[QUOTE="dlp21"][QUOTE="HungryLikeAMug"]its strange how people constantly whine about WWAAAHHH THIS IS MY 19TH CONSOLE.....when i am on a launch....and it works flawlessly....luck of the draw perhaps?Lazy_Boy88
What's strange about it, yours works, theirs don't. Honestly, I don't have a reason to own a 360 yet, but if I did get one, I would just add a watercooling system to it. We are pretty confident it is the GPU causeing the problems, so it is to easy to keep it cool, or add a bigger fan, which will actually reduce noise as well.
Why the hell would you waste time doing that? Just send it in if it dies.
Not everyone likes having their console die on them, warranty or not.
Once it dies, you have to:
Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX
Wait for them to send a box to ship it in, and actually have it work around your schedule so they show up when you are home.
Send it in.
Wait. Wait. Wait.
Some people end up waiting ridiculously long and then when they call to check on it, it can be all sorts of nightmare.
I had a person tell me of her first-hand experience with Microsoft's CS over the RROD thing. She said she was on the phone a total of 5 hours, she was holding for 2 of those hours, she was transferred 11 times, and each time they asked her the exact same set of questions as the previous person she spoke to, she was hung up on 4 times by tier 2 CSRs. When they finally acknowledged her at all, they said she had never even sent the system in.
This girl was buying another 360 for her boyfriend so they could sell the refurbished original when it came back. She had no interest in gaming and no reason to hate MS, but she was dealing with that crap for her BF. She was livid just recalling it.
On top of that, I don't want to worry about my console dying when I reach a pivotal point in Mass Effect. I've had my HDTV die on me 20 minutes after I first started playing Warhawk, and it was horrible. I only had to wait until the next morning to go exchange it for a new unit, but knowing that that new game I just busted into would have to wait until the next day, sucked.
Then there is the fact that once the 3 year warranty period is up, you are hooped, and you'll be paying like $100 to send it in and have it fixed when it dies. For launch owners, the most diehard fans, their warranty is up a year from now. Don't you think the 360 will still be going strong by then?
I would take the extra time to buy a cooling unit if it meant I could avoid having something break. I really, really hate having electronics crap out on me. Like, really, seriously, extremely hate it. I'm sure I'm not alone.
