yeah the price is kinda high but i think it will still sell well. the max i will pay for a handheld is $250. anything over that and im waiting for a price drop.
[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]other handheld devices like the ipod touch, phones etc. Because those are the choices of serious gamers, of course. If Sony and Android do make a PSP Phone it might actually be the case. And Nvidia is pretty serious about the Tegra line considering the new LG, Motorola and HTC phones will use the Tegra 2,even ASUS wants it for their portable devices. Also Nvidia announced the Tegra 3 is almost done, and the Tegra 4 is coming soon. As well as having the Tegra 2 dev kit out since the start of this year, they're also starting to talk and make deals with devs.[QUOTE="Willy105"] Outdated in what way? Consoles? Nowhere am I saying that the ipod/ipad is a better experience when it comes to gaming... because honestly it doesn't come close. What an assinine comment to make. For one it's not gonna cost that much in North America. Nintendo tends to keep the numbers the same (i.e. 25K Yen=$250=250BP etc). And the specs haven't even been released officially, so let's wait and see on that. I would say you're the fandboy for not buying it given all the great games that are in development; have you seen the press release software montage? I'm gonna buy it for the GAMES not the specs. I can't play specs. Oh and the 3D sceen is brand new technology=not outdated.Only a fanboy would buy this outdated tech for $300. So i expect nintendo to sell boatloads to their loyal manchildren.;)

Distilled into pure awesomeness maybe. The original was a brick with a poor backlight.

I can pick up an Ipod Touch for less than $250 so I would never buy a 3DS for that price. It needs to be $199 or sales will be PSP like. Although I got rid of both my DS and PSP for a Touch so I might be the wrong guy to ask.
kuu2
How can you compare an MP3 player to a 3d gaming handheld?
Yea, go buy an Ipod touch and enjoy the boring and bland games with bad controls. Have fun with that.
And I OWN an Ipod touch.
You really think parents AREN'T going to spend whatever it takes to make their kids COOL in SCHOOL!?
I expect it to be $279.99 in the US and probably $299.99 in Canada. Its not going to be cheap, and Nintendo knows, whatever they price it at, it will sell. It is a "DS."
If it ships out at $300 it is doomed to fail.shakmaster13
The same was said for pretty much every console and handheld ever made. :P
[QUOTE="XboximusPrime"][QUOTE="nintendo-4life"] It's paying off. Sony is head to head with Nintendo in japan, they're starting to dominate there. PS3 sales have also been on the rise. If they continue this trend through next gen they could be on top again.nintendo-4life
Im mainly using the PS3 for Exclsuvies because I game multiplatform usualy on 360 because, quite hoenstly, most of the time they end up better their. So maybe I would have liked it if they fixed that part. But maybe next gen.
They can fix it if they increase sales. That way they would also gain more exclusives. The future is looking bright for Sony, lets pray they handle it correctly.I dont think theyll garner enough sales this gen to change that though. Until they do, ill get them on my 360 unless told otherwise.
Though other new devices, such as phones will also have things like 3D touchscreens and 3D cameras. Even Samsung has has a phone with 3D AMOLED in Korea. It has a 3D camera system and can play 3D movies. Gonna sell very well.

It depends on the coversion rate. Because the DSlite launched in Japan at an equivalent of $200 but in the US it launched at $129. So if it is similar the 3DS could cost $230 at launch in the US and $240 in Canada. You really think parents AREN'T going to spend whatever it takes to make their kids COOL in SCHOOL!?

A 3D camera and 3D movies 'could' be a major feature, but the 3DS's 0.3 megapixel camera and lack of LED flash will probably keep it mostly in the realm of just being a toy to play around with (like the DSi one).In the case of 3D movies, I think it'll be difficult to convince people to buy a movie for their 3.5" handheld that can never be played on the big screen. Normally digital copies (for iTouches) are easy to move around from PC to smartphone, and they usually even come free after buying a movie on Blu-ray. I'm not sure if Nintendo really knows how they're going to work that one out.

Well most new phones like the Droid X have HDMI out so you can plug right into a TV. and newer hardware will display movies form a phone in 1080p. Though the end of this year and early next year the new LG, Motorola and HTC phones will have a lot of that new hardware backing them so that's something you will see very soon.It depends on the coversion rate. That's not $20 more for me it is only $10 more. Foxhound_fox has Canada's price at $20 more then the US price. What was that Stevo? Oh, I'm sorry I was too busy uploading this picture: On a more serious note, while this wasn't much of a shocker (to me at least) I think the mass market will take a little while to get used to this price point, but I'm sure once word spreads and the marketing kicks in this thing will really sell.lol. Oh man, that's cold. So cold. :PNVIDIATI
It'll be between $200-250 and I can live with that. I'm just wondering if I should wait for a revision of it a few months down the line.
The whole reason the PSP GO flop was be cuz no one wanted to pay $250 for it. IDK if the 3DS will flop in sales, but its going to have a rough start. Also how much are they games going to be?J-WOWThe PSP GO had more problems than just the price though. Advertising was crap, all DD, and the PSP isn't exactly a hot seller like the DS is.

It will be interesting to see if the price is to high for the consumer. Nintendo has been doing quite well lately so I believe in their descion.
