Unfortunately it wasn't the case for Alan Wake...

Some movie it is huh? Animal-Mother
Some "interactive movie," indeed. Besides, I already answered all this in the IRC.

1 millionin sales... cows are happy about this :lol

Not to mention the fact that this game was released several months ago. 1 million in one week would have been acceptable, but these sales aren't imposing at all.

[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]

[QUOTE="FlamesOfGrey"] Alan Wake is selling well? That game is getting price drops like crazy. It's already $30-$40.TerrorRizzing

It was #1 in the UK for a long time, also sold decent in USA and Canada to.

Not Halo numbers, but its selling pretty well for a niche game that is a brand new IP.

I think for Heavy Rain and Alan Wake both to sell over 1 million in there first year is/would be pretty impressive. They are not your normal type of games that sell extremely well or that are very popular in the main stream like COD or HALO. But for what types of games they are, im pretty glad they are selling what they have.

ya i think people are forgetting that selling a million copies of a video game is huge. Most games dont come close to a million, no matter how well call of duty or halo sell.

Even alpha protocol has sold 700,000, iron man 2 sold 1.1 million, then again, they are multiplats

1. Its not a multiplat 2. Its a new IP 3. Games like Heavy Rain arent aimed at masses. And if Iron Man sold over 1 million... just wow. Only shows people are indeed sheep and buy anything with famous name on it even thought its a crappy game bad even for a movie rehash (this isnt directed to the person I quoted though)

Alan wake hasn't been out nearly as long as HR. Either way it was one of the worse games ive played (the demo) But great sales none the less

Alan Wake is $30-$40 after 3 months that means it sales are fail so, it doesn't matter. Heavy Rain is still $60 and is maintaining good sales. Didn't you say to me yesterday that using the "but but wait longer" for Gran Turismo's 5 sales would bedamage control.

All im saying is if were going to compare HR sales to alan wake than lets be fair about. What i meant yesterday about gt5 is that if were going to compare reachs sales to gt5 sales than we shouldn't have to wait multiple years to do so just for the sake of gt5. We should compare each games first 6 month or first year sales accordingly. And if anyone disagrees with that because gt5 needs more time than that would be damage controlling

its good, but just don't expect it to be some life altering experience. i know some would disagree with me, but its essentially an interactive movie with quick time events. that being said, i enjoyed it.

Yeah, but yesterday I wasn't comparing GT5 against Halo Reach. I said that GT5 wouldn't reach the 10 Million+ mark as fast as a game such as Halo: Reach is going to because the series has been a slow burner had legs and hit that mark over a long period of time. You came out of nowhere talking about damage control, cows and blah blah blah.

That's all i'm expecting. So long as the story's good, i'll have no problems. The demo got me interested, but it wasn't a "must buy" straight away, so i'm glad I waited.

Thanks for the info.

yea but it kinda puts some of that "ps3 dont sell games notion to rest"

That notion was laid to rest ever since Resistance: Fall of Man. Problem is that it didn't dawn on "some people".

For me, it was just completely different than anything Ive played this gen. And the story was interesting. Not only this but it released at the perfect time (end of feb) and where I live its utterly nasty, cold and just melancholy outside. Fit perfectly with the game. I think that alot of these subconscious things affect the opinions we have about the games we play. At least for me they do.

The damage control for Alan Wake's lousy sales number has begun  Serves Remedy right for backstabbing the PC userbase in the back.

I was one of the people that thought heavy rain was going to be a huge flop in the sales. Next thing i know reports come back that the game had a successful launch and sold very well.

so i guess i just assumed it had already passed 1 million units when developers of the game had interviews on G4 talking about the game's huge success.

Gran Turismo 5 will never manage to reach 10 million units in sales. That's simply not possible for a game that is exclusive to the PlayStation 3.

Almost everyone expected it to be a sales flop, or at least to not do particularly well. Instead it has sold 1.5 million copies in six months and is an unmitigated commercial success. So no, it did not underperform.

They stopped working on DLC because of Move implementation. And since they have another project planned, I highly doubt any dlc will come. Shame. I really enjoyed the first Chronicle.
