Help me out - PS3 or X360?

Hi everyone!

I guess the best place to post a toppic like this is System Wars (sorry if I'm wrong)... The thing is I've allways tought that Nintendo and its products (I have Wii and 3DS (also GBA and DS Lite) and loved Nintendo since I can remember) will satisfy my gaming needs, but now it turns out I'm mistaken.

I'm getting to old for pink balls, fat illegal immigrants with mustache (never liked them anyway) and other candy characters. The only Nintendo character I ever liked were Link and Samus. However, they also lose their former glory, and their adventures each time duplicate the old common schemes.

After picking up Pandora's Tower, Xenoblade and Last Story I tought: I want more games like that... So I guess its time to buy a console for more mature gamers that will provide me with more mature games. But I have no idea on which consoleto decide - PS3 or X360?

PS3 and X360 have advantages and disadvantages and the games I'm interested in appear on both (eg Bayonetta, El Shaddai, Deus Ex, Final Fantasy).I want a honest opinions from persons who have both systems.

PS3 definitely. Far more advantages and far less disadvantages

The PS3 keeps a constant flow of exclusives and has free online, plus less expensive accessories. The 360 has pretty much renounced exclusive games in favor of Kinect and that's the antithesis of mature gaming.kuraimen

PS3 if you want epic games, the best console hardware and free online.

360 if you like having no games, like having terrible hardware and enjoy getting ripped off.

I heard lots of bad opinions on X360 failure rate, but it's unverified if those who complain are gamers or thieves who modify the console in order to play pirated games. Also X360 has Kinect and its said that controller is much more ergonomical, compaired to PS3.

On the other hand PS3 has Bluray and its casing does not creaks when touched (X360 does - today I touched both systems in a shop and I must admit that PS3 is made of better materials)

You'll find people's opinion usually goes with the console they purchased most recently.

I have both (since launch), and find overall the X360 is better than PS3. Better controller, online, OS, & games (multi & exclusives).

360's failure rate has gone down alot. The one I used to have is still going strong to the friend I sold it to. I bought it in 2008, it's the old model. I find that those that broke are from gamers who were glued to it for 8+ hours. The controller for 360 is much better than DS3, but that's opinion.

About the casing, that's irrelevant.

At this point I'd get a PS3. If you want to get away from the "baby games" and casualisation, you may regret getting an Xbox. The brand has clearly devolved from what it once was with Kinect, massive advertising and "media hub" functionality seemingly being the pushed in your face all the time, instead of being a "core" games console. The only reason to want one now would be for Halo, imo. And a lot of people would tell you buying a system for one game or one franchise isn't worth it. If you've only had Nintendo systems before then you probably don't care for it anyway. Remember, you also get a slew of great exclusives, free online service, a Blu Ray player and much superior build quality.(With my experience of 5 Xbox failures this gen, I wouldn't touch one again).

If you like games where you do nothing and watch cut scenes, PS3 is the obvious choice, all its games are like that

If you want actual gameplay than cut scenes in your games, 360 is the only way and the only system to have a huge number of gameplay filled titles

PS3 is dead last, all its games are linear, casual, boring, repeatitve, shallow and short beyond imagination (besides one)

Indeed, PS3 has abandoned core gamers with all the terrible, shallow, short games like Uncharted, GOW, MGS4 etc

For some reason you forgot Gears 3, Forza, Halo CE, Witcher 2, Skyrim Expansions, Alan Wake, Mass Effect 3 KINECT etc etc

If aren't looking to have blu-ray I suggest Xbox 360, although I love my PS3s exclusives, everything else I buy on Xbox 360. Xbox LIVE is just better, built better from the ground up, from the get go every game supported live and achivements. Sony has done a fine job with their online, but are still playing catch-up and because of this I have zero care for my gamer score on my PS3.

I love the Xbox dashboard, connecting to services such as HBO-GO and many other currently not available on my PS3. The only thing the PS3 has over my Xbox in these types of services is Amazon Video, but I figure it's only a matter of time.

Aside from games like God of War and Uncharted, my PS3 mainly sits there only to be used for movie night and thats only IF I bought a blu-ray movie. The majority of my movies are streamed via Zune on Xbox.

I guess it would be different though if most of my friends had a PS3, so bottom line is go where most of your friends/family are.

Depends on what you expect from it. PS3 has more variety and originality in AAA exclusives, 360 has the best shooters and the best splitscreen coop games. Bad news is that you have to pay monthly fees to play online on 360, while PS3 has free online.

buddy i advise u to wait for next gen and buy a wiiu. the 360 and ps3 are old. only a couple of months left for the release of wiiu. also the 3ds has so much games coming out so u will be busy with it. also if u cant wait and want to buy a console get a psvita even tho it has no games but at least it next gen and u know that the system will have at least 6 more years of in its cycle

PS3 is a really good system and has made great strides over the past few years, but 360 is more versatile as a media server and gaming system combined.

I don't buy a lot of blu-rays now that I have netflix, and netflix runs better on the 360. Also the app channels and interface work more pleasantly on the 360.

I would say get both, they are great systems, but if both of mine broke I would replace the 360 first.

Um.... what is the sense in buying a console which has no games? I've done that kind of stupidness when buying 3DS... I bought it with hope in mind: "hey, its Nintendo, right? Any moment lots of NEW games will pop up" - yeah, right... My 3DS games can be count on one hand's fingers - Zelda, DOA, Tales of the Abyss, RE: R, Kid Icarus... all of them (except RE) are remakes - nothing new.

Wii U may be cool, but I'm affraid Nintendo will screw me the way they screwed me with 3DS (yes, 40% price drop still hurts). And I wonder how long will the wireless screen controller last on single charge? Hopefully longer than 3DS.

Besides - what Nintendo has to offer? Candy Kirby or Mario (who acts like a pedophile)?Nintendo should go after brains allready and make a true next gen console with 3rd party support. Now they are allways one step behind others since N64.
