Lol, remember all the bashing 360 owners got for having pc ports? Well now you guys' entire interface will be a PC port of Second Life. I don't need a PS3 I can play second life on pc and don't have to pay 600 bucks to do it. But seriously what's the big deal about this? I'm not understanding the hype at all.

It's pretty funny how you use a Master Chief display picture, but you are a heck of a cow. Home is innovative, so I look forward to see how it works. However, it doesn't seem to yank me off my XBOX 360. gnutux

this is honestly one of the worst arguments ive ever seen on SWR-Dot-Yung
Well now you know how 360 owners feel when cows say that about some of 360s games. Or the even funnier one: "well ill just wait two years until it comes out on the pc."

Let me explain it to you. Sony's version of the second life, as you describe it, is more than a game. It's a 3D network where consumers, groups, communities and businesses can come together to share ideas. And because it isn't a closed environment, ala Xbox live, it potenially is a 3D internet. Home is a far more amibitous strategy than what M$ are offering.

What I fail to see is you saying Home is a port of Second Life. Sure it's like an MMORPG but... I still fail to see it.

Ya, by buying the PS3, people are now thrown out the window in the process of having their PS3 pissing them off :p. lmao, this guy is funny. [quote="dictionary.com"] de·fen·es·tra·tion /diˌfɛnəˈstreɪʃən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[dee-fen-uh-strey-shuhn] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –noun the act of throwing a thing or esp. a person out of a window: the defenestration of the commissioners at Prague. [Origin: 1610–20; de- + L fenestr(a) window + -ation]

Ya, that will definitely help Sony sell PS3s. gnutux

1 question: Was Second Life an ever expanding network of businesses as well as consumers? That's what Home is proposing. Thank you. Now why don't you just go off.

1.It's coded from the ground up by Sony with no code from Second life therefore it is not a port.

2.I has no monthly fee (Free if you don't want useless t-shirts)

3.It links with the rest of the PS3 (Online matchmaking)

Wouldn't damage have to be dealt first? I don't see an MMORPG sans RPG to be that much ownage. I'd rather play a game while I make friends. Besides, you'll still be typing all your dialog in this "virtual world".

Here's the spin then; take Second Life and turn it into the core cummunity ascept of your console consumer market, take that premise and offer it to your business partners so they can expand the network with their own content and you have Home.

yah, that. But the most hilarious part is that Home has NOTHING to do with gaming! Its useless in all respects as a gaming device. Its a way to distract people from the fact that there arent any quality titles that would compel you to buy a ps3 and it also gives something for the fanboys to do, to waste time at, until a game thats worth playing comes out. Its a pure joke; 3d myspace sounds......useless on a gaming system. Myspace as it is is useless.....why would sony think its appropriate, in 3d form, for a 600 dollar gaming console? Simply put; its a way to sell useless nonsense and make pure profit. Advertising and selling useless crap like posters/clothes for your 3d avatars is pure profit and sony thinks by doing so it will give their audience some futile sense of purpose or achievement. Ultimately it has NOTHING to do with gaming! The fact taht cows are looking forward to this is a testament that they really event arent gamers; they are in it for the fancy graphics, multimedia functions and other non-gaming related features that in no way justify a $600 investment.

Let me explain it to you. Sony's version of the second life, as you describe it, is more than a game. It's a 3D network where consumers, groups, communities and businesses can come together to share ideas. And because it isn't a closed environment, ala Xbox live, it potenially is a 3D internet. Home is a far more amibitous strategy than what M$ are offering.Rashpal

I see.
[QUOTE="Second-Life Site"] From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business. You'll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow residents. Because residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other residents. The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. 1. Second Life is a closed and controlled environment and 2. It doesn't offer opportunities for other businesses to explore business ventures on the network and potentially expand it with their content. With these points alone I think I've highlighted the limitations of Linden Lab's product. Home is a far more amibitous offering. Nice try though...

What's funny about cows hyping home is it does not improve online game play at all. Home won't give all online games standard features like text, voice, video chat in game. Home won't make achievements standard on the ps3 or let you download stuff while watching a dvd or playing a game. So why are cows so happy about home when it changes nothing about what really matters.

I understand that Home is pretty cool, but there is nothing innovative or revolutionary about it. Its just a world where you walk around, with this logic basically any kind of online PC game (free or not) is innovative. Xbox Live is cool because of achievements and being able to check scores and stuff in the middle of a game and such.

[QUOTE="shsonline"]Lol, remember all the bashing 360 owners got for having pc ports? Well now you guys' entire interface will be a PC port of Second Life. I don't need a PS3 I can play second life on pc and don't have to pay 600 bucks to do it. But seriously what's the big deal about this? I'm not understanding the hype at all.

maybe you should watch the demonstration Phil gave of HOME. Just a thought.

Another Lemming loses all credibility by failing to mention the $500 PS3.

I'm sorry that you're jealous of the service PS3 owners will be getting for free. Gamespot should make a special forum just so you kids can go there to cry about it.

[QUOTE="neonvzla"][QUOTE="Rashpal"]Let me explain it to you.

I see.
From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. This commerce is handled with the in-world unit-of-trade, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online Linden Dollar exchanges. Second-Life Site

Please, care to elaborate what you mean with a "closed enviroment"  in comparisson to Home, and of course it controlled and would be silly to think that Home won't have any kind of control.
Thats because its the companies the one who are paying to maintain the system, otherwise, it would be stupid from Sony to make them pay for it and not allowe said companies to do something useful with it, but other than that, its pretty much the same, the only difference being who provides the in-situ content, in one being gaming companies, in the other being the users. And still, any company can create an account and provide services and other stuff in Second Life.
Also SL have made several people millionares in real life.
