Holy crap! imagine the graphics of RDR3, HZD 2, Next gen GOW , next gen gears of war etc...

@pmanden: I agree. I think games from that era tend to age the best. Yoshi's Island is a perfect example of a game that is visually timeless. A lot of games these days are doomed to age poorly especially those that aim to look realistic as they will lose there graphical appeal as graphics continue to look more advanced and realistic, while a lot of SNES, Genesis, and even NES games will remain to look classy.

And yeah a lot of indie games try to imitate the oldschool look and feel exactly like that. Imitation instead of authentic and not to say they look bad but in a way awkward imo.

PS4 exclusives have extremely shitty lighting, and no baked techniques don't mean shit in technical terms. Also baking is art workflow not development. The most respected people in the industry agrees with my point of view hence whenever technical details come up or a new technique is implemented they goes back to the games I listed for comparison and the funny thing is no graphical techniques were pioneered by Sony, not even one.

Best looking is subjective, best technical graphics is not. Realtime >>> baking. 9 years and counting. For evidence: Exhibit A above. Feel free to replace UC4 with GoW/HZD/KZ:SF etc.

@emgesp: no opinion there. It is factually correct that those games look better than any PS exclusive. You realize I have both right? When you have a top tier PC and a Pro then you can make the argument.

@pc_rocks: Care to show us all these technically impressive PC games? Because the only technically impressive PC games I play are multiplats. Aside from Star Citizen, PC hasn't had a technically impressive game since Crysis.

Next gen VR headsets will be at the forefront of graphics anyway. As soon as eye-tracked foveated rendering is utilized fully by developers, VR games will always look graphically better than flatscreen games.

Well that is just straight up false. RDR2 plays much better than the original RDR.

RDR2 has classic terrible rockstar control, gameplay, and mission design. I fail to see what's improved. GTAV is a better comparison I think.

Again, we've seen plenty of PS4 exclusives get hailed for their graphical fidelity. You can prefer those older PC games, but again this is just your opinion. If PS4 games looked dated to much older PC games then you wouldn't have so many people talk about how amazing these PS4/Pro titles looked.

I don't even have to talk about exclusives as I think a game like RDR2 is far more impressive than majority of PC exclusives either recent or released years ago.

But again, you don’t have a high end PC to see the difference so your opinion is actually wrong because you have not viewed games on PC. Your opinion doesn’t matter when it is one sided because you have only experienced one side of it. Ask someone who has a high end PC and a Pro (such as myself) and it is night and day difference.

Who said I didn't have access to a high end PC? I didn't say that.

PC runs multiplats with better performance/resolution, but PC exclusives do not look night and day better than the top console exclusives. I honestly don't see any PC exclusives that impress me as much PS4 exclusives on a visual level. Squadron 42 isn't going to be released until 2020.

Metro Exodus on PS4 Pro or XB1X impresses me more than Metro 2033 running on a high end PC.

PS4 CPU doubles 64bit math capability over PS3 CELL.

Intel AVX technology enables 64bit FP pack math in SIMD processing.

There's a reason why game servers are dominated by Intel's Xeon (Core i series generation) CPUs and AMD's Zen CPU is a clone of it.

I still find this video impressive. It's a little over-the-top as far as the whole Shakespeare thing, but bonus points for Andy Serkis. The woman at the end looks especially impressive.

Also worth nothing this video has been around for some time, so I wager there have been improvements. You can obviously tell they are not real, but it's pretty damn close.

Actually its my Brothers setup but he literally lives 5 minutes away from me. He also has this rad Oculus setup. I think PC gaming is really cool, but I just can't justify the cost over a home console, plus none of the PC exclusives really interested me.

What are you talking about? XB1X plays lots of games in Native 4K. There are even some PS4 Pro titles in Native 4K as well, but much less than XB1X.

All i know is red dead redemption 3 on next gen consoles with the same amount of time of care that rdr2 got would look absolutely mind blowing and that's why I'm so excited lol

Could care less about the consloe vs PC talk you guys are talking about lol at some point in the next 20 years platforms won't matter because most games would look photorealistic regardless of platform lol

let the plebs fight it out amongst eachother with who's parents bought the right console for them and who's did not while the real gamers in here sit back and laugh knowing they'll have whatever tickles their fancy come next gen (and likely already have a good gaming PC).
