@tdkmillsy: How many new AAA games releasing this year run on a PS4 equivalent GPU and CPU on PC? I would think most new PC games have moved on from supporting that graphics card by now. Could be wrong, I don't know.

"Support" doesn't work the same way on PC. The most common issue tends to be games requiring a new driver that no longer supports your old card or a base DirectX version that your ancient card can't support, but it's not an explicit "our game won't support your card". The old PS4/X1 equivalents are still supported by the most current drivers so they are still TECHNICALLY in the green.

R7 260X (at release equated to Phat Xbox One) still holds up in contemporary games, at least with the base consoles as a reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbag1bpwVMw

A few titles on there it seems below consoles, and others it looks to be above, so there's some caution surrounding PC ports warranted there probably

HZD was great because of it's story, which was wrapped up very well at the end.

I have doubts that they will be able to come up with a narrative as compelling as the first game, and I don't think the series holds up on game play alone.

Like I said, we'll see, but yeah 60fps or I'm not going to waste my time.

Yeah exactly, Horizon Zero Dawn was a nice one-and-done story that presented an entirely new setting and wrapped up really well.

Still I was already up for more with The Frozen Wilds.

@joshrmeyer: oh that's a much more powerful GPU than a base ps4. I'm sure it will last you a good while (although personally I'd really try to get an rtx2000 series - that will allow you to use dlss and prolong the life/performance a lot).

Was the game even confirmed to be native 4k in 30fps? Or will it be another faux4K and 30fps? If a game can't do proper 4k in 30fps and 60fps mode is also available, what is the point of the 30fps mode?

I can see the PS5 running this at 4K/30. This is Guerrilla after all.

The 60fps mode will make some sacrifices. Compare it to Spider man: worse lighting/ray tracing and lowering the resolution should get them there.

People who want eye candy. Some people buy this 499 console and want their games to look the best.

Others want their games to be playable. So it's good Sony is finally catering to the latter and including 60fps modes in all their games.

I'll probably get this on PS5 since it is the first SONY exclusive I'm actually a little interested in.

The game looked fantastic from the latest video shown running on PS5 and with todays economic worldwide situation its understandable why some current gen games have to include the previous ones.

I'm actually surprised new Ratchet is only on PS5 to be honest.

Either way, choosing a next gen system does allow visual/audio/performance enhancements over the old gen so the choices are there.

I'll get it on Xbox Gamepass when it releases, which shouldn't take long.

@R4gn4r0k:I didn't get any stuttering when I originally played it, but it did run way better in borderless than it did in full screen if I remember correctly. They did fix that, though; and they made the game run about 10% better overall a few months after release.

btw, the freestyle filters do wonders for this game as well.

The product will suffer because you need to compensate for broke people. This is why PC gaming cannot ascend because majority of people still have 1060/ti graphics cards.

@xantufrog: Just saw this notification... thanks, I'll keep my eye out for the 2000 series. From what I've read about dlss it seems really good. I didnt know you needed a certain card for it though. Still got a lot of research to do before I buy one. Didn't want to spend more than $800, so looking at options around that range.

PC gaming isn't about streaming games though its about playing on native hardware. You should visit a real PC Gaming reddit or something 99.9999% of people aren't streaming games on PC.

Well, the difference here is it's a sequel and they noticeably "downgraded" her looks for the worse even though they stick to the same art style...

I don't play games with my dick in one hand and controller in the other, but i just don't understand the current trend among western studios where they keep making female characters less and less attractive and covered from "neck to toe", while it's okay for the male characters to be still that "macho and ripped" stereotypes, running around almost butt-naked...

Especially when Japanese developers can still do attractive female characters, without them being 'offensive' or anything.

There seems to be a real race to the bottom, when it comes to the attractiveness of female characters in western video games.

Can't wait for this game has horizon zero dawn is my all time favorite sony exclusive and like around a top 15 game of all time for me and it looks like this game will be a good amount better then the first game. Combat with humans looks to be greatly improved and the water adds some interesting possibilities. Hopefully we can fight a shark or something with a torpedo. Graphics wise the game looks far better then anything from ps4 or Xbox one. Still think it will be a late 2021 game like November. My ps5 is ready.
