Please, give me a break. In case you didn't know, I'm a Comic book Marvel (few DC) fanboy, Comic fans like myself are all excited to play a new Spider-Man game ever since Spider-Man: Homecoming was a massive hit last year. I’m with you bro, also a big comic book fan myself and I’m excited for Infinity War. The success of that movie is gonna feed off into the new Spiderman game. Spiderman is one of the most popular superhero characters ever and this game has a lot of hype. The announcement trailer for the game has over 27 million views on YouTube. Spiderman on PS4 is gonna be a megahit even bigger than Horizon.
@MBirdy88: yeah looking at twitch it seems like MS games have better engagement with keeping games alive longer with content and multiplayer/co-op modes. Horizon Zero Dawn would have been dope if they had co-op/multiplayer something to keep the community active with. People bag on MS but just seeing all the MS published games still active years after launch is nice.
Will be interesting to see if Sony will look at this and see how they can look at keeping the games alive longer over just one n done singleplayer. Just seems like Sony is afraid of PSN and PS+ getting gimped in 2019.

Horizon Zero Dawn did have a working 2 player coop but they canned it, a bit of a shame, they could have had a Monster Hunter type of thing going on
@NoodleFighter: That would have been epic to see Co-op. Just pains me to see Days Gone passing over co-op. Im just hoping this E3 Sony just blows open the door with PSN focused titles, pretty much the only thing missing from them this gen.
Huh. So it did end up outselling BotW in the end, at least for 2017. Well done. I'll take my crow and eat it gracefully.
Zelda isn't even Nintendo's best selling IP, so I would not have even pinned them against each other.
zelda has sold 7.78 as of dec 31st. thats more than horizon. but its switch and wiiU combined.
horizon sales are from yesterday. which is two more months of sales. still impressive but did not sell more than zelda overall.
also, it's wierd since horizon dissapeared off the charts fairly quickly in the states and japan. zelda is still in the charts. Must of been big in europe.

Well HZD is on only one platform and as far as single platform sales go it beat Zelda.
XD Time to eat crow my little Sheep.
and yea Europe = Sony Land.
It's what I've been trying to tell you lems and Sheep for a long time. Sony doesn't even need to do that well in the US and Japan because they completely own Europe. This goes for both hardware and software sales BTW. They just need to do reasonably well to stay competetive in US and Japan and Europe ensures that they end up being #1 in WW sales totals. It's the reason why Sony doesn't need to win NPD or Mediacreate every month to beat both Switch and Xbone in sales.

switch install base is 15Million. wiiU install base is 13Million
for a combined 28Million
Ps4 is at 70Million. and zelda still outsold it. excuse me if i pass on the crow.

yea Sony has europe eating out of their hand. Sony did a great job of marketing and making games europeans connected with.
Nintendo is always catering to japan first. ever since the 80's. japan always gets the best.

That number for Zelda is shipped. We know the Switch number for actual sell-through was over 6 million for last year, and that the Wii U version shipped about a million at launch and less than a million after March. So, the total is probably closer to 7.5 million. Also, luxuryheart you're implying that I should have expected a new IP to be a monster hit...
“? B...bu...but single player gamez don’t sell, Uncle Phil told me!!1”
“? B...bu...but teh movie gamez!!!1”
“?B....bu...but cowz don’t buy their excluzives!!!1”
Congrats GG and Sony. Keep making these high quality single player IPs while MS continues to release flops like Crackhead 3 and Quantum Fail as they deny that well made SP games can be successful.
Funny thing is that this is only the beginning of the onslaught, games like God of War, TLOU2, Death Stranding, Spiderman, Ghosts of Tsushima, Detroit, etc. are still on their way.
I would be surprised at this point if Guerrilla announced their next title is going back to Killzone, though as much as I would love to have them take another shot at it, it would be stupid not to follow up on the success of this game.

