Bah, if you have learned anything, Famitsu overrates stuff to the max. They gave final fantasy 12 a 40/40 for goodness sakes. That game was nowhere near perfect. Launch ps2 games looked and played better than that. Lately, they've been giving dbz games pretty high scores too. Shows they're reliablility.

The sheep broke the system after TP, MP3, and SPM. Hyped Z&W A and SSBB AA. They went nuts with LoZ: PH and hyped it AAA but zelda games get AAA more often than not and it was a good bet. SMG was hyped AAA because there is no way that a 3D mario game wont get hyped AAA.

I don't know what other sheep, but I been hyping it AAA since the start.

I think it has more to do with how flops are considered, and less with the stickying of the thread itself.

Take a look at the Brawl hype thread. AAs are the overwhelming majority, but a pretty large number of them are qualified with something that is the equivalent of "GS will underrate this, so I'm hyping it AA." Which is crap.

These hype threads aren't really measures of hype at all. They're predictions of GS scores. Considering that flops are based on these predictions, and nobody wants a flop, it's not surprising that these threads have become so conservative. But if that's the case, then what's the point?

When people make predictions instead of posting their hype, they aren't really serving the purpose of the thread. If lemmings gave Halo 3 AA 'hype' in an official thread while continuing to champion it as the game that would put the 360 ahead, and it scored AA, I think people would still see it as a flop. So it's a shame when stuff like this happens.

I think a lot of it goes to the credibility GS has lost over the last year.

Sound about right. I personally will hype it what I think it should be, caring little what GS could do. AAA, thats my hype and I sticking to it, its crazy to think any less. You got installments that seem to most likely increase each time, the last one was close to being in the 9s (AAA). It has a great deal of content in it, lot of work involves, new additions to the game, AAA should be the hype.

I've been hyping Super Smash Bros. AAA for years.

Look jabronies, Famitsu is far more respected than is this website, IGN, or anything in English, short of Gamerankings, and I'll tell you another thing, when Japanese gamers look for which game to purchase, they sure as hell ain't looking through translated magazines like we are right now, so get over yourselves, all of you who scoff at that magazine, and put more creedance in Gamespot than you do Famitsu, what are you smoking?

And I don't look through Famitsu for tips on what games to get, and neither do most English-speaking people. Otherwise, I might be purchasing stuff like Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 (35/40), or perhaps I'd consider stuff like Gundam: Crossfire (32/40) and Sonic the Hedgehog for 360 (30/40) passable games.

Famitsu is not a particularly credible source, because they are incredibly close to publishers, and it directly affects scores. This is a fact. If that link isn't good enough for you, there are plenty of other places that say the same thing. I don't think they are so deep in people's pockets that they'd give a bad game a 40, but this influence definitely shows.

I'm looking forward to Brawl, and hope it gets AAA here. But that has nothing to do with what Famitsu says. Famitsu is a Japanese magazine with Japanese tastes, and what it likes does not always have any relation to what I like.
