i dont get why people downplay GOW story, its not as shallow as you think,

but hey its all opinions

jerkface96

the third was largely rushed and thoughtless to be honest.

yea i noticed that, but i liked it and thought it was epic in every sense. The story may have gotten worse, but Kratos's character stayed the same which is good .

No he didnt, His love for pandora was just plain stupid, she was a key not even a real girl . I found that whole part out of character for kratos and downright annoying.

Really? he was going to put his revenge for Zues on hold because he cared about a key made to look like a girl? Whatever.

God of War 3 is epic and heavily scripted ( a major plus in today's games --> check scores, people buy this up). Make Bayonetta heavily scripted with over-the-top set pieces and you may have a better game, as for gameplay who cares... Another game that destroys GoW3 is NG2/NGS2.

I never really know how to respond to these "How dare you not share the same opinion as me" threads.

The environment? The Story? The sound track? Puzzles? Characters? Gameplay? I mean seriously, there are enough reasons to prefer God of War to the other action game genres.

There are these wonderful things called opinions. Bayonetta's wackiness is off-putting for some people.

Upparoom

I concur with this statement. I don't even own a PS3 but I loved God of War 1 & 2 for the PS2. Greek Mythology on it's own is pretty damn cool, and I love how God of War puts the player right in the middle of it.

Bayonetta may have the tightest controls and best gameplay ever seen in an action game, but it just seems a little too weird for my taste.

God of war... the combat is slow choppy and repetitive. The combat doesn't get better until you upgrade everything an insane amount of times but that doesn't happen until deep into the game. Until then it's just CHOP-CHOP DIE rinse and repeat. The combat is soooo slow. I can't block during an attack or transition OR ANYTHING!! Bayonetta- Combat is super fluid, I can block whenever i want. COMBAT is NEVER dry millions of combos and insane moves that let you pull off anything. Very fun combat even if you don't have everything unlocked yet. Story- Bayonetta isn't about story. If you want a story go read a book. And how is god of war superior in story? It is basically the ODYSSEY or PERCY JACKSON with a lame as heck hollywood "my family got killed must seek revenge" plot device tossed in to freshen up the thousand year old tale.NinDogDo

GOW - U play as Kratos, an angry dude who solves everything with violence, typical for hack and slash game. I do hate him but well, he's a LOT better than..... :(

Bayonetta - U play as a tranny who pose every time she perform a combo, and soon it's become so annoying that u want to go shooting some tranny outside. I love the gameplay, but the moves she perform is kinda, crazy, too crazy. I want to puke! :(

Who's the better choice to play!? I'd say Dante. He doesn't pose everytime he performs combo. We only see he does so in cut-scenes. And it's kinda acceptable but still annoying to me. :P

Indeed, some people prefer less responsive controls. It's true that a game is judged as the entire package, but GoW3 gameplay is undoubtedly lacking in comparison.

From what I saw of Bayonetta it has some crazy DMC like combat with some great unique twists, but the story as I know it sounds AWFUL, the style is not for me, and I am just not a big fan of these type of games. GoW is more puzzle and story oriented and less like DMC where its a stage by stage basis of arcade feeling combat. I prefer GoW's epic feel personally.

God of War franchise is pretty much Universally acclaimed as being at the very pinnacle of the action game genre... I will concede, however, that Bayonetta deserves it's rightful place at that pinnacle also...

The combat in GoW is incredibly fluid, and you can block just about any time. Considering that you can switch weapons mid combo, I fail to see how there is not enough variety in move combinations.

I played the demo of Bayonetta, and do not desire to ever play the full game. It's just not my kind of game.

More like hundreds of combos, and probably because God of Wars story and presentation is way better than Bayonettas.

Combat is better in Bayonetta, yes, but overall presentation is not. It's also saddled with a horribly designed main character (she's supposed to be attractive, but she's **bleep**ing ugly). God of War is a better overall experience, and it blends some exploration and puzzle elements into the game where Bayonetta's puzzles consist of kicking statues. It also (wisely) downplays the story where Bayonetta goes out of its way to bring an awful lot of emphasis to its terrible plot and characters with overlong cutscenes and embarassingly bad music.

imo i prefer bayonetta and ninja gaiden over god of war but i still love god of war. but the main reason is the hack and slash gerne has i think the smallest fanbase. this gen its all about shooters. god of war is more like an adventure game. bayonetta and ninja gaiden are more technical game?( all about moves and combos. god of war will attrack more fans .

Bayonetta? moar liek Gayonetta, amirite?

But in all seriousness, I didn't find the game anything special at all. The corny as hell plot, characters, dialouge, music were all just cringe-worthy. People like to complain about GOW's gameplay, but why are they praising Bayonetta's for being so great when its just the same as DMC? Just don't get it...

Bayonetta may have been a better fighter, in my opinion, but I have enjoyed God Of War 1-3 a lot more as a whole package. I couldn't get into Bayonetta's character at all. I didn't find her likable at all. Thus, it took away from experience.

I cant stand either of them. Both of the main characters annoy me, the combat in gow is mediocre with the only saving grace being the epic boss battles, and bayonetta has some of the worst music I have ever heard. Not to mention her bookworm look annoys the hell out of me. The story in both leave a little more to be desired as well. Both in acting and overall quality.

Again, the thing gow has always had going for it are the bosses. Pretty top notch, as far as how it plays out.

Bayonetta has pretty decent combat, and the bosses arent too bad either.

It shocks you that people dig a gnarly game like God of War over a flowery game full of J-Pop and Japanese weirdness? Bayonetta has a cool combat system, otherwise that game does nothing for me.

its really just a matter of preference. i give the nod to gow, without question. however, from what i've played of bayonetta (just started it) i think its goofy, over the top, and tons of fun.

God of war combat choppy? That just means your not any good , God of War 3 combat is great and although its not as deep as bayoneta it kills bayonetta in story, production values, graphics and overall I enjoyed it more.
