy Rain, as a niche title, that's a new IP and is exclusive has had impressive sales at full retail without bundling.
Alan Wake has had lacklustre sales, it's already had it's RRP slashed and is being made into ad hoc bundles in the UK. It's not a complete bomb like Blur was, but it's not particularly impressive. I actually don't know why it's being discussed in the first place though.
it's all good, alan wake will break a million sold within the next two months and that will then warrant a sequel which is a good thing. we need more games like heavy rain and alan wake.
congrats to david cage and quantic dream for their success.
it's hilarious that some of you are acting like you're happy that alan wake's sales have been lackluster because it's not on your console of choice. don't you want games like alan wake to succeed so we see more games like it in the future no matter what console you prefer?

No one was happy about it,they were just commenting about the sales.

Uh no. Alan Wake is my 3rd favorite game this year after ME2 and Heavy Rain. However, in my opinion it's sales are poor which is further proved by it's near bargin bin price a mere 3 months after release.
I think this just goes to show how there are tons of people out there who you know.. Want new experiences in games instead of the same thing over and over which seems to really be hurting this gen.
