Both platforms manage to create truly amazing visuals -- both have proved this. I dont see a point in arguing if a game looks slightly better than another.
they're about equal. graphical capabilities for games appear to be exclusively a function of the talent-level of the developers making games for the systems. both have games that shine.
2006 - Gears of War 2007 - Uncharted 2008 - Gears of War 2? (question mark for teh MGS4 fanboys) 2009 - KZ2 probably, though still early in the year. I'll say they're about the same, but PS3 probably has more potential.
Well to be honest it seems that the graphics on the 360 are toned out a bit more than the PS3, there are less jagged edges and such, but it's not even much of a difference to ever notice unless you look for it really closely, both are great.
I THINK its the PS3 regarding it has a Blu-Ray disk.. so it can preform MUCH better visuals than a DVD.. but then again the Xbox uses DVD use to the limits and beyond really.
well ports tend to favor 360 because some developers dont like to use the Cell system in the PS3 and get lazy
But buliding a PS3 game from the ground up like first party PS3 games tend to look better like MGS4 and Insomanic and Naughty dogg really know how to tap the power of the PS3

Without bias, neither honestly, both have proven fully capable of delivering exceptional graphics, and both machines feature games that would be included in any "best graphics" catagory.

Theoretically, yes, Blu-ray can hold more content, but the system itself is still limited to 512MB of RAM, so the system itself can only stream so many textures, characters, etc, on the screen at once. While the disc offers a lot of possibilities, the PS3 is held back by a GPU and RAM on par with 360. The Cell is more powerful than the competitor, but that only helps physic calculations (and GTA IV already has some of the best physics/animations this gen due to the Euphoria Engine), etc.

THey are both the same or equal in graphics department. The PS3 has more potential (killzone 2, heavy rain, and Uncharted to name a few). just buy what ever makes you happy you can't go wrong. On the bright side you have the 360 which is cheaper, better controller and no load installs (ps3 sucks because of this) barely a little better online service (easier to bug your friends while playing a game. The downside to the 360 is scratched disks beyond replayability (mine is notorious for this), paying $60/year for online multiplayer (If you make a bad online name you have to pay 13 dollars to have it changed), no blu-ray player (fanboys say this doesn't make a difference but trust me it does), And depending on what version of 360 you get you'll being paying the exact same price as you would for a ps3, plus 60 dollars every year if you like playing online. Not being biased just stating facts that I have run into personally and I thought I'd share my experience to help you make a choice. It's your choice so good luck you can't go wrong with either choice.
but yeah , judging from Killzone 2 i would say PS3 at this point

umm 360 has 3 cores and PS3 has 8 (1 locked/1 used for OS) so 6 i guess Umm 360 has 3 true cores while the ps3 has 1 core with 7 usable cells. Both very different but both very effective.

Honestly I heard the PS3 is more powerful. I was listening to a radio show where they interviewed some devs, it would take me forever to find it again. They said the PS3 is more powerful it's just really hard to dev for. That's why were not seeing it right now.
Because nothing on 360 comes close to Killzone 2, I'll go with Ps3.

i think the ps3 has the capabilities to be slightly more than the 360 but itusuallyencounters framerate issues when they try to make it more so in long term about equal as well becausepersonallyi would prefer slightly less graphics with no framerate issues over the alternative

the only thing that matters are the games. if the games don't show a meaningful advantage either way, nothing else...nothing "on paper" really matters.

they are pretty even. they seem to just switch off. First it was Gears then Uncharted then Gears 2 and now it should be Killzone 2 until the 360 comes out with something better than that.....so, yeah.
