Not yet, I would wait till at least December to buy one. But if the games you want for the system are out, then yeah you should get it. I just dont think any of them are worth it yet. Its kinda like when I 1st got the PS3 I didnt really have much to play on it.

It was also supposed to have teh best launch line up of all time. Look how that turned out.
Ill be completly unbiased.
Right now games are hard to come by unless you love playing ports of older games...BUT, OOT 3D is thee definitive version of the game, its gorgeous and really fun.
The system itself is nice but the screen's are both lackluster...the resolution is crap. I tried browsing gamespot forums on it and you can hardly read the text compared to my PSP or Iphone 4. The camera is also crap...both of them. I had better resolution on my 1999 virgin mobile cellphone. Price is pretty good now that it dropped to $169 so thats also good...Hmm what else...
The kicker really is the 3d...its the 3DS's own worst enemy. If you LOVE the 3d effect and need to have it all the time, you will find its a pain in the butt because you lose your 'sweet spot' unless you are 100% steady and NEVER move. Also in games like Zelda OOT when you use the motion controls you get cross eye'd because it wants you to move the 3d screen around and your eyes cannot adjust to that, so thats a giant flaw. The sweet spot is probably the 3DS's biggest flaw as a whole given that the entire system is based off of 3D. I love the 3d effect but I find myself turning it off and on all the time because the sweet spot issue gets VERY annoying, especially if you are concentrating on what you're trying to do.
So far I like the system, just wish more original games were out. I like it more than my PSP so far because the visual difference is quite noticable but I have a feeling Vita will steal all my 3ds attention once that releases.
Thats my 2 cents.
I guess
I am just disappointed we've heard nothing about Animal Crossing or Kid Icarus which probably means they aren't coming this year.... Which means until Mario Land in November there is still really nothing coming out.. which sucks
I mean sure there is starfox... but its a remake of a game, and its like the only good game in the franchise lol... It isn't like Zelda where there were several good games that followed it so maybe if you got a Nintendo console more recently and just started liking Zelda you missed out on it?... No if you like StarFox.. StarFox 64 is pretty much the only game you've ever played... Would it really have been that hard to come up with a new game? I mean they had to redraw everything from the ground up, it isn't as complex as Zelda or anything, they could have just rearranged crap and it would have been a new game but they went out of their way to make it the same game again which is disappointing.. But not as disappointing as NO ONLINE.. I mean come ON Nintendo...
And that POkemon game coming out in October is so clearly a late ds game that they at the last minute decided to turn it into a 3DS game.. it looks horrible as well. So its going to be a while till the really good stuff comes
the store is saving it as a system right now.
OOT 3D is great, and played Mario Land 3D and Mario Kart 7 at PAX they were very fun so I'd day yes.
lulmont
... In mario kart do you use the A button or the B button to drive? Was there an option as to which one you could use?
Maybe not now but by the end of the year I would say that it would be worth it with all the games announced for the Holiday season.
The games cost $40 and it now costs $169 so all you need is 4 full priced games that you like and some eShop games and it would be worth the $170 pricetag.

That was going to happen with the wii too. Turns out the 3rd party stuff didn't really turn up.
It has dated technology with a 3D gimmick and none of the bells and whistles afforded to people who are going to be buying a vita, which is a competitor for the increasingly attractive mobile phone and tablet market. The field is getting swamped and Nintendo have completely missed the boat I feel.

