How active is this forum?

Compared to other gaming forums, probably like 2/10. 3/10 on a good day.

This forums best days are long gone.

ResetEra is way more active and typically has much better game discussion, though it can be strict in some weird ways.

For game specific forums, Gamefaqs still gets a lot of traffic.

Can also look into Discord for game specific servers.

@parkerrand: Decently active, there are others like gaf, era, and reddit if you want more activity. Your mother's a saint btw.

Reset era is only good for news because its very active.

Well I don't post there at all. Never even signed up, not gonna pretend I know what it's like on the day to day.

I do browse their threads on occasion tho. And though your examples suck, I get where you're coming from. They do have some wack hive mind shit going on. Buuuuut I've also seen plenty of threads that have none of that shit, and have far better discussions than what is typical here on SW.

Personally I don't mind rolling around in waste, so SW is fine.

when jedi fallen order was announced. everyone was like "meh while male protagonist. should have been female protagonist" and no mods bats an eye.

but when people want male protagonist. they got banned.

thats just an example.

remember whole kingdom come fisaco. everyone who was praising it was getting ban.

i predict when last of us 2 will release, people will get banned for not agree with game and not liking it.

@parkerrand: This place used to be extremely active back in the days and when 2013 came, Gamespot change the layout and everything else and from their, GS lost like over 1,000 members because the revamp is what really hurt this site, it made long time users go somewhere else. System Wars is still active but not crazy active as it used to be. Yeah, you join very late, might as well try ResetEra since I heard its System Wars crazy active. There's always Twitter since that's mostly I spend my time in that place as far as social media goes.

I just think it's a bit more balanced than that and we typically hear/see the worst of it. Either way, don't really care.

I don't fully have the specifics, but the issue was more on FireEmblemMan and not so much on Era. Pablo basically doxxed Chaz out to an angry mob from what I gather.

I'm not a big forum goer. System Wars is actually one of the best ones I've been to.

The community is pretty cool, if you can cope with all the fanboyism going around.

for a forum in 2020 this place is probably pretty active. But nothing like it used to be in the 2000's

If you're looking for a sense of community, Facebook groups, Reddit, and Discord would be better options.

I would suggest the MetalJesusRocks Discord. Pretty good community

Yeah, this place lost most of the active members with the 2013 redesign, and never really even sort of recovered. And we all warned it would happen. Still a mystery what they even hoped to achieve with it.

We get about 100 Ghost threads a day

some of the threads here tho end up being just mud slinging arguments, bunch of nerds arguing about their different tastes in video games or bitching about stuff happening in the industry, its entertaining sometimes lol

And are we any different then those other 2 sites? Sounds to me we have something in common with Reddit & ResetEra.

I would say there are more people around here like me that for whatever reason just never left than new members, and 99% of new members are just salty alts that for whatever reason people use to agree with themselves.. lol

Oh, welcome aboard by the way, just be prepared for about 9 people to call you an alt if anything you say differs from their own line of thinking. :P

This forum is a desert. Most of the forum's user base left years ago. And all that's left are mostly old-timers, with not many new members joining.

GameFAQs and Reddit are pretty good.

ResetEra is pretty good too, but it's a bit strict. You have to be careful what you say, if you don't want to get modded.

No wonder jg4champ was calling FireEmblemMan a "piece of shit". Now it makes sense. That's a shitty move. But still, why was an angry mob after Chaz in the first place? What did he do to piss off an angry mob?

Active enough, people still post the latest gaming news, so I still visit this place multiple times a day.

This place was the true endgame of any games back in 2008. Outside of gamefaqs which is unbelievably as active as the old SW (its too bad they don't have System Wars section), i think this was the best gaming related forum there ever was. I miss The Witcher 2 threads from @loosingENDS and blackace mega meltdowns (tormentos is replacing blackace, tho, he has quality meltdowns too!)

I'm kinda searching for an active forum as well. Came back in here after a long while, but its too slow, not enough qq 😢I heard Twitter killed gaming forums, but just learned about this resetera or whatever its called.

Don't forget unsolid basic he has like 10 threads on the main page, and he ignores 95% of the people who post in his threads. Why even make a thread if you're not going to contribute in it.

It was interesting that when I was a member of the NeoGAF forum, I was downgraded from my "Member" status to "Junior Member" because I broke an unwritten rule the forum had for not responding to users soon. I read the forum rules and nowhere are users punished for failing to repond to users. Because of that downgrade of user status (I can longer post threads, but still post replies) and the unwritten rule (one of many like banning users for criticizing Sony), I never posted at NeoGAF again.

Fortunately, the GameSpot forums do not have hidden rules that get users banned.

@onesiphorus: I don't even know what IP is talking about. He still hasn't answered my reply to him in another thread. There are certain people in this forum that are bitter for whatever reason. At the end of the day, no point in wasting time talking to them.

Nah it has nothing to be with being bitter (except maybe on your end) you just don't take criticism well (a well known cow trait I might add) so you tend to ignore most people who do criticise you in your threads. Maybe we all should not waste our time posting in your threads, which is not a bad idea.

And most of your threads are crappy anyway, like you trying to shill MGS, or trying to reassure yourself that you chose the right console with your which console is better threads.

Occasionally you will make a half decent one but even casual4ever does that. But hey feel free to ignore my post as I don't want you wasting any of your precious time on me LOL.

That's great that you don't like my threads..it's really not about you. I come here to talk about games and luckily there are people here who enjoy that too. You made a point about me not answering threads, yet you can't even remember the thread I responded to you in. Like I said, at the end of the day, no point in wasting time with people who just want to troll.

This place was a lot more active 15 years ago. It started going downhill really at the start of this gen in terms of users.

Granted with all of what I've heard and seen, I'm glad I avoided neogaf and resetera. I'm also not surprised by a certain user that used to post here. All I can recall about him was "Jay Cutler."