Yea I'm not giving either of you a break.... "omg its spiderman" in a low effort video game, but ofcourse you guys love it because they put 99% of the effort into it's graphics presentation. Batman without the variety, Batman without the tension ... more like Spidey-Creed...
But hey, as a Star Wars fan I should absolutely LOVE Battlefront 2 for its really engaging gamepl.....
Branded Movie stuff sells milions? DAMN SONY, THANKS FOR THE MONEY IL NEVER SEE!
It could sell 10 million, that is still far less than the biggest played MP games. All I've been pointing out is Phil Spencer's statement is not wrong.
Nobody said SP games are dead, I don't want GOOD indepth SP games to die every.... but these action games that seem to be Sony's only crutch in first parties? Where lets be honest, the games are just pasted for their graphics here mostly.... can go rot.

2) Easy mindless, overly forgiving gameplay where you feel like an absolute God-Mode Spider Man ... enemies attack you one at a time. press Q to counter whenever you like.
9/10 - "Omg sony does it again, what an amazing achie...."
Good for Sony and GG. They definitely found a winning formula with cinematic TPS games. If I were a console player I would definitely be all over the PS lineup and as a PC guy kind of jealous since TPS is my favorite genre. Though I should also point out that there games are all too formulaic and similar. Anyone saying there is diversity is definitely mistaken.

To be fair we should at least wait to see more gameplay of Spiderman before calling it a QTE fest I'm sure the game is only QTE heavy when cinematic set pieces are happening. This is going to be an open world game so I'm sure its not going to an entirely linear like game just throwing cinematic set piece after cinematic set piece at you. But yeah the demo they showed was pretty heavy on QTEs but a lot of game demos in recent years have been heavily scripted to the point they're almost movies just to make it more appealing to all the people watching them at events such as E3 so I wouldn't be surprised that they would pick a part of the game that is heavy on cinematics. I hope the game turns out good as I want it to be another game to motivate me to buy a PS4 and I will fight my urge to watch Let's Plays of it.
I wouldn't really project the success of the MCU onto the games either since the overwhelming majority of people who watch the movies aren't even gamers let alone people who've ever touched a comic those movies and characters are based off of. I highly the doubt the several middle age+ women I see in the theaters for these movies are gonna go out and buy a copy of Spiderman to play for themselves. It has already happened with Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite, it was blown way overhype and people thought it would be biggest MvC yet because the MCU is trending right now and MvCi has tie ins with infinity wars. MvCi flopped hard and lost to other brands such as Dragon Ball Z and DC Comics with their fighting games (Dragon Ball FighterZ and Injustice 2) both their games have greatly outsold MvCi in much shorter timespans and MvCi is so dead its not even going to be at EVO 2018.
Not saying Spiderman is going to do bad sales wise I can easily see this game being a multi million seller.
Really great game. It had its flaws but all games do. I hope the sequel tackles those and helps the series fulfill its potential. So glad it sold well, one of the more memorable games to come out on any platform in a long time

When did you you play PS4 Spiderman to know it's a QTE fest?
@NoodleFighter: To be honest, I wish Spider-Man game would come to PC but since this is coming to PS4, I don't have a choice but to play it on console. I grew up with Marvel's Comics in the 90's and Spider-Man happens to be my favorite follow by Iron Man & Thor. The Marvel fanboy in me just got all excited for a new Spider-Man game.
@MBirdy88 It's a good thing I'm not buying it for pretty graphics, I just happen to love Spider-Man :)
Also, we only have just one gameplay from last year's E3, it's hard to tell if this will be heavy QTE but however, this is an open world Spider-Man game since well, Spider-Man 2. I wouldn't worry about all QTE just yet, it's best to wait and see until we get a fully gameplay this year. If you want my honest opinion, I wish this was on PC.

The funny thing in my mind is the fact that any of you are fixating on the QTE comment. It's not a hard assumption to make that most action cut scenes will have QTEs.... their entire existence is pointless so I mock them every time i see them.
You should be fixating on the following:
1) No normal gameplay up to date that isn't part of a scripted mission (E.G what elements keep the game engaging?) ... batman had many villians with lots of puzzles and extras. Spiderman universe? swing between repetitive buildings over and over... something is missing.
2) The combat we have seen - flashy, but substanceless, "make me feel like a god as long as I press teh button when the warning pops up" which in my mind is just a slightly more free-movement based QTE system that plagues these games.
E.G lord of the rings and batman ... you can mock the A.I .... its so overly simplified.
But yes, lets focus on the QTE ... nevermind the likely hood that you will face the same handful on minions with or without guns for the duration of the game with the absolutely overly-handholding combat system known to man.... except perhaps Dynasty warriors.

