Check my modest specs in my sig. A pretty average system which cost me £450 2 years ago runs Crysis Very High 0AA at 1080p at 25-30fps.

Haha I'm the one who asked if there were any mods on it :P. That's really nice looking, just sounds a bit expensive for what I'm looking at (I know, cheaping out, but it's really just to get some games I wish I had, I don't need perfect graphics).

Oh, haha. :P Well you said you managed to run it on medium, so what are you specs? Just grab a cheap HD48xx series card. :) If Crysis 2 doesn't demand an upgrade, I doubt I will, to be honest. I mean, the tessalation in a few games look nice, but I'm not really that bothered.

The computer I use for that is actually kinda one piece, the monitor is the computer, so it can't even really be upgraded in standard ways. Not even sure how it can do that, but I've seen the exact same computer do it.

My laptop is almost ready to give out on me sooo in a few weeks and a couple of more work days I'll be buying myself a new PC. I'm pretty excited, and no it's not gonna be for gaming but I am looking to spend between 500 to 600 bones on one which will probably be able to play most PC games anyways if I choose to :)

Any suggestions?

Well, if you're not planning to use it as a dedicated gaming system, 500 to 600 would easily be enough. Pretty much any dual or quad, and a mobo with a PCI express slot will do. Then just grab a fairly decent mid range GPU and you're all set. Obviously you won't be maxing out games, but you'll be playing games alot better then the consoles play them, until the next gen arrives.

I see, so does this sound like a decent rig ...

  • AMD Phenom II X4 820(2.8GHz)
  • 64 bit Quad-Core Processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9100
  • 8GB DDR3
  • Windows 7

Also I've heard Crysis Warhead is easier to run then Crysis, is this true?

That's an odd choice of GPU. It's not going to run too much, and I find it very odd that it's paired up with 8gb of DDR3 ram.

Drop the ram to 4gb DDR3, and pick up something like a GT 240, which go for around $100.

In my experience Crysis Warhead is alot easier to run then Crysis, but it loses a sense of epicness. It's still epic, but it loses something. :? Still a great game. And as lundy86_4 said, the GF9100 is pretty weak, so you'd definitely need to invest in atleast a 9600GT / GTS240 or a 9800GT to accompany those pretty nice specs. You'll be missing DX11 features, but I don't think they'll that important yet, especaillyy if you're on a budget. Also 4gb of DDR3 RAM should suffice.

But I can't stress enough, the absolutely minimum GPU model you should aim for is the 9600GT or a HD4670. Anything below will result in having to play 720p with low - medium settings.

in my experience the original crysis always ran much better than warhead never sure why.
