Well I want to see how the cross platform stuff works. That and matchmaking sounds good. I don't want to be playing against beginners because in the end they don't enjoy it and I don't enjoy it. DOW 2 high level matches excite me already. This is how Battlenet is, infact live reminds me alot of Bnet but for one game of course.

L4D was said to be coming for the PS3 by an official PS3 mag and the N4G just quoted that mag, I don't think it's happening tbh.

The only reason why I'll be using GFW Live is for Dawn of War 2 when it comes.

it works very well for what it is. everything from steam, though (as you said, matchmaking aside), and i'm definitely not an expert with it, seems to function better.

GFWL is a broken POS service that does nothing new or innovate on nothing that MS is not willing to fix because its so unsupported by gamers that even when its free PC gamers STILL dont give a ****.

Steam is what PC gamers need, not some port from a console user interface. GFWL wishes it could have Steams 15 mil userbase.

First off it GFWL (games for windows live), secondly its not the "Next step" in PC gaming, its really a step behind considering Steam does all of this and better by allowing to track hours of games played.

your whole "hate MS but support it" arguement is stupid, Windows is the ONLY reliable gameing platform around, and maybe if you played PC games (Doubt it considering "Cliffy" avatar) then you would know windows is the only way to play games.

Do i want windows to keep up game support?, hell yes.

Do i want some broken, buggy and boring POS that will handle my games, and comes straight from the console realm?, Hell no.

Live needs a standalone client. I dont want to launch a game just to view my friends list. lol.

its free beacause no PC gamer would waste their money paying for it (wich was their first attempt) we also get the extra content and download content for free, windows live is garbage TBH its just a window that opens on your game showing the EXACT XBL user interface, it eve has the a/b/x buttons on the buttom to tell you the actions

we already have things far better than xbox live so you can keep it.

yuck live on pc is HORRIBLE! there are much much better services on the pc already. being forced to use live on pc would put me off playing on the pc more than anything.

If you buy Fallout 3 and GTA4 for PC, your forced into trying it out....and you will love it.

err, I downloaded Fallout 3 and I havent been forced to try out anything. The Live tab is on the menu but I havent touched it.

We have better services than Live, therefore it doesn't make sense for us to accept it and we don't. Live PC proved to be a huge failure and it doesn't look like it will change in the future. MS realized that PCgamers won't be satified with what they are giving to lemmings, PCgamers need something different. Removing the fees is the first step of MS realizing that and trying to adapt it to be more like PCgaming service and less like Xbox one

Yeah like Neverwinter Nights 2 , that game is going on its 3rd expansion and a big community of modders and builders... and no games for windows logo. Why? Obisidian (aka.. Ex Black Isle Studios' the makers of fallout 1, 2 and Planescape torment) don't need a stupid seal. The game stands on its own.

Us pc gamers were sour over live and M$ with the whole Vista only halo2 thing (and the game sucked) the whole gears of war port (the game sucked, don't know why you lems like it so much?) and the whole Shadowrun fiasco! Which is the worst thing ever, M$ took a good roleplaying game and company and instead made them make the shortest, stupidst fps only game with only 4 maps... for full price. Their selling point? Cross platform play...look how that turned out. Not only would we of got a crappy game, but we would have to use live and pay $50 a year just for voice chat and to play online, for 1 game that sucked. This was M$ trying to get us pc gamers to by into live. WE KNOW BETTER. WE are bitter over them abandoning the pc platform for consoles while taking our studios (Ensemble) and making them make shallow halo ports instead of AGe of empires 4, then they close them down before the game is even out.....ARrrgh.... do I need to mention more? We don't need live, MS just wants to try and take back what they could of had right in the first place if they offered it for free, but its too late for that. STeam and impulse is all that is needed on pc.

Games for Windows Live is like a poor mans steam. There is no instant text chatting, mics are hard to set up on it. You have to use the slow cumbersome obviously made for consoles layout. I bought Fallout 3 through Steam and I always add Games for Windows Live games to steam so I can use my steam tab to check friends and chat with steam friends. Though I might add one good thing about Games for Windows is if you have an gold XBL account already like I do for my 360 it is nice to be able to message friends on consoles with a keyboard.

I still consider games using GFWL a negative point despite it being free now. Live's advantage on 360 is based solely on the fact that every game and every player uses it, that's not gonna happen on PC.

I already have Steam and Xfire, both are light and play well together, Impulse I use every now and then. I don't see what Live will add to them other than milkage in the form of DLC.

I'm not sure at what stage it's now, but to be of any interest it definately needs to be a separate program like Xfire and not only an in-game feature. It needs to have store with FREE downloads to get people interested and into using it. It needs to be light and compatible with all the other apps PC gamers might use. It needs to gain a lot more support from devs and publishers, as of now their game list is pathetic.

It works on Consoles, but it's laughable when compared to Steam. I was disappointed when they announced GTA4 will be exclusive to GfWL, because now I won't buy it.

Live for FO3 is useless, and all it does is intefere with my other messenger account, and I hate it in Flat Out Ultimate Carnage.
