Hermits act like PC dominates in all genre's but that is just false. Sports, Fighting games & Racing games are all better on consoles. SpideR_CentSnot always. gold used to be better on PC, and hockey used to be better too. quite a while ago though ;). but yeah, the TC is off anyways because NHL hasn't been better on PC for years and years now. nothing new. and i know PLENTY of people that would argue the racing one ;) for good reason. PC has some excellent racers that consoles never get.
Hermits act like PC dominates in all genre's but that is just false. Sports, Fighting games & Racing games are all better on consoles. SpideR_CentSpc gaming does dominate all genres our fighting games are way more adavced than your fighting games. Those games would be all better on the pc too as well. You console players need rea game devs.
Hermits act like PC dominates in all genre's but that is just false. Sports, Fighting games & Racing games are all better on consoles. SpideR_CentSI disagree about racing and sport games :) Depends on what kind of games you like. PC completely dominates racing simulators, while consoles dominate arcade racers, consoles do better in popular sports, but all niche sports and sport managers belong to PC.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]PC gamers like football....the good kind...you know the one you play with your feet. VIVA FIFA!clone01what's wrong with American football? its a good sport, too. Whenever I log onto xfire or steam I always see a bunch of people playing any number of sports games. The vast majority of these games are soccer games. Rarely do I see PC gamers care about or play football games. We like sports games, we just like *different* sports games.

[QUOTE="clone01"] definitely Fifa. i've never heard of Mugen. what's it like?VandalvideoMugen, or M.U.G.E.N, is a freeware fighting game where you can create your own characters to fight. It has a huge community since it is so open. It isn't rare to have Ronald McDonald fighting Peter from Family guy. The sheer creativity of the engine and people itself are what drives the game. It is huge on the PC. just did some googling. that is pretty cool.
[QUOTE="clone01"] what sports and fighting games dominate on PC? VandalvideoFifa and MUGEN are pretty big.
Fifa are you kidding? The game is garbage on pc. It feels really inferior to the console version. Mugen, frankly there is even mugen on the first xbox, pc has just no fighters to talk about. Racing depends if you want a real sim or just something like forza, playing a real sim involve having a wheel and the kind of setup your wife will never allow. This gen the only game that I bought on pc are the witcher, stalker, crysis, medieval total war, orange box and world in conflict. If it weren't for those game I think an xbox 360 would be enough.
sports and hardcore gaming do not belong in the same sentence
support a real franchise, support a real game.. people work hard coming up with original ideas and any **** can come around buy a licensed ip and rake in its profits for very little effort.. sounds like casual gaming to me
[QUOTE="imprezawrx500"]piff sports games they are a waste of time might as well go and play it for real and for much cheaperSalt_The_FriesBut teh injuriezzzzzzzz
 Good one Salt The Fries.
Seriously sports game are great here where I live because you can't play much sports outside like 7 months out of 12. And I'm a horrible hockey player. That makes for good to great basket ball skills. Which is weird considering I live in Canada.
But in summers I'll take a real basket ball game without thinking over a game of NBA something.

Ouch, not even close to the console score.
It seems to me that PC gaming is garbage for the entire sports genre. Which is a huge genre for both casuals and hardcores.
I wonder how EA butchered this port so much? The game was bound to be inferior anyways though, the skill stick is so essential to modern sports games that the keyboard and mouse simply cannot compete.
You do know on this invention called the computer, they have another invention called usb ports.. And with that invention they are able to plug in another invention called gamepads or any game perphial.. If anything the Pc has more controls then all the consoles combined.. Fail.Hermits act like PC dominates in all genre's but that is just false. Sports, Fighting games & Racing games are all better on consoles. SpideR_CentSSports and fighting games - i will agree. Sports games like this nhl game are little more than simplified speedy twitch RTSes. Fighting games are just sh*t - wont even try explaining why. Racing games? Oh dear. http://forum.racesimcentral.com/
Too bad you can't play decent sports games on your PC. I find it hilarious how this doesn't matter (a AAA game being ported and reviewed as 5.5/10), yet other genres matter (like RTS's and RPG's, which the mainstream audience doesn't care for as much. Mainstream audience makes up the market, so without these casuals the video game market would collapse). So these sports games do matter. They are a HUGE part of the market and even games like NHL 09 will outsell many beloved games that are always discussed in System Wars (such as Dead Space). Don't believe me? Hit up the NDP numbers for proof.Lame thread.
PC gamers don't care about a shotty NHL port,..seems only the author of this bunk thread does.
I can use a controller,or KB/M with my PC, so it's pretty much a console killer!
Thx anyway for the "breaking news".

Its sad to hear comments like "no one cares" because when we look at sales, many many people do care. Its just the ignorant people here who don't care simply because they don't understand. I understand that sports games aren't fun unless you know the rules or play the sports to fully understand them, and I guess many users on a video game forum wouldn't because they aren't very active people, but I really do feel pitty for the people who don't get to experience this style of life. To conclude, for the people who say "no one cares about the NHL outside of North America". You could not make a more ignorant post. Many of the players in the NHL are from countries such as Russia, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Kazahkstan, France, etc. The league is even planning to expand into Europe in the distant future. Europeans do care about hockey, next time you make a post you should do your homework.
[QUOTE="svetzenlether"][QUOTE="Mehdi1984"]Not only is it a sports game... but NHL?? Come on. Trinexxx
What's wrong with NHL?
QFT. Sick sig btw. I'm a huge Canucks fan as well, how awesome was the game against the Panthers tonight?and how awesome was the Oilers ownage of the Canucks on Saturday :P
I totally agree tho on the points of this thread, its a big deal when a game gets ported with this kind of poor quality. Sports games are going to be more mainstream than the kind of games hotly debated here in SW. It gives a bad image to the PC and should not be dismissed so lightly. Also... how did this happen?! NHL09 rocked... shame to see it ruined like this for PC.

Most multiplats are far better on PC. You naming one that isn't doesn't mean anything.
The list of multiplats that are better on PC is far longer than the list of multiplats that are better on console.

Sports games are even more casual than the Wii mini-games. Of the 40 odd PC Gamers I work with, only ONE buys sports games. householdman
HELL NO.
I mean, if you're talking about the audience of gamers, yeah sports games tend to attract "casuals". But if you have seen some of the best gamers and the competition in sports games (such as Madden or NHL), its a pretty hardcore genre. The people who are really good at these games are hardcore gamers. And these games also require plenty of teamwork. NHL 09 allows for 6 vs 6 games, so you really need to have different strategies in mind and know how to play welll with other players.

Wow, I guess I shouldn't be surprised with the responses from this forum. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.TrinexxxIgnorance on your part as well. It's not garbage for the entire sports genre. The manager type games are very popular outside of the United States. It's just the more action-oriented sports games that don't do well.
