Kojima and miyamoto are the only japaneese developer who has been doing **** this whole generation. What is up with that? 2 gens ago, japan DOMINATED the gaming industry, and now most japaneese developers are completely irrelevant now. Where the hell has SCEJ been this whole generation? The team that made that Siren remake for PSN, what have they been doing? Its like they dont even care anymore. They need to start sharing some tools with Sony's big 3 western studios, and make a game NOW

Hell, I never played Siren: Blood curse but I always wanted to, and if they made a stand alone release, I would buy it. And I would most certainly buy any sequel they made. Ape Escape developers are also making 2 ape escape games (one will be the gimicky move game, and the other will be a regular dualshock based platformer). Japaneese devs need to start tapping into the western market more.

Isn't SCEJ making Last guardian/GT5? Also Capcom has been very impressive this gen, but I agree they have lost some momentum but mostly on consoles. Japanese devs are focusing on handhelds these days.

Well, imo, I like to think Capcom still matters as a whole. Looking at their wide range of game releases they try to make things for everyone, and it seems that if they know it won't make big bucks they'll still opt to put it on a handheld.

Sega is the same way, but Sega seems a bit more focused on the publishing side nowadays which is actually cool since they partner with some good western devs.

You'll find the obscure Japanese games on handhelds nowadays, so I suggest looking there if you're so interested.

Well, your first sentence of your first post did say that Kojima and Miyamoto are the only Japanese developers doing anything recently. You also said that Japanese developers are irrelevant nowadays. You can't say that and then focus in on SCEJ.

Capcom has only made ONE AAA title this whole generation. Everything else was meh (Resident Evil was garbage IMO, was a chore just to play, DMC4 was meh) and Sega has been absolute crap this entire gen, save for a few AA games (and by "a few" I mean ONE, aka. valkyria chronicles). Thats seriously bad that they have only made ONE game that was more than "A" quality this gen.

Square Enix has went to hell as well. Every game they made this gen was a flop, most of them only being "A" games, with the exception of FF13, and we know how that turned out.

Konami has been irrelevant this gen as well outside of Metal Gear. When are we gonna get back to the days when Japaneese devs are pushing out AAA after AAA, and not just hanging onto the ONE franchise they had for the last 20 years for dear life.

And, lol I feel stupid for leaving out Team Ico and Polyphony though. Other than those 2 and the ones I mentioned in the OP, I cant think of anyone else relevant this gen.

Have to disagree.. There's a lot of names posted here that are still doing all right. Also, Capcom is the only company with the balls to try something new and stick with it.

Get the **** out Hideki Kamiya's track record is still impressive(he just did Bayonetta if you want a what have you done for me lately) with Okami, RE 2, both Vietiful Joe Games, and the original Devil May Cry Shinji Mikami is a legend in his own right, and Vanquish looks great. From Software has been solid. Both Demon's Souls and 3-D Dot Game Heroes are awesome. Team Ico= speaks for themselves Itagaki is back, and Devil's Third should be an interesting game with a styIe most games aren't doing much this gen.

Kojima and Miyamoto are great but personally I've ALWAYS been a fan of Capcom titles since the NES days. Keiji Inafune has always been more relevant to me along with Hideki Kamiya and Shinji Mikami(I know there at Sega now but they have mostly been capcom).

Kojima has only released titles for Sony so far this gen and Miyamoto only Nintendo(of course) so they really haven't been a big influence this gen. Last gen all 3 consoles had an MGS title. I really wouldn't say anything of the sort. There is still plenty of greatness coming from Japan it's just there are more successful western developers now days.

not at all, coz some ppl say JPN dev. are as good as before, doesn't mean they are bad. JPN is still the main home for gaming.

This thread has already proven TC wrong. HOWEVER, I don't think many can deny Japan's influence on the gaming industry this generation has waned in comparison to previous ones. Nintendo and Capcom excluded IMO.
