Meh, both look great.
More importantly, it's a great game on both systems.
Did you play it yet?
From what I can see, the difference isn't huge but shadow resolution and light shafts are noticeably better on PC, and the game plays a lot better with mouse.

You have to push past 1080p to get better IQ than the xbox version, I'm pretty sure 1080p on pc is reconstruction of 720p, 1440p reco of 1080p etc, even 1440p didnt look that great, DSR to 4k and it looked noticeably different

Basically this. I don't know this seems like a very quick port lol. Even some of the bad ground textures are also crappy on pc. Maybe in motion they will be a big difference for now its just the usual resolution.
Dull and blurry. Reminds me of The Blur: 1886, but not as bad.
Really makes you wish there was an option to turn of the film grain so you could really see how it looks
Things I noticed
Overall it seems they just took the Xbox One version and made it work on the PC and allowed it to run at 60fps at least. No extra object detail is present in the PC version and they didn't crank the rendering for the PC version, aside from the shadow resolution and god rays.
Game looks nice on the Xbox One.
Game looks like it uses some sort of a blur over the entire image. I think a SweetFX mod for the PC version would clean that up and produce some very nice visuals. 1440 and 4k resolution would be nice too given how detailed the environments are.
360 level light shafts on Xbone. Environment looks so blurry from far away, reminds me of 7th gen. The game doesn't even look impressive on PC, tho. Probably using crappy FXAA that destroys the imagine quality.
If PC allows you to get rid of the ghosting, turn off the AA that makes things blurrier,
And allow you to play with M/KB then it wins by default.
Xbone version looks great, PC just needs to get rid of its minor technical issues. If the port is any good, it will.
@Wasdie: It really does feel like it's straight from the Xbox version, esp with the reconstruction thing which imo has no place in pc games, optional at best

It's really easy and not costly to use SMAA with sharpening. It costs about as much as FXAA does. I think the dev actually likes the more blurry approach. It makes details in the environment blend in a bit better.
I personally don't like it, but a sharp image can expose visual flaws a lot quicker so I can see why a dev would prefer it.

It actually looks very very nice indoors, I like the effect there. Outdoor gfx are just so so and this doesn't help.

Yeah when playing yourself, I expect the image quality to look a lot better but other than that both versions are using same 1:1 assets (except shadow resolution and light shafts). May be they'll include extra PC specific features after some updates (like option to turn off blur, increase draw distance, new AO or lighting techniques etc) ??? Sounds possible.
PS: Remedy start working on Alan Wake 2 already.

I wouldn't expect these games to have any extra detail on the PC version. There isn't a big enough PC gaming market interested in these games to make it worth the developer's time or money to go out of their way for the PC version.
Best we can ask for is just a good port.

Ye I think time was pretty huge factor in this as from what I picked out of the livestream by Remedy they still changed a lot of things in the last 6 months and most likely had very little time for the PC version. One can always hope they can improve on it past launch but wouldn't count on it
Image quality is abysmal on PC. Wtf Remedy, why would you force temporal reconstruction on PC? At least, Rainbow Six Siege gave you the option to turn it off.
I have a 4k monitor, and playing this game at 4k looks like it is still 1080p. Which would be ok if it didn't run at 10fps. Playing this game at 1080p looks like complete shit on a 4k monitor.

I tried with AA on and off and it barely makes any difference, the ghosting is from the reconstruction and the faster the movement the worse it gets

You would think that they could patch in the ability to disable that. They probably didn't spend a lot of time on the port so they locked down the features to make the launch easier.
Better shadows on PC but other than that it's shit. Why does it look so blurry?
MS must be joking if they think this mediocre blurry game will make PC gamers jump to the shitty Windows Store.

The ghosting is from the engine ? :/
certainly isnt from AA, DF most likely breaks it down

It's from the temporal reconstruction.
Temporal = bad
I expected better from Remedy and it makes me question why the requirements are so high when there are only a few improvements over the Xbox version. It'll flop as well because it's not on GOG or Steam.
So what we have here is quite the conundrum.
Either:
1. A $250 console is just as good as a $1000 PC
2. QB looks drastically better on PC which makes X1 still shit
3. It's parity which the might Remedy were suppose to be absolved from
4. It's a bad port which once again shows not even Remedy or MS really worry about PC
So some group is not being truthful here.
@HalcyonScarlet: Yep. Played for a couple of hours yesterday... loving it so far.
Nice, what do you think of the reviews criticisms such as controls and the platform parts (what they put under 'The Bad')?
Yeah... I'll wait until its $30 or cheaper. Them using temporal reconstruction on PC pretty much rules out multiGPU AFR support.

The controls are fine... the aiming does feel a little off when you first start, but I got used to them pretty quick. As for the platforming sections, I've only done a couple so far, so can't really make a proper judgement on them yet. But so far they're OK.
My only complaint so far is I'm getting occasional screen tearing... but it's nothing major.
Am I correct in understanding the framerate issues people are having with the PC version is exclusive to those trying to play above 1080p?

I like how the only way you could have possibly come to that conclusion by the time you posted this is if you watched the video before the post was posted.
? First video is 4 minutes long. His post is 4 minutes after the OP. Seems plausible he watched at least that vid.
Now as for the differences, its stuff like this I am so glad I don't give two dumps about. No difference I saw is teh be all end all.
Just sharper, better resolution and lighting mediocrity in max settings lol. Still far from impressive or close to the beast that is Uncharted 4. Sorry kids, you lose again.
Just to point out that FPS isn't the same time as Frametime, that picture could be from solid 60fps but it stutters like hell because the frame times are all over the place.
