Unless you are completely lame you probably don't want your Mom or Dad to be into the same things that you're into. One of the biggest "draws" to the Wii is that is a console that not only you can enjoy, but your grandma might like it as well. Did I miss something? When the hell did it become cool in America to be a teen that is into the same things your Mom or Dad or Grandma or Grandpa is into?

When creating the Wii Nintendo never took into account the way that true American kids feel about their surroundings because they only know how Japanese kids are. American kids should, by nature, be WAY more cool than ANY damn Japanese kid could ever be. Normally American kids HATE IT when their fathers and/or mothers have even a remote clue concerning what they're into. This is the way it has always been, and this is the way it will always be.

If your mother loves the things you are into, you need to take a serious look at yourself and your hobbies.

Kids don't have money, the parents do.

As for being "cool" get your head checked. No one cares how "cool" you are after high school. Sorry, maybe one day kids will understand "maturity."

Frankly, I don't care what my parents are into. I learned to like some of the things they like, be it music, movies, art, books, etc. Nothing wrong with that.

QFT there my friend. Some people need to realize that one you get outta high school. Image is nothing. People respect you more for being who you really are and staying true to yourself, then being somethign you aren't.

i'm pretty sure this is all teens....but ok, i see your point.i personally dont think its that extreme...i would like it if my parents had a clue as to what the differences between a playstation xbox and wii are. If they started to play and like games i think it would be awesome because i actually like getting my parents excited about video games, i got my mom to play wheel of fortune once and my dad use to be an NES junkie, he bought a PS1 for us when i was really young and then i took it over and he lost all gaming skill pretty much. I thought it was more fun than playing alone or even with my friends because its funny to watch them play....probably because they are old and usually suck :D

Is it me or does it seem as though the majority of posters nowadays here at SW are immature children? Who the hell cares what someone else thinks is "cool"? Has this place always been the day care center for miscreants and anit-social haters? They need to grow up.

This is where I have to stop reading. If my mom was into the same things I was (with the exception of girls for my mom), that would kick ***. I'm sorry, but does anyone else think it is cool to see their mom pick up a controller and start kicking butt in a game but me? The only problem with this is if you are in Middle school or junior high and you might be scared of what people think. DON'T; I would bet the world that most kids think their parents should be playing games, just as long as they don't hog it from them ;) Get over yourself TC.

Racist, so un-multicultural, totally way off the mark. Terrible thoughts. Your a complete American fool, thinking your country is ruler of the world. Truely innacurate thoughts. In the end, it comes down to just beingpathetic.

LOL, I just had to post because I wonder who the heck all these people bashing you are. While I don't agree with everything you said, I think you have a very valid point.

In the 50's, people's parents hated Elvis (how dare he corrupt the youth with those swiviling hips?), in the 80's KISS, Ozzy etc were the "devil". Nowadays games have become as big as music and i would agree most kids are not thrilled about mom and dad playing Wii sports.

I think most of the people replying are my age (30), grew up on games yet seem to have forgotten what it means to be a teenager ;)

HEY! I just posted about how my mom got me into SRPGs, how come I don't get to be on your awesome list?

EDIT: I just turned 18 in May, btw. And the RPG that my mom used to turn me onto SRPGs was Vandal Hearts 2. SO I was MUCH younger that I am now. Don't make excuses for the TC.

Your looking at it from the wrong angle, maybe Nintendo as a Japenese company marketed as a family thing, but the Wii unlike most other gaming platforms is something thats also more likely to be played by girls, do you see where im going with this, and believe me, THAT makes it cool and socially more acceptable.

So forget about mom, dad, granny and gramps cos I wanna have fun with the girls.

And oh yeah! EVERYTHING doesn't revolve around America and the sales say that people are buying it and enjoying it.

.......What's that supposed to mean?

I'm cool, by however you want to measure it.

Friends: I got madd peoples.
Girls: I'm knee deep in vagina.
Money: I work, ya' digg?

Some people like communities and interaction, that's why they come to a gaming forum, not just because they're "geeky" or "nerdy".

LOL, I just looked at your level and number of posts and realized you might just be marveling and not actually poking fun. Whatevv, I'm clicking submit anyway.

Edit: Looks like I'm not the only one with Glitchspot troubles, eh DuMas?

Not true. Take harry potter for example. Adults love reading harry potter just as much as children. Just because adults read books that children read it doesnt make the book or in this case console "uncool".

Dude...Your post is so pathetic that I don't even know how to properly respond to it. I have read it about three times now and I am still stunned. It's that bad. I am glad everyone else owned you already, though. It saves me some work. Please, for your own sake, avoid ignorance at any cost and grow up because what you just wrote isn't cool in the slightest. I am still in shock...I feel like this is a new low for system wars. Honestly, I do.

Don't worry TC, when you grow up you'll understand how precious time with your parents actually is. Not to mention finding something you all enjoy. I love the fact that my mother likes to play video games and she even watched E3 this year. :D And racism = bad
