Hideo Kojima Once Again Ponders Metal Gear Solid 5

Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more.

Today during a stage show, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima briefly mentioned MGS5. "Maybe, I'll do 5," said the game designer.

Kojima then joked that he had to quit working at Konami. Kojima was being glib, and this isn't officially confirmation of a new Metal Gear Solid (or that certainly not that he is leaving Konami) by any means. He was just being lighthearted.

This isn't the first we've heard of MGS5. Moreover, it has previously been revealed that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was intended to be MGS5. Also, this isn't the first time he's mentioned MGS5 — he wasthinking about it in May 2008.

Time after time it seems like Kojima has been vocal about moving on. While finishing up Metal Gear Solid 4, Kojima repeatedly said he was moving on from the series and hoped that younger members of his staff could take the reigns.

At last year's TGS, Kojima told Kotaku, "If you write that 'Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear any more' every day on Kotaku, and write to the CEO of Konami and tell him that, then it might be easier for me to make non-Metal Gear games."

We have been remiss. Apologies. Kojima-san doesn't have to make Metal Gear anymore. He can make Snatcher or Zone of the Enders or anything else.

As we previously pointed out, it's not like the Metal Gear games Kojima is making are bad or anything. On the contrary. However, surely, the man has other stories he'd like to tell, other worlds he'd like to explore.

tbh it woulde defeat the purpose of a lot of aspects of the game itself.

I think its time he remade MG1 and 2.

MGS 5 can wait.

lol it will happen, Kojima can't escape from the fact he's only really made a few note worthy games. Kojima is type cast in the end.

Don't bother, series went downhill. MGS4 was pretty aimless, reminds me of FFX-2 except with Snake. How many times can Kojima bring dead people back to life to extend this rather thing story?

I used to feel for the guy when he talked about not being able to do anything but Metal Gear... but now I'm just convinced he's obsessed with money and how much Metal Gear actually puts in his pocket. Wasn't MGS4 supposed to be the last installment? Wasn't that the end of "Solid" Snake's story? (no spoilers if you respond, for the love of God).

MGS 1 got a Gamecube remake and MGS2 doesn't need to be remade and is fine how it is IMO. I'd rather see MGS5.FlamesOfGrey

Great, solid snake trying to sneak around with a cane and a hearing aid that makes funny noises.....gonna be the hardest game in the series.

I played MG 1 through MGS 3: Subsistence and thought it was a pretty flawed game (Yes, it is old but even so the gameplay wasn't polished to say the least). Also, if I recall correctly Metal Gear itself wasn't even in the game. I can't speak on the 2nd one as I've never tried it. Kojima would most likely have to go back and completely flush out the games. I say leave those games in peace and work on new Metal Gear games.FlamesOfGrey

No, not Metal Gear Solid 3 the game itself. Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (the original not compilation pack) came with a bonus disc that included the originalMetal Gear 1 & 2. Metal Gear was not in Metal Gear one.

MGS has been no doubt one of the best series this past gens, however, it's over, the story it's over.

I would only like a MGS5 if a whole new cast of characters were made, let's say a new story 100 years after Guns of Patriots.

On the other hand, bring ZoE 3, this would be probably a day 1 for me.

Many havent played those, and since it tells the final tales of Big Boss, it would make a perfect finale to the series, (relating to the release of games in the series.)

Personally, MGS 4 is where it shoulda ended, but Rising and PW are released/going to be released.

It would be weird if Rising was the finale.

basically how I feel

No matter how much i love MGS and snake pleae ether just keep doing like spin offs like rising or just a different game completely. The core MGS story ala snake ended just fine.

I guess it's too much to ask for another Policenauts,Snatcher,or New IP in general huh Kojima?
