[QUOTE="BoloTheGreat"] Thankx :D, the un-informed hate here is laughable "Bu..Bu... where is teh monitor!!" :lol:PC360Wii
"Bu..Bu... where is teh monitor!!" is unfortunately somewhat valid.... Sure, console fanbois tend to exagerrate thr price of PCs but Hermits are almost equally as good at making it seem cheap.
I for one own a laptop atm so I'd have to buy everything, to "upgrade" my PC. Getting Vista 64 along with peripherals and an I7/GTX275/DDR3 rig will cost me 2 grand (which I'll be happy to pay mind you).
Ive seen you post that PC before and i think your just throwing money down the drain ... DDR3 ram? pointless overpriced and not worth it. Stick with DDR2. GTX275 ... again, whats the point? I7 fair enough, but again, due to current game standards whats the point for such a little increase? When the possibility of Intels GCards will change the way the graphics card industry works next year (possible) and theres no game beyond Crysis except Project offset that will require such tech. I'm using 8800 GTS 640 MB, 3GB 800 DDR2, Q6600 2.4 GHZ, I max every game with AA, except Crysis Warhead which has everything except shadow son enthusiast at 1650 x 1050. I use 2 20' 1050P monitors, aG5 mouse, an expensive headset, and a G15 Version 2 Keyboard, came to £1150 2 and a half years ago. My PC tower now? would be £450-550 tops, and only struggles on Crysis... 1 game, 1 NORMAL game. my 2 friends who have had builds this year with ATI 4870's come to £650 and outperform mine by miles. 20' monitors are around £120 now ect. Your wasting money mate, theres no way around it.Hmm, point taken.
Seems I can win nearly 400 bucks merely by shaving down (Actually, it's probably faster than an I7 920) to a 3.0 GHz Quad and a GTx260.. Damn...
I see it didn't take long for the consolites to start cramming console standards down PC users throats; then get upset/angry when they wouldn't accept them.
Unlike consoles we can improve our system without replacing the whole thing, yet whenever I see these threads you always get "where is the monitor, OS and mouse & keyboard?".
AnnoyedDragon
maybe if you could get over your whole superiority complex thing you might realise these kind of threads are pointless in SW. Its like saying "consoles are cheaper than you think if you only buy a bigger harddrive and wireless controller, because i already have the other parts".
Sometimes I wonder why your still here in SW, you seem so level headed when dealing with these fanboys and nerd rages. I would just up sticks and leave.I see it didn't take long for the consolites to start cramming console standards down PC users throats; then get upset/angry when they wouldn't accept them.

[QUOTE="sikanderahmed"][QUOTE="Pinkyimp"] Which hermits are those?, anybody who is not completely computer stupid knows you need more than just the CPU to run the latest games. But then again you wouldn't know that with your "Custom ATI Graphics Processor running at 3.2 GHZ each" Or your Hilariously low 512 MB of Ram... But anyways sounds like a great computer you got on your hands Bolo, GL on your build.PC360Wii
512MB is enough for console, more RAM is needed on pc coz of its OS, consoles dont need that.
....... My OS doesnt take up even 20% of my 3GB RAM, my oblivion modded takes nearly 1 GB of RAM. shame that thread got locked last night about mods, had a nice list to school you with, oh well, im not suprized your in this thread sprouting crap again.im only stating facts. 512MB is enough for console built in 2005, RAM on pc is not only for games, even games like crysis dont require 4GB RAMs, they only need 1 or 2gig so i dont see how 512MB is bad for consoles made specifially for gaming back in 2005
maybe if you could get over your whole superiority complex thing you might realise these kind of threads are pointless in SW. Its like saying "consoles are cheaper than you think if you only buy a bigger harddrive and wireless controller, because i already have the other parts".
marklarmer
Only PC is upgradable by design, why should we be expected to have to replace every component when we only need to replace a couple? People even argue we have to buy a new operating system; when any PC builder will already have a reusable copy on hand.
To me it is either people forcing console standards onto PC, such as the lack of being able to upgrade individual components, or just looking for excuses to drive up the price.
I've got to ask again, where is the motherboard? I didn't see it in the first post.
Ek-Andy
pfft you dont need that, the only thing you need to play crysis on max is a GPU, CPU, RAM and HDD :)