I didn't realize the wii was a Nintendo handheld :|Again, is bleeding edge tech mattered so much in the handheld market, third parties would've stayed the hell away from the DS, (which they didn't).
Fact of the matter is NONE of nintendo's handhleds ever suffered from the third party woes that their consoles have gone through since the n64
I personally love my 3DS. I've not put it down since I've had it, and it's been about three weeks already. I downloaded all the NES games I could get on my Ambassador program, which at this point won't mean much to you, however there are some great eShop games I've been enjoying too like Shantae Risky's Revenge, Link's Awakening (GBC game), and right now I have only Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, Dead or Alive Dimensions, and Zelda: OoT 3D which are great games. I do want SF 64 too, err SF 3D I guess it's called? Either way, that one would be fun, but then I probably won't get anything until SM 3D Land, MK 7, and the other games coming out in the next two months.
I've got to say that I do enjoy my system though... To me it's worth it right now, with the games I have, the software, and playing a new handheld has shown me why I prefer gaming on real handhelds over smartphones again. It just feels right. The battery life has honestly not been any issue for me. I play with 3D on a lot even on the go, and recharge the system when I get home. In short bursts, it lasts me the whole day. In long sessions it lasts me about 4 hours maybe with 3D one (brightness at 4 with power saving mode on is really all I need, even for outside play to be honest.) and when I don't play with 3D on (SMT: DSO does not have 3D support, it's essentially a DS port with voice acting and an 8th day added to the game and some of the graphics in the upper screen were redrawn to support the higher rest, but all the action takes place in the bottom screen, this doesn't really matter.
Another thing I love is taking my 3DS with me on the go and getting StreetPass notifications. It's a nice little gimmick that rewards you for taking the system out with you. You get coins to use in games (which varies based on games), then you also could pass over data (depends on the games too) like new challengers for a fight in DOA, or SF's figurine battle, or Mii's in your Mii Plaza, etc.
I Bought the 3DS about 2 or 3 weeks after it's realese in America. In my honest opinion, it's worth it, to me, that is. Yes I shelled out $250 for it because I thought the 3DS was worth that price, and so far the 3DS hasn't dissapointed me. What ultimitly determins if its worth it is if there are any games in it's lybriary that you want/ have interest in, because why buy a console (handheld or not) if there isn't any games you want on it? Look at the current lybriary and look at the games that are coming this holliday season and next year. Are there any games that you want or have interest in? If there is, then buy it. Personally, the holliday season and next year have 12 games I see as must buys for me.
No it is not, and I don't own a 3DS but I already know the answer. People who bought it are going to lie and overhype it so they won't feel like they just wasted a bunch of $$$ on something that's bad. It's kind of like buyers remorse. The 3DS doesn't cut it in my eyes becasue the battery life is so short and the 3D hurts your eyes and gives you a headache. Not fun.

This sounds like a personal matter to you.
Except the 3D doesn't hurt my eyes, has never given me a headache, even in long play stretches, and I don't regret buying the system. Unless you've got some kind of proof, your claims are just merely opinionated and since you don't even own the system, they're less likely to be taken seriously as you obviously don't know what you're talking about. The battery life is fine, hasn't been an issue for me personally. In short burst plays, or long sessions, it's never been a problem for me and my daily play time at home or away.No it is not, and I don't own a 3DS but I already know the answer. I lol'd but I still think you are reading too much into his post. He gave no inclination that he preferred the Vita over 3DS.
Perhaps you are pushing too much of your own personal bias where his was nonexistent in the first place.

oh that.. yea well he is a playstation guy and bashed the wii numerous times so i just "assumed" he would be more of a vita man:P
nope. I paid $250 dollars for it and they still have yet to release a good "new" game for the system after 4 months. The friends system is terrible, the online sucks again. I am getting 20 free games for being an early adapter, but these games are terrible so far and I would have preffered buying the 3DS at the lowered price. I say don't get it until the eventual revision of the 3DS, by then it will have a lot more games to get.
Unless you want OoT, At the moment, No.
Asked a few weeks ago, I would have said "Maybe" for the ambassador program, but at the moment, its not worth your money.
I only bought it early for OOT, don't regret it in the slightest, but Its mainly become used for playing DS games.
Once games like Kid Icarus are relased it will become worth it again, but until then... don't worry to much about it.
(Unless you like the streetpass system and go to a lot of conventions)
Early adopters always have to suffer the initial drought. Have you forgotten the first year of the DS Phat? God it was so awful than the 3DS. And look at the DS now.lordlorsI'm enjoying 4 3DS games as well as the free games I got , so thanks.
[QUOTE="locopatho"]No, not yet. 3D is pointless imo, and the games aren't really there yet. A regular DS or a PSP would be better bets right now.moistsandwichthis doesnt make any sense... why would you recommend the DS but not the 3DS... all DS games play on the 3DS. Or do you think that its somehow economical to buy a DS and later buy a 3DS when some good games for it? I;ve seen a used DS for 50 euros. The 3DS is more then triple that. Why pay more?

They could release all the currently announced games then decide it's time to pack it in, and the 3DS would still be worth it.
