I think the game is very taxing on pc, I've got a 3570k overclocked, 16gigs ram, a 970, also overclocked. I'm running on a custom very high with Parralax Occlusion off, Ambient Occlusion off, Shadows high, 8x aa, Volumetric Lighting on.

Struggle to get a stable 60 no matter what, prague bombing scene fell to mid 30's.

your problem is 8xAA. The games MSAA option is very taxing. At 4xAA even a gtx 1070 cant be kept above 60fps average according to various benchmarks from various tech web sites

Volumetric lighting at ultra and hardening shadows are also very taxing effects than only very high end gpus would get decent frame rates with those enabled

In fact i found the game quite decent port ( high settings including tesselation on and volumetric lighting on on an r9 380 getting between 45-60fps ) and the amount of graphics and gameplay options you can tailor on pc is a vry welcome sight .

I have msaa off, I have tried so many different settings including turning things off entirely and it never gave me a stable 60, the frame rate would always fluctuate between 40-60. With the settings above my frame rate would probably be an average of around 56, which is very playable but I like to have a constant 60. Guess I need to buy a 1080 haha.

How is this game compared to Human Revolution anyway?

its like HR but improved on everything possible. a must own if you enjoyed HR even a little bit.

hmmm. basically best Deus Ex since Original. Am i right?

I missed the original when it came out. when i played it, it was way outdated and i did not enjoy it as much as i should have.

Grab the Steam version of Deus Ex, which should be cheap as dirt, and install Revision, a well made overhaul that massively improves the game on all fronts - but keeps the core that the developers envisioned intact.

For all intents and purposes it's basically a remake of the original, that any Deus Ex fan should give a go, because it's the best in the series.

@sailor232:

Mind you the game seems to be highly cpu intensive as well. It seems people with i5 have a hard time getting stable 60. In fact even my relatively weak r9 380 is slightly been bottleneck by my i5 4440 ( in areas with lots of A.I. and physics gpu clock speed falls from the default 1010mhz to about 900mhz which indicates a small cpu bottleneck so i guess a higher end gpu like yours will be even more bottlenecks by an i5)

A dx12 patch is coming in early September so that might get you to 60fps. Meanwhile according to a developer post in square enix forums cloth physics and level of detail are the 2 things that affect cpu the most)

got the Steel book version yesterday, Game is freaking amazing, so much better than mankind divided and the default control scheme allows you to play the whole game in first person COD style if you like.

Personally, i don't, but it's nice for those that do want to play like that

I was going to get it on PC, but I'll hold off for a while.

I really need to start finishing my games before buying even more.

You and 90% of posters it seems. It's good for the industry for sure, but personally, I don't buy something without the intention of playing it right away.

Why not wait? You'll be able to save money if you buy it later, assuming there's other games in your possession to intend to get to. If I'm preoccupied by another game I'm really enjoying, then I wait.

@lucidique: Human Revolution: Director's cut fixed the boss fights as well as a few other balancing issues. It really is the best version. If you find a way to get it cheap, just do it.

if not, no point in waiting (and there are workarounds, I got one of these crashes but disabling DLC and playing in windowed mode fixed it)

What is up with user reviews on steam? Any hyped game now-a-days gets trashed on day 1 .... just for some technical difficulties at launch. Negative reviews are posted within an hour of launch sometimes. 95% of the time these issues get resolved within 24 hours. Everyone just wants to be so negative on the internet.

Only played the first hour or so yesterday at midnight and so far I like the vibe I'm getting, first mission starts out strong and I like the fact that they had that 12 min recap video. Going to play a lot more tonight, got the XOne version and it looks great, first area in Dubai was nice and so far this game feels like a blockbuster.

Hopefully the story keeps me interested, I loved Human Revolution.... this kind of gritty sci-fi setting is probably one of my favorites and they don't come out often enough.

I guess I could mention 1 minor thing is that the musical score, so far, did not impact me like Human Rev first did.,...it felt slightly too low key, I don't know...maybe I was too tired yesterday and I only played a little, so not a biggie so far. Controls are good and I like how they give you different scheme options. Can't wait to play more later!

Been on it for an hour and half and totally agree. It draws any fan of HR right in. The recap vid was cool, no battery cells is pure win.

Sound track isn't standing out like HR did, you're right.

I never played Human Revolution, so what kind of recap video does it pertain too? I've been looking into Mankind Divided...

There is a cheap way to easily win all of the boss fights though even with a stealth character. You just gotta use the Typhoon. 2 hits and most of the bosses are dead. The ammo is kinda rare but if you're like me and search every inch of the map you'll never run out.

Back on topic though, I can't wait to play Mankind Divided later. It's been my most anticipated game. I don't usually get hyped for games anymore, but this one is a rare exception.

Yeah, that's what I did with the original release. They made such a big deal about the Typhoon in the story that using it to beat the bosses with my stealth build didn't break the immersion at all. I still love the Director's Cut better though. The refinement of the augs and energy consumption made for a much more pleasant game play experience, on top of the boss fixes.

Yup, on PC here, So far I am unsure what to make of it, it feels like HR, and it seems that there are 3 base Hubs you always move around in.

Now the thing I am unsure of is how much I like some of this: The areas are pretty large, but somewhat inconsistent, It might have been the point, but it can feel jarring, and the game lacks some of the impressive visuals from the three other main line games, This almost feels like Half Life 2: The RPG.

on the plus side, the story is close to Deus Ex1 in the timeline, meaning that people, and things are happening that fans know who are, and a sense of foreboding because those players will know what will happen And nothing can be done to stop it (Since the first game will never happen if it does).

But overall I like it, I would have liked a more varied art style, but since it seems to be in one city, I will make do with City 17 Mk.2

@kinky-unikorn: When you start a new game of Mankind Divided, it asks you if you want to play a 12 min video that summarizes the events of Human Rev.

I think its mostly the cutscenes back to back (edited not full) and there is a narrator speaking. So its nice for people who didn't play the first game, and people like me who did but kind of forgot some story details.
