Hi. I while ago i got a 360 with 15 games and an extra pad. I have now been playing for 2 weeks and finished a few games and i wanted to review the console and the games. The console is pretty good but has some obvious design flaws like heat and noise, thats the main problems and i cant list the 3 red lights because i havent had any problems with the lighs or discscratching. The controllers are a good improvement from the last gens box but they could come standard with a charge cable(charge & play) the D-pad is a slight minus but overall great. Now fot the games. Ive been playing Gears of War, Viva pinata, PD0, PGR3 and crackdown.
1. Gears is a great game with awesome atmosphere and mindblowing graphics and with good gameplay, infact there isnt anything bad about this game but it could have been slightly longer i give it a 9.
2. PD0 This is one of the worst games i EVER played, i heard it got 9 and something here at GS. The gameplay is bad and the graphis are last gen with added "chrome" effect on every surface. Why does paper boxes shine? The story is very average and i would say below it. It also has some mild framarate problems which is weird becaus it was a launch title? I give this horrible game a 4.
3.Viva pinata was fun and dare i say original. The art s tyle is fun and overall its pretty good.Very time consuming. It could have faster (or no...)loading times between switching inside nests and etc. I dont have much to say about this game and it gets a 8.
4. Crackdown Well it is fun in co op and fun in singleplayer when it lasts but most of you know it doesent last long. Gameplay is good and overall the game reminds me of GTA, and maby thats a problem because you think and it feels like your playing GTA but it isnt. A very average game but the co op raises the score if you have any friends. i give it a 7.
5.PGR3 This is a perfect example of gameplay --->graphics, and this is the one with graphics. The driving is very average nothing i havent seen before and it seems to lack something to make the player want to play it. Its easy to get money and basicly buy any car you want. This game lacks soul. The only thing good about this game is the graphics and it deserves a 6.
Overall im pretty happy and satisfied despite the heat and sound its the games that make a console but some are hugely overrated in my opinion and some reviewers most have been smoking crack or eating some odd shrooms. Games still havent opened/finished: N3(played 2 first levels and its bad), Lost planet, NFS carbon(good not 100% completed but has some framerate problems in the later races when speed picks up but overall satisfying), DOA4,DOAX,Eragon,Gun, NHL07, Marvel ultimate alliance,Samurai warriors...
the system it selfs has a last gen feel to it when i play 360 it feels alot like dream cast. dont get me wrong dream cast is good but when i played it it feels like its stuck in between gens

That makes no sense at all. I own all 3 and the only one that may "feel" like that is the Wii; this is due to the graphics. The 360 is awesome and given some time so will the PS3.

I think I may know what he means by this. Lots of the games seem to not be "full-fledged". They were very shallow and felt empty, as if they were just quick games to put on a next-gen console. I felt this way when the 360 launched, but now as more developers move to the next-gen consoles being their primary console, I feel this is going away. Like when he described there was "no soul" in PGR3, it felt slapped together maybe, because it had the same tracks essentially as PGR2 with upgraded visuals. But that was a launch game also. The new games coming out don't lack that "soul" IMO.

launch had some good games though like cod2, pgr3, and kameo. Kameo looked stunning on my hd!!
good review. it's very true. 360 is a incredible console. but most of the games are totally overrated.
crackdown for example... i don't think anyone will talk about this game anymore once gta IV is out... because then it's gonna like gianna sisters vs mario64. but still everyone says "it's underrated". it's not. it's highly overrated. if this game gets a 9.0 or something, what are the real freeroam masterpieces gonna get? a 16??

Yeah I agree launch had good games. But some of them were just missing that little bit to make them great. But that is to be expected w/ launch.

if you don't like gta, i'm sorry for you. but OVERRATED? you must be kidding. the GTA games are the best games ever made. they offer more fun than any other game on this planet ever has. maybe not for players that stick to one genre. but for everyone that loves some good entertainment

Man, PDZ is a very good game but not for unexperienced shooter players and PGR 3 is the best racing (not autosim) game since NFS 5. It's more interesting then GT 4.

Umm...yeah I wouldn't give PDZ a 4, it's actually a really good (graphically) game, with a variety of weapons and decent online (it's fun at least...). It also has some of the best textures out there, but the character models look only slightly better than last gen. It's more of a 7-8 game.
i think this gen is the worst upgrade in console tech in video game history. 360 and ps3 are basically making good looking xbox and ps2 games. The wii is just making last gen games but with a new way of playing them. That's why I chose the wii, but I am still not overly impressed because of the graphical stagnation. If the wii had the muscle to compete graphically, it would be an absolute landslide.
