2 Million is enough especially for an Adventure game, let alone a Interactive movie (a sub genre thought to be dead)

It's pretty funny that before it was released a lot of critics were expecting it to be an underappreciated masterpiece that sells less than 300k, and then it turns out to be an interactive B-movie selling 2 million.

2 million x $20 per copy that the developers get? That's what 40 million to the developer? How does it work? I heard that the publisher and retailer get biggest chunks and devs get the "left over" percentage. Is that really enough? Did that even cover the development cost?

I get what you're saying, but to expect 3 million sold in generation of gaming? (where standards are pretty low IMHO).

You mean where gamer's standards are high? Sorry, I might have read that wrong. But yeah, 2 million is really good considering all the circumstances. My Dead Space 2 hasn't even reached 1 million yet since launch. Can you believe it? /sigh I don't know man, haha.

I meant low as in most gamers go for the most generic titles to come out. As for DS2 really now? I was expecting to hit at least a million since launch.

I agree. The state of gaming has changed quite drastically. Yup, DS2 hasn't reached 1 million yet... as far as I know. I really hope I'm wrong. Across 3 platforms and everything.. haha :P Last time I checked a couple of weeks ago, it was at 450k (360, PS3, PC).

[QUOTE="Rockman999"]

Just out of curiosity, how much did Alan Wake sell less in comparison? You know, the poor man's, Luigi's Mansion.

FIipMode

It's OFFICIAL Alan Wake will >>> Heavy Rain Sales.

Had to do it.

I still can't believe how overhyped that game was. Even before it came out, I was like "what do people see in this game? They barely know anything about it, and they're acting like it's the second coming of Halo!"

At least Alan Wake was still an OK game though-- even if it was not even close to the masterpiece the fanboys hyped it as. Look at Too Human-- people were saying it would re-invent the action RPG, and yet the game ended up being a piece of crap that got panned by the critics. And then, Silicon Knights had the nerve to blame it all on the Unreal Engine to the point that they tried to SUE EPIC GAMES over it, and even their lawsuit flopped!

Well deserved, I want more games like this. One of those rare games that kept my interest for the whole playthrough. Twice.

The only reason I wanted to get the game is to play as Madison naked and exploit the nude glitch. But then I realised that its a very perverted decision to purchase a game so backed out.

Is Quantic Dream making another game yet? I wasn't that fond of Heavy Rain(Some of the plot holes just was too much lol), but I liked Indigo Prophecy, because it was just so ridiculous and funny.

If they make a new game similar to those, I think they should have 1 character. I think they'd do much better like that.

Luxen90

Yep their making a new game, last time i read about the project their working on is it might be war related

a great game.

now lower the dam price so more people will play it :P

seriously, I was shocked that the game was still $60 a whole year after release when I went to buy it.

theuncharted34
That's what chaps my arse about Nintendo games. Want to buy a Nintendo licensed game? You WILL be paying $50 dollars. At launch or 3 years down the road.

I can see that... the game did have an "eerie" feeling to it. The depressing mood and the premise of the story... a serial killer on the lose.

Whichi s a damn shame because it's a good game. It's kind of MS fault in a way. Remedy's largest fanbase are PC gamers canceling the PC version was a dumb move.
