I still think Crysis 2 was good, but it was garbage.

[QUOTE="Zensword"]I dont know why anyone can prefer C2 to C1. I'm playing C1 on PS3 and I prefer it over C2 because of many reasons: 1. The AI. The Koreans are much more intelligent than the Americans of C2. I've never seen them getting stuck in objects or trying to walkthrough walls as the CELL :D 2. The environments of C1 is mouch more open and bigger. I actually got lost for about 1 hour in the river area in chapter 3 (Relic) :D 3. The suit is better. You can use speed as well as normal sprint. And you can move faster in armor mode. Fists are more satisfying than kick. 4. Lots of destruction.15strong
So the suit is the same as PC crysis?
There are some changes. - armor mode use energy - you cannot use speed to speed up reloading weapons - sprint only available after you use speed and the energy drains complately.[QUOTE="Zensword"]I dont know why anyone can prefer C2 to C1. I thought they nuked speed mode and the radial wheel in favour of the same control system in the second.First Crysis has best FPS SP campaign this gen.KHAndAnime
I disagree. Resistance 3 would be my pick followed by Crysis 2. Crysis 1 beats any CoD though, but that's not saying much
I picked it up... And thus far I'm not that impressed.. It has pretty good visuals but I've seen better on the 360 (namely the Gears series) and it's no where near a high end PC. But the game itself is pretty standard stuff.. There's not a lot of character interaction or better yet a story that actually makes you care about the characters. When characters "disappear" my first reaction was.. "who was that again... damit they all look a like.. ( :P ) Ah well.. what's the next mission." :P It's not as accurate as the PC version, obviously, but damn I swear I don't remember the enemies having superman capes.. :?

Hey, can you go shark hunting in the console versions?
OhSnapitz
I would also like to know this
Me three... I'll try it out and see if that grants you special power's or makes the game any more interesting. brb.. Someone said there's shark :)What I don't like - everything else. The "open world" environment (which it isn't even really open world, so nice exaggerating guys :x) is so dull, generic, and empty feeling compared to C2's fantastic vision of a destroyed New York. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, and this couldn't be more true when comparing the environments of these two games. C2 may have been smaller, but it was a hell of a lot more interesting. And how bout dem graphics? C2 is beautiful on consoles, albiet with a few minor technical hitches. C1 on the other hand is one fugly looking game with those same technical hitches multiplied by 100. This is the best Crytek could do on PS3? There are far better looking games that actually ARE open world, like RDR and InFamous 2. The biggest annoyance though is that C1 doesn't even feel like a game, but more like a tech demo. Where's the story, characters, pacing, epic set pieces, etc? C2 had an excellent campaign that moved at a nice pace with atmospheric environments. The gameplay felt smoother and more varied in C2 as well. Crysis - 7.5 Crysis 2- 9.5Master_ShakeXXX
It's not the original Crysis that was bs hype, it was Crysis 2. Yerli and team said how much better it was going to be than the original Crysis, and what did they make? Crysis: Modern Warfare.
While the direction of a destroyed New York is perhaps more fully realized, in the end, this is the same 'destroyed metropolis' we've seen in countless games, everything ranging from Spider-Man: Web of Shadows to I dunno.... New York is the most overused city in media. What made Crysis stand out if not for art direction, was its tropical island, and it was rendered beautifully with its cutting-edge graphics. When you think Halo, you think vibrant colour palette. When you think Killzone, it's muted darks with red highlights. When you think Gears, it's brown. Crysis had its lush tropical setting. Crysis 2 destroyed that identity.
If bigger doesn't necessarily mean better, and Crysis and Crysis 2 on consoles is smaller than Crysis PC, then maybe the exception is Crysis.
And for the record, Crysis 2 is essentially a corridor shooter. The term 'corridor' is a misnomer but it essentially means funnelling your experience through a tight, controlled design. Crysis 2 had the illusion of freedom, but it was preconceived choices around a small area which funnelled you down to the same outcome. Even Halo had more freedom in its corridor nature.

Nah Crysis 1 doesn't beat CoD 1 or CoD: Modern Warfare, despite being incredibly different.
Crysis 2 is much funner than the first one. Most people saying the opposite is because it "doesn't push the hardware."

It got GOTY here on GS over COD4I understand, and I'm sure CoD4 would have gotten FPSGOTY elsewhere too.
In retrospect, I think the tighter, if less ambitious design in CoD4 marks the game out slightly better than Crysis, which was incredibly ambitious, but almost to a fault where the designers didn't know how to capitalize on it.
Crysis does make CoD feel antiquated though.
Your problem is, you played the console version. theres a BIG diference in both versions gameplay wise. Crytek butchered the game for consoles, the new suit functionality for the console version just turns the game into another run and gun shooter.
And Crysis 2 sucks IMO.
Nah not really. You can withstand more bullets in armor and cloak longer in console Crysis, the only downsides are that the "melee" style of gameplay is gone, without speed and strength. Didn't Super Mario Galaxy win GOTY in 2007? Maybe he's thinking of shooter of the year.