Extra controllers? I do need at least 1 keyboard and 1 mouse use the rig... and where I live, the OEM version of Vista Home Premium 64 is the equivalent of 190 USD.
In fact, I'm pretty sure TC's rig would be a 1 grand machine already.
Filthybastrd
You should stop repeating yourself when you're wrong. If a PC needs a screen, mouse, keyboard, OS then your console needs a 52' Pioneer Kudo screen, 4 controllers, every possible pheriphal and the highest possible HD, oh and atleast 5 years of XLive incase it's a X360.
You can actually get a better PC if you go the AMD/ATI way.
Case & Power - Antec Sonata III + EC EarthWatt 500 - 110EU
Mobo - MSI K9A2 CF-F - 70EU
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 940 - 170EU
GPU - Sapphire Radeon HD4890 1GB Vapor-X - 210EU
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB - 50EU
Corsair Dominator TWIN2X 4096-8500 4GB -70EU
CPU Cooler - OCZ Vendetta 2 - 30
This costs about 700EU, then again this thing is a beast and will run any game without any hassle.
No I need a reasonable hdtv and the controller that comes with my console.
If I don't already have a keyboard, mouse, screen and appropriate OS do I not need to purchase them?
There is a difference between a console and a PC. Everyone has a PC, everyone needs a PC. Why? Because it's what we need for our work, college, you name it. You don't need a console for that. So everyone has a keyboard, everyone has a mouse, everyone has an OS, everyone has a screen. If they don't and need to buy one it'll still be alot cheaper then a decent HDTV.
...why would you need a 64 bit OS?.... I'm still running the same XP Pro that I have been for years.... And just like a TV a monitor (and prepherials) can be re used......Where's the mouse, keyboard, screen and OS?
Even if you're using your old parts (not an option for some of us) you're going to need a 64 bit OS.
Filthybastrd
im sorry you put in all this effort into making this but all the pc gamers already know the console gamers pretty much generally know and dont care and the fanboys who claim its $2000+ are still going to be saying that crapSo i posted this is the HardWare discussion forum (thinking of buying) but i thought i might as well post it here to finally kill dead any misconception that high end PCs cost upwards of £2,000.

ReactOS (which is essentially an open source Windows distro) is also going to be coming out soon.

Why do you exxagerate like that?
When buying a new gaming rig you can NEVER expect people to actually have both monitor and mouse/keyboard.
How do you want to play games with not m/k? you can stretch it and hook up your computer to a tv (no monitor needed now) but still no m/k? A console comes with atleast 1 controller and a tv is something we all do own, if not then buy a cheap tv.
I'm not trying to tell you that the mouse and keyboard is going to ruin your economy but just that it is needed, heck buy something dirt cheap I dont care. Just dont come with that **** that we need a 508 or 5090 Pioneer tv and atleast 4 controllers to play with yourself, Oh and those tv's are the best you can get, why'd you choose those when you can get so much cheaper tv's?
So 64 bit Vista aint worth it at all? I was considering getting it since I expect games to be all about that 2 years from now. May as well get used to it I reckon...

Where's the mouse, keyboard, screen and OS?
Urg.... Do we factor in the cost of TV's to consoles? I already have a KB+M, it's not "cheating", it's a good build, i even factored in extra cooling fans so i wouldn't get picked at. As for the OS, like may I already own an OEM copy of vista.everyone who buys a console probably has a tv. if a bought a pc, i would get a monitor, KB/M and OS (and also ofcourse teh anti-virus as well) with it, add in those prices as well and you are looking at something well over £600
Everybody has a PC (or needs one), so they already have a monitor (or they need to get one anyway). To get the most out of a console, you need to spend two grand on a decent HD TV to replace the cheap one you already have. And if you stay away from spam e-mail, don't visit sites you shouldn't be visiting anyway, and don't download crap from file sharring, you can get away without having an anti-virus program. Still, you can have anti-virus protection for much less than the cost of Xbox Live.[QUOTE="imprezawrx500"][QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]

Only recently. Thy debuted with the introduction of the 4000 series cards.
Love hermits throwing in the price of a tv into the situation lol. You do know that people have tv's to watch tv right and are used on a daily basis in normal house holds. But a top end graphics card isn't needed or used everyday in normal house holds.
And with the prices of tv's today, most people are either already upgraded to a hd tv, or within 6months to a year the other majority will be making the switch. And believe it or not they buy them to replace old crt sets and to actually watch tv on them lol. They will just get the extra enjoyment of hooking up a ps3 to it to finalize their home theater setup after going hd.
And also love how hermits just have $200 OS's laying around and never include its price when making these rigs to gloat about how cheap it is to play pc games.
Pluse I just got a new rig about 2 months ago and the only game I've bought for my pc since that time has been Crysis and really nothing in the future of pc gaming makes me think my purchase was worth it lol. Minus HL3, and maybe Huxley. And not Doom 4 casue its to linear lol, thats my shot at all those people that love to use that word "linear" to make a game seem crappy lol.
Hermits do that as a counter to consolites throwing in stuff like monitors, mice, keyboards, operating systems, anti-virus software, anything to make PCs more expensive.Love hermits throwing in the price of a tv into the situation lol.

Did you use a TV to type this nonsense? I love how Cows and Lems think everybody already has or is planning to upgrade to a big screen HDTV.Please Log In to post.
