BS Jive has even less than no new games. lol :P
Cant wait. I have 98 hours in Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 (I think it was my third most played game of 2023, after BG3 and RE4)
but I'll double dip and play it on PC.
On PS5, which is 1/8th the power of my 4090 it is still easily among the top 5 best looking games, maybe even top 3.
with DLSS3, FG, 4K/120fps and all ultra settings its gonna blow everything off the water.
Or it'll look marginally better than the PS5 version (which already looks insanely good).
@R4gn4r0k: Yeah make no mistake, the PC version at max will probably look extremely similar to the quality on PS5 (which already as you pointed out looks phenomenal).
The difference is that a 4090 will get 120+ fps at the same if not higher setting than the what the PS5 runs in 30 fps (so a 4x performance increase with a minor visual increase)
I doubt that they will put full path tracing into the game and if they did the 4090 would probably only get 60 fps at PS5 quality settings (with FG)
Just look at Ratchet & Clank: RA. 4090 in 4K DLSS3 all maxed gets 150-180 fps, and it looks close to the 4K/30 | 4K/40 modes on PS5.
@Mozelleple112: no it will look better than ps5, significantly better. I have started playing more games on my pc instead of Xbox and I noticed the bump in visual quality and my gpu is only a mid range intel arc a770. Games like gears of war, halo, dungeons 5, dead cells, hogwarts all look better. It's not a huge difference but it is noticeable. But on the other hand, I do notice that Xbox tends to be smoother while the pc chugs more.
Unless Sony devs are incompetent, it will be easy to create something on pc that looks better than the ps5, unless they chose not to.
First game looked fantastic on PS5, I have the code for this game, will play soon!
I guess it was not good enough for you to play.🙃
I played the first game since I never finished it. Thought I should before I play second. Then I got wrapped up in AC Valhalla and Ghost of Toshiba!
Played the original once on PS4 and accumulated 65 hours a few years later on Steam. Still would only rate it a 3/5. Easy to waste time on, but bland in every way that matters, including clothes/art direction and protagonist. Combat was mediocre for pushing shooting so much and having no satisfying spear mechanics. Just this shitty chain of umbrella swings. It's sad we will never get a big Frazetta/Conan-style action-adventure.
If Sony put their games Day and Date on PC with these features I'd stop buying Playstations.
Ill do that before you.
You just described why people don't need Xbox consoles. Lol... I think being locked to hardware is crap and it hurts gamers.

True, I remember a short period of time where even movies started doing this (HD-DVD vs BLURAY). Fortunately it never took off.

This is a day one purchase for me on Steam!

I think Avatar destroys horizons graphics
Finally. Immediately went to check my wishlist and promptly pre-ordered. Already gonna 100% buy it anyway, so might as well get the formality out of the way.
I'm also dropping everything and starting a new play-through of HZD, as I've already planned to do years ago for the day they announce the exact release date. Kept the game installed on my SSD just for this.
So yeah, @SolidGame_basic, you already know what I'm playing this weekend.
Eventhough I will always applaud games having DLSS or DLAA I think the game on PS5 already looks fine, damn fine.
The thing I want to get this most on PC for is the mouse aiming.
Horizon games are complex games where you have to shoot certain weak spots off of certain dinosaur robots.
Now how the hell am I suppose to do that with an analogue stick?
Xbox PC get the best version of the bad Play Station game but no body want to play it - low sale for HZD may be think about Game Pass Phony bc it boost the number of Palworld!!! 😎
@spelamera:
Destroys is definitely the wrong.
The Fidelity (40fps) mode on PS5 is dangerously close to Alan Wake 2 maxed out path tracing.
I haven't got Avatar on PC yet, so I cannot quite judge properly but from what I have seen it is probably the graphics king yes.
When HFW comes out if the PC version improves on the PS5 in any capacity it will probably surpass AW2 graphically and maybe even Avatar.
Though I bet the 4K@30-40 fps will just run at 4K/120 (on 4090, and maybe 150-180 fps with FG) with improved LODs.

It is even a hidden greater settings than maxed in Avatar for future hardware, but even in maxed it will blow your mind when you play it yourself.

tbf I hope 5000 series has a notable 4K bump with all these insane 4K 240hz monitors comming out. I want 144hz mininum in any game 😂😅
I was hoping they'd add some RT, but I figured they wouldn't since they didn't for any of the other ports except Returnal, which looks great.
I'll be skipping this at least until it's cheap since I wasn't a big fan of the first one.
If it had RT, I'd want to check it out just for the tech portion, but meh, I'll wait.
Glad it's coming to PC, though.
@robertos:
Native 4K/240 isn't happening, but DLSS Quality on an RTX 5090 should run many games in 4K/240.
the only gets that get 4K/240 on a 4090 are eSports games (Overwatch 1-2, Siege, CSGO,CS2, Valorant) and extremely well optimised games like Doom Eternal. and of course really old games.
(all max settings of course).
most games get 100-150fps at 4K with a 4090. but there number unless they are UE5 or have path tracing in which the native performance is in the 20-30s and DLSS3 brings it up to 70-100 fps.
The 5090 will finally be able to hit 4K/120 (DLSS3) in Avatar, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077 and other RTX/path traced remasters.

A lot of the RT effects in Spiderman weren't there before on PS4, I suggest taking a look at the DF tech interview with Nixxes as well :)
@robertos: Haha yeah, Ratchet & Clank supports DLSS3. So DLSS and FG. Frame rates go brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
And it looks like a pixar movie.
I played the first game since I never finished it. Thought I should before I play second. Then I got wrapped up in AC Valhalla and Ghost of Toshiba!
The core story is interesting. The execution and gameplay....meh. You don't need to finish the first game to play this.

Were there? Or were they just stronger RT implementations? I know the reflections and shadows have more bounces, but I don't think they added any extra RT. I believe Returnal added reflections for the PC version, whereas the PS5 still uses screenspace.
It is possible that Horizon FW adds RT later on, though, you are right about that. Since Returnal didn't have any RT at all to begin with and then they had a big update.
As usual a PlayStation game isn't really an exclusive, but a timed multiplat. Like 99% of its "exclusives". Looks like Sony's garbage developers didn't screw up this time and it will be best on PC by miles - just like God of War and Spider-Man. Thanks for beta testin' Cows.
Will still have the same stupid interface with a mouse and keyboard, though, forcing the user to cycle through five to ten items instead of using the number row. Walking will probably be a damn toggle again.
@DragonfireXZ95: yup, they added more RT effects that weren't in the PS5 version at all. For both Ratchet and Clank and the two Spiderman games.
I'm looking and I only see improvements, not actual extra RT methods used. It seems to be just reflections, which is exactly what the PS5 uses, of course at a lower level of RT detail. This is from the DF page: https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2022-marvels-spider-man-pc-tech-review
PS5 Performance RT | PS5 Fidelity | PC Optimised Settings | |

Where exactly in the video do they highlight new RT features? Because frankly, I'm not watching the whole 26 minutes to find it. Lol