Speed and strength are still in it. A lot of people keep making this claim and there are very little differences in the way it plays PC to consoles. The only difference now is that you don't have a standard sprint button and you can't turn on speed to quickly reload. Other than that, you actually get more options in the console versions. You can go into cloak and strength jump, for example. Or turn on armor and super punch someone.
Ascension is the only real thing missing, and to that I say good riddance. Level was over in a flash and it was boring imo, but whatever.
Anyway, I prefer the first Crysis for a few reasons. I like the forest environment more and I love the detail. I like the animals running around or finding a random ledge to climb and snipe from. The AI is much better in Crysis 1 and it translated well to consoles, unlike in C2 where the enemies couldn't throw grenades or tell the difference between a wall and somewhere they could actually walk.
I think my biggest issue though is that they dropped a lot in Crysis 2 for no reason. The end game in the first was awesome, the aliens were just great and why the abandoned them freezing the enviornment in the second was a disappointment. It would have been amazing to fight in a completely frozen New York but oh well right?
I loved Crysis 2 but it was a disappointment with what could have been. I'm still pissed the aliens changed so drastically. Oh, and why no Tac Cannon or Ceph gun in Crysis 2?
A large portion of Crysis (up until the alien spaceship) is one of the best FPS games this generation.
Crysis 2 is little more than a dumbed down corridor shooter that tried too hard to attract the CoD fanbase to a sci-fi shooter and as a result can't even hold a candle to its big brother.
Please play the PC version. The hermits, like me, that have talked about how good Crysis isplayed the PC version and not the console version. What??? Did you even read his original post. One of his things that he didn't like was that the game looked bad (or fugly as he put it).
Also, why would you not want your game to look better? If all things were equal (online, content, features, friends, controls, whatever) except for the graphics, resolution, and frame rate, why would you not pick the one that has the advantage in all those categories?
Also... again, why would you not want mods? They are free and improve what is there of the game (run smoother, look better, etc...) and/or add to what the game can be (more quests, more maps, more items, more characters, more story/plot, more features, ability to customise features to your liking like the UI, or even total conversion mods/entire new games), and again they are FREE.

Well aparantly this was an accusation made before the gaem camoe out. People jumping the gun to make the console version to look worse.
Thought I read the changes in a statement a while ago - which was linked to substantiate the claims. Can't be sure though.Ok, so I saw Crysis in the PSN store and was freaking out because C2 is one of my favorite FPS. All I ever hear on forums is "dude, C2 sucks compared to the original" or "C2 is consolized garbage." Naturally that got me curious and at $20, I couldn't refuse. Game is all bs hype. What I like - the strength and speed in this game are pretty awesome, and I can see why a lot of people were upset over their absence in C2. It's still fun to run around and take out enemies however you want. That's it. What I don't like - everything else. The "open world" environment (which it isn't even really open world, so nice exaggerating guys :x) is so dull, generic, and empty feeling compared to C2's fantastic vision of a destroyed New York. Crysis - 7.5 Crysis 2- 9.5Master_ShakeXXXYour entitled to your opinion - how RARE it is. Set pieces are for consoles who can't handle real time physics, graphics blow C2 out of the water - you must have a bad computer. It's C2 thats generic and its design was limited by consoles. Even with the new DX11 features, it pales especially in scope to the original Crysis
I disagree, but for several reasons.
-I think the pacing in C2 is alot better, but the level design is far worse, particularly in the later levels, ESPECIALLY the last one.
-Somehow the A.I is even worse than the original in C2, not sure how that happened, considering they have way less ground to cover.
-The new nanosuit is fine, no complaints, the old one was fine as well, don't really care too much about this.
-The world is way less interactive than Crysis 1.
-There were too many sequences where it became a typical corridor shooter.
-Your paths and general freedom are way more limited, I remember crytek saying something about you being able to use rooftops and go through buildings instead of the areas being really open. Well I didn't see any of that at all!
I will give it props for other things though
-Ran and looked better than it ever did in crysis on my 9800GT
-Better pacing
-Better story
-Great OST.
I had the very same impression , even thought about creating a thread like this but was too lazy for that lol.
Playing the first crysis made me wanna play crysis 2 , actually I went back to it yesterday and just beat it on supersoldier a few minutes ago , t'was definetly a better experience , new york looks gorgeus and everything is detailed.
So you hate the game in the crappiest ways it could play and look OP? Serves you just right! Now maybe you should get off that horrible Crysis and go back to your very precious beloved BLOPS and Crysis 2 or just get back to bussiness hyping MW3 on the forums if all the sudden you had ran out of BLOPS very fun replay value and Crysis 2 teh super high graphix! KTHXBAI!
