In the wake of the price being increased, I did a little reflecting on really what Live offers to me as of right now personaly. I rarely game online anymore, PS3 now has a netflicks app thats atleast as good as the 360 one right now, I dont care abour facebook and twitter on my consoles, I think Last FM is neat, but I dont use it that much.

So really, im not sure what Live has to offer me anymore. I feel like im gonna get my moneys worth more out of PS Plus then I am live right now, since the main thing that seperates Live from PSN (Online play) dosent appeal to me anymore.

The problem however is that MS has made Live so apart of what the 360 is, to the point that I will probaly be locked out of alot of stuff if I dont get it, so MS is basicaly forcing me to renew because they are not updating free users with anything new anymore really.

LIVE is a stellar service, and it's down to you as a individual to decide whether the features on offer are enough to satisfy you at the current price point.

No gamer should feel the way you do right now, and Microsoft's whole philosophy relies on making you feel this way so you just end up paying. Even though deep down you know you shouldn't. They are amazing at marketing and finding "loop holes" in business. What can we do? Honestly what you just did, speak up, that's the only way we'll ever come close to being heard and changing their ways. Unfortunalty there are fanboys that defend them to the death and get mad at people like you for speaking up.

People are wasting their money with XBLG and PSN+ is a fools errand. Just go with PSN if you have a PS3 and can live without Halo multiplayer. Bad Company 2, MAG and Killzone 3 is all you really need.

Well to be fair you need to have the correct ISP to use the new ESPN3, and even then I could just get it on my PC.

I feel the same way. Now I almost have to get one more year of Live because Gears 3 was delayed. My gold expires in May and I wasn't going to renew it if Gears 3 was garbage like Gears 2.

I've bought Live for 3 years and I'm getting sick of it.

You answered your own question really.

Xbox Live Gold is for people that like to play online where many of its features shine. Apparently, Xbox Live Gold isn't right fit for you anymore. Good luck with your new direction.

I already have a PS3 and a PC, and I get great online functionality out of those at no additional cost. I hate that Microsoft has tied online gaming to all of these extra things that I don't want or care about. I don't want Twitter, Facebook, Zune, Pandora, Last.FM, or any of that garbage. All I want to do is play with my friends, and Microsoft forces me to pay for superfluous crap to do it. So, I don't pay for Live and I never will.

I payed for it for 2 years then descided it wasn't worth it anymore as well. There are free choices out there that do the same job for free. It's a rip off in the end but not everyone has as many choices soo they have to pay for it or be left out.

I never got Live for a similar reason. If there is ever a 360 exclusive that I want to play online, I just go to a mates to play it, because I play all my multi plats online for free on my pc or ps3.

I swear some people pay for XBLG it just to feel like better fans, same for PSN+ and would definitely happen if Nintendo had a similar service too.

That's why I'm reluctant to buy a 360. I go through long periods of time where I don't play online. I don't want to pay for something that I'm not using regularly. And say one day I do get a craving to play some game online for a little bit, I don't want to fork over $50 (soon to be $60) just to play. I've always seen XBL as a mild form of extortion. I can guarantee the numbers Gold would be much lower if Silver offered online play and Gold just gave you the party options, cross game chat, facebook, last fm, and the other stuff.

Ive never liked it. It doesnt offer massive difference's to online that I cant get on ps3 even less difference on my pc. The real pain for me was lfd2. Paying for content I could d/l for free on steam was a real kick in the teeth:( The only positive factor I had was 95% of my rl mates play xbox, the one thing i miss about playing xbox

It's not about the cost, it's about the principle. Paying for Live tells Microsoft that it's okay to charge for online play, and that it's okay to tie gaming features (like online play and voice chat) to stuff that doesn't matter to all gamers (Twitter). I can play online games for free on my PS3, PC, Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, and cell phone. What makes my Xbox 360 special? Why should I have to pay to play it online?

Nobody can justify the price of Xbox Live. We've all tried but failed. It's simply one big rip-off that we have to pay for to play games online. Simple as that.

Yeah like I'd never pay for online (when I'm already paying for my internet service) but every now and then I do jump in for an online game on PSN and that liberty isn't on 360.:(

Buying Live for a month is another option though. I'd totally pay like $9 to play Black Ops for a whole month online.:P Hell it's like instead of buying some awesome chinese food, buy McDonalds instead and pay for Live.:P

Exactly. If you don't like LIVE. Just don't get it. If enough people decide not to get it, then the market will correct itself naturally. What's funny is people trying to tell others that it isn't worth it even when they aren't asking about LIVE.