And how do you know it isn't full of QTE or as MBirdy said one button counter? So when did you two played the game? At least what was shown MBirdy is more justified in calling it a QTE fest than you two saying it isn't.
Looking at the time spent doing a QTE vs not in the game play demo says otherwise...
And how do you know it isn't full of QTE or as MBirdy said one button counter? So when did you two played the game? At least what was shown MBirdy is more justified in calling it a QTE fest than you two saying it isn't.

Tells me all I need to know.
What? That I'm a person with more important things to do then read a few paragraphs of tosh on a gaming forum?

zelda has sold 7.78 as of dec 31st. thats more than horizon. but its switch and wiiU combined.
horizon sales are from yesterday. which is two more months of sales. still impressive but did not sell more than zelda overall.
also, it's wierd since horizon dissapeared off the charts fairly quickly in the states and japan. zelda is still in the charts.
Makes sense that Sony would lead Europe. The only Nintendo console to ever lead Europe was the Wii. And an Xbox console has never led Europe.
Most of Gran Turismo's sales also come from Europe. And the same goes for Tekken, which gets most of its sales from Europe and also happens to be most successful on PlayStation.

Like I said, let's wait until we see more gameplay first and wait until E3 2018 starts this June. I have played too many games with QTE last-gen and they don't bother me to bitch about.
Edit: Oh, I didn't notice you are new here. Welcome to GS. Or should I say alt

Looking at it again, yup. I believe MBirdy is right. Even more so when he already pointed out the one button counter. Perhaps you can shed some light on the amazing moment to moment gameplay.

I'm an alt because I'm criticizing a game based on your favorite superhero?
My point was you people are just as silly to dismiss it a QTE fest as you're calling MBirdy because he didn't play it, neither did you. And as far as I'm concerned I don't care just joining Mbirdy on hating the game. I never liked comics or games based on them. At first I even hated Batman and had no interest in trying it, though to be fair when I played it I ended up enjoying it. But as for Spiderman I never liked any of its previous games nor I'm a fan of the character so....

IMO calling Spiderman a QTE-fest based on 15 mins of gameplay shown is just silly. The game is also an open world game so judging it one section that happens to be a boss fight section is also very silly and premature.
I'm hyped for the game because I'm a Spiderman fan and because I trust Insomniac to make a good game. Insomniac are one of the best 2nd/3rd party devs out there, and they haven't let me down ever with the gameplay in their games so I completely trust them with the Spiderman franchise.
I remember fanboys said it wasn't selling well lol. Oh they just keep making fools of themselves. I am honored to have got the platinum for this incredible game. The game is great and it deserved all $7.6 million of dollars it sold. This is great for gaming and the only ones not happy are pathetic fanboys lol. I see $10 million easy. Great job Sony. Now excuse me while I use all the salt to shake on my dries ROFL.
My god you don't know what the hell you are talking about lol. Uncharted 4 is mega popular online as is TLoU and Bloodborne is played religiously through co op. GT Sport is also growing daily with MLB The Show having a consistent online community. See this is why people should not speak on things they have no knowledge of kids. I am active in all of those communities so I know better. HZD did not need co op of MP and new people are playing it everyday. HZD has outsold both Halo 5 and Gears of War 4. So I'd say Sony did something right with it. MS only have two games, but you are on their jimmy for what exactly?

Did you even look at the E3 2016 video of Spiderman? Serious question. If you did you would have noticed that the fighting was not scripted, but since you choose to be stupid they were focused on a mission because it was a gameplay reveal. They have plenty of time to show free roam and none mission footage. Wow a studio showing off a game is showing a more exciting part of the game instead of mindless free roaming. What a surprise. They also showed him as Peter Parker and mentioned that he will do investigative work so there is more than swinging between buildings but that is a gameplay mechanic of the game and how Spiderman gets around. You really are dense lol. An open world game would obviously have more to do. Matter of fact don't even reply. Keep being an internet troll who wastes his time hating on games that will be great.
