Yep, this game is awful...IGN only is confirming it. Anyone who played the demo pretty much knew this.

how about me, having played the final game confirm that it is a good RPG with some issues due to a poor release.... It's got bugs, and its got some mechanics that seem dated but it is a great game... AA for me.

I'd have to say they overrated it, but that's just me. Seems like it's gonna be averaging around 70 at Metacritic.

Oh and I advice everyone to get The Witcher instead. Running through randomly generated, bland, repetitive levels while whacking braindead enemies over the head over and over again so I can upgrade my skills and get better weapons which to whack more braindead enemies in bland levels over the head with just doesn't seem all that fun to me. I'm weird like that.

i do agree the Witcher is better. But then again the Witcher should end up a AAA game(hopefully).... Hellgate is a AA game IMO.

Here are the huge issues that have to be fixed within a month or it will lose people. Before I list these off, the developers have been patching extremely, extremely fast though:

-Fix nightmare mode (unrealistically playable to impossibility depending on class)

-Fix multiplayer (grouping actually penalizes you heavily in a max group because mob DPS goes through the roof, easier to solo).

-Fix memory leak (unplayable game almost, came out with a fix today though but haven't tested this yet)

-Fix skill tress (have no true identity, some classes can play without spending a single point)

-Fix level randomization (may take more then a month but it is way to repetitive)

-Make all content repeatable (a la Diablo 2 farming). End boss is farmable though.

-Fix the POS chat system!!!!!

If they fix all the above, you are in AA range and a good diablo style game with continuing content. This game has at least a year from even approaching a AAA game user opinion wise though.

***Semi-spoiler*** I will say after seeing some of the ACT 5 content, they definetly added the idea of doing some serious, serious pvp content in this game that might actually be a lot of fun...in several months.

Yeah. I think EA forced them to rush the game out honestly... They aren't as big a developer as say Crytek is and EA can bully them because they are signing the paycheck. Again, if you can ignore the bugs, this is a solid AA game and the bugs really aren't all that bad... The levels are repetative though and PC gamer even mentioned that.

I think horrowhip, you must understand that these reviews aren't catering towards any one audience.

By the looks of things, the way you're talking about Hellgate already makes me believe a 6.8 is just what it should've got. It's going to appeal to the Diablo fans, and pretty much Diablo fans only.

Like Jeff G was saying, a 7.5 R&C score could be AAA in a R&C fans eyes. Same thing here.

true i guess.... Thing is people who would really enjoy the game are going to avoid it like the plague because of a bad review... And that is really sad....

What is really bizzare is Mythos, their (Flagship) test game for the HGL engine, is a lot more polished then HGL is. True it has another team working it, but w..t...f...? A quickly made BETA to test out some game mechanics is better then the flagship title (no pun intendned).

EA obviously had a hand in that and I say give it about 2 months and the game will be where it should have been for release.... Anyone who liked Diablo should pick the game up though.

Those developers spent so long making a nothing special game. Well that must mean they arent that talented or the review on ign was wrong. I wonder which?
