Horizon Zero Dawn graphics

@PAL360: This has been discussed to death already.

There are PC games that have better graphics in some areas, but worse in others.

Witcher 3 has better water interactions, better draw distance, and far more foliage variety for example. However When you arent so focused on the distance, and more focused on your immediate surroundings, I like how HZD looks much better.

HZD doesn't really make me impressed with the ps4/ps4 pro though, It does make me super impressed by the engine used, and the insane optimization job Guerilla games did when making it.

Imagine what those guys could pull off if they made games for PC?

The Witcher 3 is outclassed by Horizon Zero Dawn.

Console version vs console version? Absolutely.

Console HZD vs Witcher 3 on a top end gaming rig? It's close enough that I wouldn't call anyone wrong for preferring either game.

It's only my opinion but sadly yes for me, Don't get me wrong great game.

This will be my next game after Persona 5. Still alot of catching up to do :(

Knowing this guy he probably means the PC version he likely never saw because he doesn't even have a gaming PC. Oh he probably saw it as a friend's house like all console players claim lol.

@Juub1990: I own both and agree with Pedro. Witcher 3 maxed at 1440p with a gtx 1080. Horizon graphics look better to me.

@pdogg93: So do I and I disagree. They have have strengths and weakness in different areas.

Couldn't agree more, from what i've played so far this year. HZD consumed my life until I beat it. Such a good game. :D

@appariti0n: I agree, Horizon is not perfect. There's no water interaction, lighting in the interiors is pre baked and most vegetation do bot react to the player. Even though, the attention to detail and overal polish is above anything i have seen in an open world.

Most AAA games look great at this point, even on consoles, but i don't remember being wowed every 5 minutes with vistas, enemy behaviors, textures, lighting, etc as happens when i play this game!

Amazing looking game. Gameplay and story is solid too. The only thing missing is some co-op. I'd be happy if they did some kind of monster hunter thing. Dammit capcom! Make a good looking mh game! Enough with this handheld graphics bs

@PAL360: well said. It's one thing to identify the flaws and pick them apart, but the collective package is striking. I think it looks better than TW3 in 1080p ultra on my pc, for the most part (stuff like faces, water and plant interaction look better on my tw3, but again - I'm talking about the holistic experience)

Photomode may improve image quality a little bit, but it doesn't make much of a difference in a game that already has an effective AA solution running at 1080p on the standard PS4 and 2160p on the Pro. Here are some of my pics (100% gameplay):

Its a graphical monster. There is a comparison Witcher 3 on Ultra vs Horizon on youtube.... no chance Witcher 3. Killzone SF was a small taste of Decima Engine already destroying mainstream casual games like noob of duty and battlefield at launch. Well... actually even last gen Killzone 2 has better graphics then that garbage... but anyway now the Decima Engine is much more mature. I want Killzone 5!!

Same. I'll pick this up after I get around to Dishonoured 2. Definitely looking forward to both.

Looks nice but the game itself is pretty unremarkable. Nothing about it stands out for me to want to play.

@PAL360: In any case, it's still looks amazing enough that it'll be one of the first games I pick up when my PS4 pro arrives.

The game looks incredible and is astounding. This is why PS4 will continue to reign... GAMES.

What I have seen definitely looks amazing. I'll hopefully experience it for myself in the next couple months.

the world is very impressive for sure. but the character models are pretty meh as an overall package i've seen better looking games, just not in terms of open world games

Photomode and Cutscenes, I'm not dissapointed SW......never change.

The actual gameplay with UI shots look worse than Witcher 3 and Star Citizen on PC.

If the ps4 controller weren't so abysmal with its battery life, I'd gladly leave pc and xbox gaming to embrace Sony. The PS4 is definitely dominating this gen with quality.

why not just pick up a second DS4 used so you can always have one charging?

@appariti0n: you know, I had a ps4 given to me, but I sold it to buy an RX 470 for my PC. Big mistake. On the second controller, id just buy a long as USB cable, instead.

Forza Horizon 3 looks better.

Too bad Forza Horizon 3's maps and graphics wasn't recycled for RPG with dreadlocks hair style young woman and some dino size robots.

It's my GotY. Game was so dope. Fighting a Thunderjaw and the other large robots was one of the most satisfying things I've done in a game this year.

Battlefield has more realism and more realistic graphics. Horizon has nice graphics if you like the cartoony style.

This game has been so far so good. I probably just have 4 hrs or less but I'm liking it. Too spoiled from Breath of the Wild in regards to upwards exploration

I enjoyed Horizon, but BotW is still my GOTY. One thing that Horizon needed was better physics and world interaction. And they should patch in an option to prevent the 'pickup' animation when collecting pretty much anything. It just slows you down when you need to swivel around to pickup 10 nearby wood stocks/medicinal plants while on your way to the next mission point. Still, if BotW wasn't out this year, HZD would be my GOTY.

There is definitely a discrepency between gameplay and photomode shots. You can easily see them here.

Game looks good, but we have seen better looking games on Xbox and PS.

While i like the collecting animation (they are quick and add some realism), i do agree on the physics part. The world is indeed beautiful, but there is not much interaction. That's particulary obvious in the cities and building interiors. Not only there are not much to do there, but most objects seem to be nailed to the ground or furniture.

Guerrilla should take some notes from Bethesda RPGs in this aspect, where it's possible to collect and manipulate all objects you see, even if they are just junk.
